F9 Takes the Box Office Again With The Boss Baby: Family Business Delivering a Strong Showing

It’s a long holiday weekend so numbers for Monday should be still incoming but F9: The Fast Saga again won the weekend box office with an estimated $24 million. That brings its domestic total to $125.9 million after two weeks. Internationally, the film added about $39.5 million over the week to bring that total to $374.4 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $500.3 million.

The Boss Baby: Family Business took second place with an estimated $17.3 million. Domestically, the film has earned $23 million. Internationally, the film earned a little over $1.5 million to bring its worldwide total to $24.5 million after its first weekend.

In third place was The Forever Purge which earned an estimated $12.8 million. Domestically, the film has grossed $15.9 million. Internationally, the film earned $3.6 million to bring its worldwide total to $19.4 million.

A Quiet Place Part II dropped from second place to fourth and added $4.2 million to its domestic total. It has now earned $145.8 million. Internationally, the film’s gross stands at $112.1 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $257.9 million.

Rounding out the top five was The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard which added $3 million to its domestic gross bringing that to $31.4 million. Internationally, the film has earned $15.6 million to bring its worldwide total to $47.9 million worldwide.

Initial numbers have 44 films earned $68,949,541 from 30,906 theaters. That’s a bit of a dip from last weekend’s 44 films which earned $98,657,861 from 28,013 theaters. But, it’s still one of the better weekends of the year so far. The average earning was $2,230.94 this past weekend, almost double the previous weekend’s $3,521.86.

F9: The Fast Saga has answered a big question, will people return to movie theaters? The answer is yes as the film brought in an estimated $70 million. The movie had a monster debut, the best of the year which has put the film in fourth already for total domestic gross. It’s the best domestic opening since December 2019 and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

The international gross is even bigger with the film having earned $334.9 million so far. That brings the worldwide total to $404.9 million.

In second place was A Quiet Place Part II which held the spot from the previous week. The film earned an estimated $6.2 million to bring its domestic total to $136.4 million. Over the week, the film added $15.4 million to bring its international total to $112.1 million. Worldwide, the film has earned $248.5 million.

Third place was held by The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard which grossed $4.9 million. That brings the domestic total to $25.9 million. Internationally, the film added $5.5 million domestically to bring that total to $5.5 million for a worldwide total of $31.4 million.

Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway took fourth place with an estimated $4.9 million to bring its domestic total to $28.9 million. Internationally, the film added about $8.5 million over the week to bring that to $79 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $107.9 million.

Cruella held on to fifth place adding $3.7 million to its domestic total. That now stands at $71 million. Over the week, the film earned $17.3 million internationally bringing that total to $112.5 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $183.8 million.

Initial numbers have 44 films earned $98,657,861 from 28,013 theaters. That’s a massive increase from last weekend’s 45 films which earned $45,647,321 from 30,222 theaters. The average earning was $3,521.86 this past weekend, almost double the previous weekend’s $1,510.40.

It’s a new champ at the weekend box office as The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard took first place. The film earned an estimated $11.7 million over the weekend bringing its domestic total to $17 million. Internationally, the film earned $80,497 delivering a worldwide total of $17.1 million.

A Quiet Place Part II dropped to second place with an estimated $9.4 million. Its domestic total now stands at $125.3 million after 3 weeks. Internationally, the film grossed $6.4 million over the week to bring that total to $96.7 million. Worldwide, the film has earned just under $222 million.

In third place was Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway which grossed $6.1 million to bring its domestic total to $20.3 million. Over the week, the film added $12.6 million to its international gross to bring that to $70.5 million. Worldwide, the film has earned $90.8 million.

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It came in fourth place adding an estimated $5.2 million to its domestic total. The film has brought in $53.6 million domestically. Internationally, the film added $21.2 million over the week to bring that total to $89.2 million. Worldwide, the film has earned $142.8 million.

Rounding out the top five was Cruella which earned an estimated $5.1 million making it a close race for fourth. Domestically, the film has grossed $64.7 million. The film got its international push where it earned $65.3 million over the week to bring that total to $95.2 million Worldwide, the film has grossed $159.9 million.
