With numerous television shows based on comic books being announced for the 2014/2015 season, we’re starting to find out when the shows will be wining up on the schedule. I’ll say, there’s at least one shock for me, and that’s The CW not pairing up Arrow with The Flash.
Well, here’s what you’ll be watching this fall!
Monday
Gotham – 8pm – FOX – The series focusing on a young Jim Gordon and Gotham before the masks is one of my most anticipated shows of any debuting. Based on DC’s Batman. (NEW)
Tuesday
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – 9pm – ABC – The series returns for a second season, staying on Tuesday nights, but moving forward an hour. We’ll see if the Marvel television series can build off its momentum.
The Flash – 8pm – The CW – Really, this wasn’t paired with Arrow!? Based on the DC Comics iconic character (NEW)
Wednesday
Arrow – 8pm – The CW – The series stays on Wednesdays at the 8pm slot for its third season. Based on the DC Comics character.
Friday
Constantine – 10pm – NBC – An interesting pairing of show and network, the series follows Grimm, a decent pairing of shows. Based on the comic series Hellblazer published by DC Comics imprint Vertigo. (NEW)
Sunday
The Walking Dead – 9pm – AMC – I’m assuming The Walking Dead is remaining at this time slot and on this day.
It has also been announced that Agent Carter, a new show on ABC, will fill in the slot when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has its fall finale and before the S.H.I.E.L.D. winter premiere. It’ll act as a bridge series, and connect with it and the greater Marvel cinematic universe. The CW has also announced that iZombie will be a midseason premiere as well, but we don’t know the day or time. That series is also based on a Vertigo series.
Today, ABC television held their “upfronts” going over their 2014-15 television schedule. Already announced, two shows will be on the schedule based on Marvel Comics (both ABC and Marvel are owned by Disney), the returning Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the newly announced Agent Carter.
S.H.I.E.L.D. will take the 9pm slot on Tuesday, a change from its current 8pm location, and the premiere date will be announced at a later time. The show is ranked 20th on broadcast tv in adults 18-49 for this past television season.
As was expected, Agent Carter will act as a bridge series between the fall finale and winter premiere for S.H.I.E.L.D.

Update 2: Introducing S.H.I.E.L.D. ABC mentioned the front half of the first season was shaky, but the series has hit its stride with the second half….
Update 3: An Agent Carter clip has been shown, and it’s really good. It has a retro spy vibe about it all, and the origin story of Carter. Is that Bradley Whitford?! Loks like Howard Stark is in the show, but I’m not sure if it’s Dominic Cooper, because it looks like Frank Whaley.
While numerous comic books are making it to the small screen this fall, ABC’s announcement of Agent Carter, based on the Marvel character, was a bit surprising as there were rumors, but no solid info if it was actually coming. So the announcement it’d be part of the coming season was a bit surprising. Now, we get an official logo and blurb for the show.

And with that, we’ve got yet another television series based on comic books coming to television. ABC has announced that it is renewing Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a second season. Joining that series will be Agent Carter.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had a rocky first year, debuting strong with a 4.7 rating among the key 18-49 demographic and 11.9 million viewers. That made it the top drama premiere for ABC since 2009. from there the ratings slipped as the novelty wore off, and reviews turned south. Since the debut of the second Captain America film the series has seen a rejuvenation in creativity and an uptick in story telling. The series is still ABC’s top rated freshman drama in the 18-49 demo.
The new series will star Hayley Atwell, and take place a year after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger. The focus will be Agent Carter as she builds her secret agent career while Captain America is frozen. The show has been whispered about, but the fact it was coming to series has been kept pretty quiet, as no pilot was announced. Agent Carter did have a short that was featured on the Iron Man 3 DVD.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Agent Carter will be a short-order series and likely used as a “bridge show” to air during the second season hiatus of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Eventually the two series will be tied together.
That’s two series for Marvel, who also has a slate of shows being prepared for Netflix including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. They’ll eventually come together as The Defenders. The first of these will debut in 2015.
