Space Riders & We Can Never Go Home Collections Hit Shops in November

This November two of the most talked about indie comics on the year will see release as collected editions. Space Riders and We Can Never Go Home have both sold through multiple printings, been critical darlings, and become legitimate cult hits. Now they will be in comic shops in time for the holidays. And what makes a better gift to friends and family than stories about space pirates in flying skulls on a quest for revenge or teenagers robbing and killing their way across the American heartland?

Both books have helped define what Black Mask is in many ways and we are proud to be releasing these beautiful collections to reach new readers and offer cool bonuses to existing fans. Both books will only be available in comic shops in 2015.

Collecting the four sold out issues of the psychedelic revenge tale from the minds of Alexis Ziritt and Fabian Rangel, Jr!

The story of two teenagers, a mixtape, a stolen car, a fully loaded .45, strange abilities, dead drug dealers, and their money. A dark and modern story about getting lost and finding yourself on the backroads of America. Collecting We Can Never Go Home #1-5 by artist Joshua Hood, and writers Matthew Rosenberg and Patrick Kindlon.

Review: Space Riders #1

Space Riders #1From the galactic core to the outer quadrants, one name strikes terror in the hearts of evil beings everywhere: the Space Riders! Sailing the cosmos in the Skullship Santa Muerte, Capitan Peligro and his fearless crew deal harsh justice to the scum of the galaxy while searching for the forbidden truths of the universe!

It’s new and exciting space adventure courtesy of writer Alexis Ziritt and artist Fabian Rangel, Jr.

Space Riders #1 feels like an comic acid trip with visuals and coloring that evoke psychedelic comics of the past. Space Riders is a love letter to the psychedelic space operas of Heavy Metal, Moebius, and EC Comics, but done with a modern twist. It’s clear from the second you look at the color packed visuals on the first page.

The story is a humorous sci-fi tale with a disgraced space jockey being brought back into the fight. The ideas and story are fairly standard, but when they’re mixed with Rangel’s visuals everything pops. The draw here is an entertaining story, but art that you just don’t see out there very much. It’s doing mushrooms via comics.

Space Riders #1 is a hell of a start with an entertaining story enhanced with unique and just plain beautiful art. Another solid release from Black Mask Studios in what’s proving to be a fantastic year for them.

New RoboCop Ongoing Series Picks Up Where the Classic Film Left Off

At BOOM! Studios, the classic 1987 RoboCop film holds a special place in their hearts, so they’re taking the next step to give fans an all-new, ongoing RoboCop series set in that very world. Writer Joshua Williamson and artist Carlos Magno craft a story of crime and corruption that fans of Gotham Central, Stray Bullets, and Incognito will enjoy, bringing the grittiness of RoboCop and Old Detroit to four-color life with an intensity never seen before.

Dive into the harsh world of Old Detroit with RoboCop and his partner, Anne Lewis, following the events of the original film. A deadly and charismatic criminal, Killian, is released from jail. He went into the slammer before RoboCop hit the streets, and now he wants to take out the biggest cop in the city. When OCP wants to take guns off the street, Killian sees it as his opportunity to take on the former Alex Murphy!

RoboCop #1 arrives in comic shops on July 2nd with a cover price of $3.99 under Diamond order code MAY141131. The issue ships with a main cover by Goñi Montes and incentive covers available from Carlos Magno and Alexis Ziritt.
