Marvel & Wizard World are Doing What for VIPs?

Marvel and Wizard World have announced a program by which VIP attendees at each of the 16 scheduled 2014 Wizard World Comic Con pop culture conventions will receive exclusive variant covers of the best Marvel titles, beginning with Miracleman #1 at Portland Comic Con which takes place January 24-26, and Miracleman #2 at New Orleans Comic Con, which runs February 7-9. The first two limited-edition books, with covers illustrated by comics legend and Eisner Award Hall of Famer Neal Adams, feature interlocking covers, and will be available in both color and black & white sketch editions.

The colored version of Miracleman #1 will be limited to 3,000 copies and provided free at registration to all Wizard World VIP attendees, including any celebrity VIP packages. The Black & White sketch version is limited to just 2,500 copies and will be available for sale at the Wizard World Store on the convention floor. Quantities per purchase may be limited.

Adams is scheduled to be on site at each event to sign copies (autograph fees may apply). Leading professional comic grader CGC will also be on hand to accept books for grading and Signature Series.

NEW YORK, May 6, 2011 – Stars James Marsters, Tom Felton, Morena Baccarin and Kristanna Loken headline the field of celebrities scheduled to attend Wizard World Big Apple Comic Con ‘Spring Edition,’ part of North America’s largest pop-culture tour, Saturday and Sunday, May 21-22, at the Penn Plaza Pavilion in Manhattan.

The event, the largest and longest-running Comic Con in New York, will bring together thousands of fans of all ages and plenty of celebrities and industry professionals to celebrate the best in pop culture: movies, comics, toys, video gaming, television, gaming, original art, collectibles, contests and more.

Marsters, who played “Spike” on “Buffy: The Vampire Slayer,” has proven to be one of the most popular guests at Wizard World Comic Con events.  Felton, best known for playing the role of “Draco Malfoy” in the HARRY POTTER film series, and Baccarin, who starred as “Inara Serra” in the sci-fi television series “Firefly,” “Adria” in “Stargate SG-1,” and as “Anna” in “V,” will both be making their first appearances at a Wizard World show.  Loken, whose credits include TERMINATOR 3, “Painkiller Jane,” and “The L Word,” has also been well-received at previous Comic Cons.

Other celebrities setto be on hand include Tony Award winner Dan Fogler (“Balls of Fury,” “Good Luck Chuck”), Christy Carlson Romano (“Kim Possible,” “Beauty and the Beast” [Belle]), Bonnie Piesse (STAR WARS: EPISODE III – REVENGE OF THE SITH, STAR WARS: EPISODE II – ATTACK OF THE CLONES), “Raab Himself” ((“Jackass,” “Viva La Bam”), Chandler Riggs (“The Walking Dead”) and Rikishi (WWE, TNA wrestling).

Children and adult attendees are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite villain, superhero or pop culture personality for the chance to win special prizes in costume contests.  Event-goers may also try their hand interactive product exhibits and shop for collectible comics, movie and television memorabilia, toys and games at more than 200 dealer booths.

Special events at Big Apple Comic Con include the TCG Gaming tournament, professional photo opportunities (Photo Ops) with celebrities and others to be announced.

The Penn Plaza Pavilion is located at 401 Seventh Avenue at 33rd St., in the historic Hotel Pennsylvania.  Big Apple Comic Con Spring Edition is the fifth stop on Wizard World’s 13-city 2011 North American tour.  Hours are Saturday, May 21, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.; and Sunday, May 22, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.  Tickets are available in advance online at http://www.wizardworld.com/newyorkcity.html at up to a 15% savings over tickets purchased at the door.  Advance adult single-day tickets are $20; two-day weekend tickets are $35, and tickets are free for children age 10 and under when accompanied by a paid adult (limit two children per adult).  VIP packages with special entry and exclusive items are also available.

NEW YORK and ANAHEIM, Calif., April 14, 2011 – Wizard World Anaheim Comic Con today announced its diverse programming schedule, featuring unique celebrity Q&A’s, music, screenings, artist schools and more for the event, set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 29 – May 1 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Some of the highlights include:
–A Grease cast Sing-A-Long, featuring original movie director Randal Kleiser, cast members Jamie Donnell (Jan), Annette Cardona (Cha Cha) and Jeff Conaway (Kenickie)
–Popular “Batman” panel with Adam West, Burt Ward, Julie Newmar and Lee Meriwether, helping commemorate the 45th anniversary of the start of the iconic television program
–Rare Q&A session with Tricia Helfer, discussing her roles in “Battlestar Galactica,” “Burn Notice” and other appearances
–Special screening of Disney’s “Messenger from Hell,” the first episode of the important new Stan Lee/Neal Adams motion comic “They Spoke Out: American Voices of Protest Against the Holocaust”
–“Buffyfest” Q&A with Nicholas Brendon and twin brother Kelly Donovan
–Wizard Art School and Q&A’s featuring leading artists like Michael Golden, Bill Sienkiewicz, Mike Grell, Greg Horn and others

Unless noted, Anaheim Comic Con programming will take place in Room A and Room B at the Anaheim Convention Center, and is included with admission to the event.  Seating for panels is strictly limited and available on a first come first serve basis and each room will be cleared between panels.

Comic book legends Stan Lee and Neal Adams have teamed up with Disney Educational Productions and Holocaust historian Dr. Rafael Medoff to create “They Spoke Out: American Voices of Protest Against the Holocaust,” a series of motion comics that are changing the way the Holocaust is taught in the United States.  On Sunday, May 1, we will commemorate international Holocaust Remembrance Day with Dr. Medoff presenting the first episode of this remarkable new series, narrated by Lee and illustrated by Adams. “Messenger from Hell” tells the amazing story of a Polish courier who smuggled himself into a Nazi death camp, and then made his way to the U.S. to alert Americans about the genocide. Headliners Winick (“Power Girl, Justice League), Stout (“The Dinosaurs”), Grell (“Green Arrow,” “Green Lantern”), Sienkiewicz (“Elektra,” “Assassin”) and Suydam (“Marvel Zombies,” “Army of Darkness”) will be complemented by Nathan Edmonson (“Who is Jake Ellis?” “The Light), Ethan Van Sciver (“Green Lantern,” “Superman/Batman”), Rob Liefeld (“Deadpool,” “Youngblood”), Whilce Portacio (“Artifacts,” “Uncanny X-Men”), Dustin Nguyen (“Justice League: Generation Lost,” “Batman: Streets Of Gotham”), Phil Jimenez (“Amazing Spider-Man,” “Astonishing X-Men”), Mark Texeira (“Wolverine,” “Moon Night”), Michael Golden (“Batman,” “Hulk”) and Greg Horn (“Spider-Man,” “Turn off the Dark”).

In addition, eight artists from the popular “World of Warcraft” adventures by Blizzard Entertainment will be on hand.  Fans can interact with Thomas Denmark, Cole Eastburn, Lucas Graciano, Mike “Daarken” Lim, Glenn Rane, Tony Washington, Michael C. Hayes and Trent Kaniuga.

Anaheim Comic Con is the fourth stop on Wizard World’s 2011 North American tour, which to date has 13 events scheduled.  Hours are Friday, March 29, 5-9 p.m., Saturday, March 30, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., and Sunday, April 1, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.  Tickets are available in advance online at www.wizardworld.com/anaheim.html at a savings over tickets purchased at the door.  Advance adult single-day tickets are $25 ($30 on site); three-day weekend tickets are $45 ($50 on site), and tickets are free for children age 10 and under when accompanied by a paid adult (limit two children per adult).  VIP packages with special entry and exclusive items are also available.
