Marvel Heading Back to The View

Marvel is is heading back to The View this Friday, February 6th, at 11AM EST. They’ll be making a “game-changing” title that’s part of their mega-event Secret Wars.

Marvel has previously used the show to announced their marriage of Northstar to his boyfriend as well as the new female Thor.

The View Announces Thor No More, as a Woman Takes Over

Well that’s interesting. Marvel promised a “thundering” announcement, but that’s not what we were expecting. Expect a more formal release at some point today, but it looks like Angela someone new will be wielding Mjolnir.

Update: Here’s more details, it doesn’t look like Angela at all.

Marvel will announce an all-new “Thundering” title on The View

Marvel ComicsMarvel is again taking advantage of its Disney family and have sent out a release that they’ll be announcing their “latest explosive” title on The View, Tuesday July 15 at 11am EST.

The View is a live, one-hour daily talk show from ABC and features Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy. It’s the original forum in which real women discuss everyday issues, share their opinions and engage in colorful conversations. A perfect form to announce a new comic book series (though Whoopi has admitted being a comic book fan). The show airs in ABC, which is owned by Disney, which also owns Marvel.

Marvel actually hasn’t had the best luck spotlighting their comics this way. On a previous show, the talk went into DC Comics characters, on another show, The Chew, which is also on ABC talk went from Marvel to DC characters as well. We’ll see if the hosts of The View have got their talking points down this time and don’t plug the competition.

The View Covers Astonishing X-Men’s Gay Wedding and Again A DC Comics Plug

Marvel announced the same-sex wedding of Northstar and his boyfriend Kyle on The View today.  But, again the television spot was interrupted with talk about DC comic characters.

Joy Behar – Do you think Batman and Robin can come out of the closet now?

Whoopi Goldberg – I think Bruce Wayne is quite happy. Batman, I’m not too sure..

This is the second time this has happened to Marvel.  The first being The Chew in which a plug for Avengers Vs. X-Men there was also a lot of talk about DC Comic characters.

There was general praise for the progressive nature of the storyline and Whoopi gave hints she used to read comics growing up.

Marvel Announces Landmark X-Men Story Tomorrow on ABC’s The View

Marvel heads to The View tomorrow to announce the event they’ve been teasing for a bit that’ll take place in Astonishing X-Men #50 (*cough* same-sex wedding *cough*).  From the press release we just got….

Tune into ABC at 11a/10a E/C tomorrow as the hosts of ABC’s The View exclusively reveal a major Marvel announcement! This is your first chance to get a look at the moment in Astonishing X-Men #50 that will have everyone talking!

Hopefully they’ve learned from their failure on The Chew.

President Obama Chats Avengers on The View

President Obama was on the View where they grilled him on some pop-culture trivia, including challenging him to name some members of the Avengers.  The President in Geek, who is an admitted comic book fan, had no problem answering the question.

I saw the Avengers, so this is easy, you’ve got the Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man… – President Obama

Robert Kirkman on The View

I hate The View, lets start with that.  Robert Kirkman was subjected to it as a guest on Monday during their Halloween episode.  The fact The Walking Dead was a comic book was mentioned in briefing towards the beginning and no free comics were given to the audience.  This is why we prep the talent before major interviews…. It was great to see him on the show, but there’s just so much fail in this interview (none of which is really Kirkman’s fault).
