AMC Picks Up a Third Walking Dead Series
The Walking Dead is still a success for AMC as the network has announced that it has given the green light for a third series. Matt Negrete will be the showrunner for the series which will run for 10 episodes. Negrete created with series with franchise chief content officer Scott M. Gimple.
Negrete has been a writer and producer on The Walking Dead for the past five seasons.
It’s unknown who will appear on the series but we know that it will feature two young female protagonists and focus on the first generation to come of age in the apocalypse. Production will begin this summer in Virginia for a 2020 debut.
Below is the official description:
Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad.
This new series is on top of The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead and the three films that will focus on Andrew Lincoln’s character Rick Grimes.

Black Panther Will Return to the Big Screen for Free for Black History Month
If you missed Black Panther on the big screen, you will get a new chance for one week, February 1-7. But, that’s not cool enough, what’s even better is that Disney is making tickets for free for everyone.
There’ll be two showings per day at 250 participating AMC theaters.
Disney is also giving a $1.5 million grant to the United Negro College Fund (UNCF).
In the announcement The Walt Disney Chairmain and CEO Bob Iger said:
Black Panther is groundbreaking for many reasons, including the rich diversity of voices behind its success. The story also showcases the power of knowledge to change the world for the better, and the importance of ensuring everyone has access to it. We’re proud to provide thousands of free screenings of Black Panther in hopes it will continue to inspire audiences.
The film was recently a big winner a the SAG Awards taking the top prize of the night and is the first superhero comic film to be nominated for “best picture” by the Oscars.

The Walking Dead Teases the Whisperers and Its Return in February
The Walking Dead returns to AMC February 10 and with it the communities will face a new enemy in the Whisperers. This new threat debuted in the comics in issue #130 and was a group of individuals who lived within the herds of walkers by wearing the skin of the dead. Led by the leaders Alpha and Beta, they were unlike anything that’s been dealt with before.
The show has teased this enemy for a bit of time and we’ve seen them in a few episodes already, though they haven’t been explained.
Today, AMC released a teaser of what we’ll be seeing in about a month’s time.

Rick Grimes’ Story Will Continue in Walking Dead Movies
You didn’t think Rick Grimes‘ story was over, did you? Though this Sunday’s episode, “What Comes After,” was Andrew Lincoln‘s last as the character on the show, we’re still getting more of hist story.
Chief content officer Scott M. Gimple has said we’ll get to see more of his story in original films most likely to air on AMC.
SPOILERS
In the episode, Rick is injured and taken away in a mysterious helicopter. The films will be what happens after.
Gimple told Entertainment Weekly:
It is really important for the audience to know that we are going to be continuing to tell the story of Rick Grimes in these AMC Studios original films. We don’t want this thing to be like, “Oh, well, he’ll be back on the show any moment now.” We are telling Rick’s story in another medium, and it’s going to be these AMC Studios original films. They’re going to be on AMC, most probably. They’re centered around Rick Grimes.
We’re going to tell the story of what happens after that helicopter flight, and these are going to be big, epic entertainments. Each are quality films. That’s what’s been happening in the industry. We’ve seen Netflix make these, basically, studio films for people to watch in their homes, and we’re going to be doing the same sort of thing here.
Gimple added more details:
I am extremely hard at work on the first one right now, and most likely filming next year, though I’m freaking out about deadlines right now, so I’m not going to tell you exactly when because it will only make me pass out. But it really is going to be sooner than later. On the flip side, these are not going to be made on television schedules. This is going to be on feature schedules, and they’re going to be big, so they’re going to take a minute to make.
