Celebrated Cartoonist Andy Friedman Covers Harbinger #19

Valiant has announced that celebrated cartoonist and musician Andy Friedman has contributed a stunning variant cover for December’s Harbinger #19 – the final installment of the acclaimed “Perfect Day” story arc from writer Joshua Dysart and legendary artist Barry Kitson!

As a noted contributor to The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, The New York Times Magazine, The Atlantic and many more, Friedman’s gag cartoons and portraits of cultural icons have appeared in hundreds of newspapers and magazines across the world. Friedman is also a prolific singer-songwriter with three acclaimed albums to his credit – 2007’s Taken Man, 2009’s Weary Things and 2011’s Laserbeams and Dreams – and for over a decade has enjoyed performing in the nation’s premier music venues. Harbinger #19 will mark his first foray into monthly comics.

Tickets for Baltimore Comic Con’s All-Star Reception Are Going Fast!

Baltimore Comic Con set out a reminder notice that this year’s All-Star Reception taking place on the eve of this year’s Baltimore Comic-Con, Friday September 6 at 8pm is selling quickly. The convention has put together an amazing and growing lineup of some of comics’ biggest names to make this event the perfect way to kick off the best weekend in comics!

Here’s just a few of the great creators who will be taking part: Mike Carey, Mark Waid, Paul Jenkins, Bill Willingham, Barry Kitson, Mark Buckingham, Walter Simonson, Louise Simonson, Stan Sakai, Jimmy Cheung and George Perez!

This three-hour event will include a private panel discussion and a meet-and-greet with many guests available to sign an item or two! So, don’t forget your Sharpie!

And to make the evening even more special, the convention has added even more goodies including:

Hitch, Larroca, Yu, Layton Among Top Creators At Philadelphia Comic Con

A superstar lineup of comics writers and artists, including such luminaries as Bryan Hitch, Eisner Award winner Salvador Larroca, Leinil Yu, Bob Layton, Yildiray Cinar and Barry Kitson will be among the more than 175 scheduled to populate Artist Alley at Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con, May 30 – June 2 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.  Eisner Award Hall of Famer Stan Lee will attend on Friday and Saturday, May 31 – June 1, appearing in the celebrity area.

The international roster also features top creators like Mico Suayan, Julian Totino Tedesco, Angel Unzueta, Michael Golden, Greg Horn, Phil Noto and J.G. Jones.  Nearly any comics character and franchise imaginable are represented by at least one, and usually more, of these talented men and women.

In addition to displaying some of their best work at the event, most creators at Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con will be available for commissions.  Many will also take part in four full days of Creator Spotlights and a wide variety of other panel programming focusing on the comics industry, to be announced in the coming weeks.

Other special guest creators scheduled to attend are Tyler Kirkham, Doug Sneyd, Mark Texeira, Tom Raney and recent Eisner Award nominee Ryan Inzana.
