Thor: Love and Thunder delivers an opening worthy of a god

Thor: Love and Thunder was the top of the box office with an impressive $143 million. That’s the third biggest domestic opening of the year. Internationally, the film grossed $159 million for a worldwide debut of $302 million.

Domestically, the film beat Thor: Ragnarok which opened with $122.7 million in 2017. That film went on to gross $315.1 million domestically, $535.4 million internationally, for a worldwide total of $850.5 million.

Reviews Love and Thunder have been a bit mixed like the recent Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. That didn’t seem to hurt that film so it’s unlikely to hurt this one, but, we’ll see.

Minions: The Rise of Gru lasted just one week at the top of the box office coming in second this weekend. It earned an estimated $45.6 million to bring its domestic total to $210.1 million. Over the week, the film grossed around $96.1 million internationally, to bring that to $189.8 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $399.9 million after two weeks.

Top Gun: Maverick came in third with an estimated $15.5 million. Domestically, the film has grossed $597.4 million after 7 weeks. Over the week it grossed around $41.7 million internationally to lift that to $586.2 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $1.184 billion. With the success a talk of more movies has begun and should be expected.

Elvis wiggled its hips into fourth place with $11 million. Domestically, the film has grossed $91.1 million after 3 weeks. $17.8 million was earned over the week internationally to bring that total to $64 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $155.1 million.

Rounding out the top five was Jurassic World Dominion which earned an estimated $8.4 million. Domestically, the film has grossed $350.3 million. Over the week, the film added about $33.4 million to its international gross to increase that to $526.1 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $876.5 million.

In comic film news…

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness came in ninth place earning $262,000 and bringing its domestic total to $411.1 million. Internationally, the film grossed about $1.6 million over the week to bring that to $542.4 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed a little over $953.5 million. The film is inching towards $1 billion, will it cross the line? It doesn’t look like it’ll have enough juice to get there.

Initial numbers has 47 films earning $238,305,756 from 26,576 theaters. That’s an increase from last weekend’s already impressive $190,125,476 from 27,735 theaters. It’s another strong weekend for 2022. The average earning was $8,966.95 this past weekend, an increase from the previous weekend’s $6,855.07.

Marvel Future Revolution celebrates Thor: Love and Thunder with a New Epic Invasion and Mighty Thor Companion

Netmarble and Marvel Entertainment’s first open world action RPG, MARVEL Future Revolution, has launched a new game update inspired by Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder. Players can experience the new Epic Invasion: The God Butcher and recruit Mighty Thor as a companion.

In Epic Invasion: The God Butcher, players will interact with characters from the highly-anticipated film Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder while attempting to rescue Thor, who is being held captive from the super villain Gorr. By completing each phase successfully, Thor regains his power before joining his trustworthy allies in the final battle against Gorr. Players will experience an epic boss battle alongside Thor, Miek, Korg, and Valkyrie. Those players who prove themselves worthy will be rewarded with the new Gorr-themed Special Battle Badge.

Players can now recruit the new Mighty Thor as a companion and utilize her skill, Thunder’s Fury. Mighty Thor charges lightning energy by spinning the Mjolnir while striking down opposing enemies. Lightning pierces through enemies and increases in damage as it bounces from one enemy to another. These electrocuted enemies will deal less damage as well. This is designed to effectively target multiple enemies, especially in content like Omega War that involves multiple targets.

To celebrate this new game update, a special “Mighty Omega Wheel” event is now available. Players can spin the wheel to recruit the new companion Mighty Thor just by playing the game. The “Thunder Fragment Craft” event is also available, which will allow players who play Epic Invasion: The God Butcher to receive 3★ Thor whose skills have been improved with this recent update.

Marvel’s Zeus gets the Pop! treatment

Thor: Love and Thunder is sure to heat up the box office and Funko has revealed a new Pop! figure based on Zeus from the film. Zeus is portrayed by Russell Crowe, his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel Future Fight gets new Cosmic game content inspired by Thor: Love and Thunder

Netmarble has released a new update for its blockbuster mobile RPG MARVEL Future Fight featuring out of this world content inspired by Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder. Players will have a variety of new game options to experience including Super Heroes uniforms, a Legendary Battle stage, feature updates, and more.

