DC Universe Online Announces Origin Crisis

DC Universe Online is still going on I guess. The video game has announced some new DLC Origin Crisis. The seventh DLC pack for the game has heroes behind Batman and villains behind Lex Luthor to preserve or prevent the origin of various characters. There will also be a new power set, Quantum, will also be in play, giving users the ability to “Manipulate time, control gravity and twist the very fabric of space itself!”

Our focus in Origin Crisis and what makes me so excited to finally share it with you is the return of deep, comic book storylines and challenging group content. In Origin Crisis, this means two new Origin Operations per faction, in alternate versions of Gotham City and Metropolis, and two powerful Raids across time itself. Timelines are distorted, the past is in ruins, and the future is in jeopardy.

How would Gotham City and Metropolis change if Batman’s and Superman’s origin stories were fundamentally…different? You’ll get to find out. You’ll get to stand in Crime Alley on that fateful night when the Waynes were gunned down in front of a young Bruce. You’ll get to storm the House of El to reach the rocket destined to carry Kal’El to Earth. And then you’ll get to decide – what actions will you take to tip these events toward the side of good or evil?

Then you’ll follow Future Batman or Future Lex Luthor in a war across time and against each other to alter the origins of countless iconic heroes and villains. But there is a cost to corrupting time, and a greater threat lurks within – the Paradox created as a result of your actions. Only you have the power to stop it before it destroys reality itself. Will you survive the Paradox Wave?

Sounds like some potentially cool DLC.

DC Universe Online Goes Free-to-Play in October

Bookmark and Share

DC Universe OnlineWhile I’ve had the game for a while I haven’t had much of a chance or desire to play it.  It’s been announced that DC Universe Online will be going free-to-play this October.  The DC based MMO will be free to download and play without a monthly subscription fee.  There will however been three levels to the game, Free, Premium and Legendary.

From GamePolitics:

The Free access level will grant access to the current gameplay in DC Universe Online (including Gotham City, Metropolis, and all current raids and alerts), with the ability to create two characters, join a league and many other benefits. Free level players will be able to purchase downloadable game packs/updates, additional character slots, powers and more through micro-transactions.

The Premium access level will be available to any player who has spent at least $5 USD (including former paid subscribers and new players who have purchased $5 of in-game items). Premium level players will have more benefits available to them than the Free level player, including additional character slots, additional inventory slots, and higher cash limits. Downloadable adventure packs, additional character slots, and more can be purchased in-game.

Finally, the Legendary access level promises maximum features and benefits including enhanced additional features. Legendary access will be available for a $14.99 USD monthly fee and includes all DLC packs at no cost, more than 15 character slots, more than 80 inventory slots, the ability to form unrestricted-sized leagues, and many other benefits.

With the change will you be giving this PS3 and PC video games a chance?