Starting today, players can show off their enthusiasm and celebrate the highly-anticipated film release by equipping new uniforms for Thor, Thor (Jane Foster) and Valkyrie. A new Legendary Battle stage, “The Fate of New Asgard,” featuring the Super Villain, Gorr the God Butcher, has been added as well. In addition, Thor is now upgradable to Tier-4 with a Striker skill while Thor (Jane Foster) has the ability to be upgraded to Tier-3 with an Ultimate skill. Select heroes, including Angela, Skurge and Destroyer, will receive Awaken Skills and Potential Transcend.

As part of this game update, new improvements and features have been implemented to further enhance the user experience. While the S.H.I.E.L.D. Archive will receive new data collected from various items within the game universe, thanks to its updated User Interface, the players can now check out the Content Rewards in a handy manner. Additionally, players will receive rewards based on individual scores with the Multiverse Invasion Ranking System.

MARVEL Future Fight has over 120 million players across the world with the game currently available worldwide in the App Store and Google Play.

Thor Gets a Love and Thunder Hot Toys Figure

The powerful new 1/6 scale Thor collectible figure from Hot Toys presents the God of Thunder in his new costume based on Marvel Studios’ summer blockbuster – Thor: Love and Thunder!

This exquisitely crafted 1/6 scale collectible figure is inspired by the appearance of Chris Hemsworth in the movie, and features a highly detailed hand painted head sculpt with a luminous lightning effect that emulates Thor’s powers. The articulated muscular body comes with interchangeable hands, offering a variety of posing and display options.

Thor’s newest costume includes a red cape, and gold and blue body armor illuminated with LEDs. Other accessories include an LED light up Stormbreaker, and assorted luminous lightning effects that can be attached to armor and weapons.

All-New Thor: Love and Thunder Content Drops for MARVEL Contest of Champions

Kabam’s mobile fighter Marvel Contest of Champions debuted all-new content themed after the upcoming Marvel Studios film, Thor: Love and Thunder. The Champion Reveal trailer introduces two new Champions, inspired by the film, coming to the popular mobile fighter – Gorr & Valkyrie.

Celebrating the premiere of Thor: Love and Thunder on July 8, all new and existing players who download Marvel Contest of Champions and log in can add either Thor (Ragnarok) or Thor (Jane Foster) to their rosters, beginning July 8 through August 2. With over 200 Champions in The Contest, players can also add other legendary MCU-inspired characters to their roster from Thor including Korg, Odin, Hela, Loki, Guardians of the Galaxy crew Star-Lord, Drax, Rocket, Groot, and more!

Here is a quick look at what The Contest has in store this coming month:

Gorr the God-Butcher grew up on a harsh world, where belief in the gods kept his people from falling to despair. But after his family perished to the deadly environment, Gorr became disillusioned and swore vengeance against the gods that never came to help him or his people. He later obtained the powerful Necrosword, and gained the ability to control dark magic and shadowy constructs. He uses these powers to wreak havoc, destruction, and death on any and all that would call themselves gods.

Former leader of the mighty Valkyrior, and recently crowned sovereign of New Asgard, Valkyrie has long been a bastion to the Asgardian people against the evils of the Nine Realms. Possessing superior strength (even among Asgardians) and armed with the powerful weapons, training, and tactics of the Valkyrior, she is an excellent leader, and a steadfast warrior. Her conviction, though scarred by loss, is stronger than ever, and she is ready and willing to protect the Asgadians of the Battlerealm.

Set your reminders! Gorr will arrive in-game July 14 and Valkyrie on July 28. In the meantime, fans can now check out Gorr and Valkyrie in the all-new Champion Trailer – Fight of the Valkyrie – and catch up on The Battlerealm with character Deep Dive and Special Moves content on the official Marvel Contest of Champions YouTube channel.

It’s Attack on New Asgard with LEGO and Thor: Love and Thunder

We’ve already seen one LEGO set coming based on Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder. Now, an early leak delivers a second with “Attack on New Asgard“.

The set was sold early in a store in Istanbul and features minifigs of Mighty Thor, Thor, and Gorr. Gorr looks to have the Necrosword.

The set is expected to be released on April 26, 2022.
