Elodie Yung is Marvel’s Elektra

Elektra_1_Sienkiewicz_VariantMarvel has announced that they have cast Elodie Yung as Elektra in the second season of Marvel and Netflix‘s Daredevil. Roles of note, she played Jinx in G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

The character of Elektra was hinted at in the show’s first season, so the character being cast is expected. Jennifer Garner played the character in the Daredevil film and a spin-off film.

Yung joins Jon Bernthal who has also been cast in the second season to play Frank Castle, aka The Punisher. The season is expected to feature a clash between the Punisher and Daredevil. How Elektra will play into it is unknown as of now.

According to Marvel’s post announcing the casting:

Yung will play Elektra, a mysterious woman from Matt Murdock’s past whose dangerous and exotic ways may be more than he can handle.

Marvel’s Daredevil will stream only on Netflix in 2016!

Jon Bernthal is the Punisher

jon bernthalAfter week’s a speculation and rumors that Frank Castle aka the Punisher would be coming to the Marvel Cinematic world, Marvel has announced on their website that actor Jon Bernthal is going to be taking on the role. The actor is known for his role in another comic turned television series, The Walking Dead as well as the movies Wolf of Wall Street and Fury.

The character will premiere in the second season of Dardevil which airs on Netflix. That will premiere in 2016 and the first season can be streamed now.

Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb said that “Castle’s appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same.”

From the Marvel announcement:

Bernthal will portray The Punisher, one of Marvel’s most popular characters. He is a vigilante who aims to clean up New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results.

The character has been on the big screen a few times already, and Marvel obtained the rights again recently. The character was portrayed by Dolph Lundgren in a 1989 movie, Thomas Jane in a 2004 film, and Ray Stevenson in a 2008 film.

The character is a former cop, and member of the military, who turns vigilante after his family is gunned down by the mob. His origin has varied at times.

A First Look at Daredevil’s Red Costume

With Marvel’s Daredevil ready to debut on Netflix April 10, Marvel has Tweeted a spoiler, what Daredevil’s “red” costume will eventually look like. For some time now, we’ve seen only the “ninja” look in promotional photos. Now, in a video, we see the character evolve into his more classic (though updated) look.

Marvel and Netflix Release First Looks at Daredevil

Over the weekend, we got a first look of what we can expect Matt Murdock and Daredevil will look like when Daredevil debuts on Netflix next year. The series will run for 13 episodes.

The show stars Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock / Daredevil), Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple), Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Scott Glenn (Stick), Bob Gunton (Leland Owlsley), Toby Leonard Moore (Wesley), Vondie Curtis Hall (Ben Urich), and Ayelet Zurer (Vanessa Marianna).

The look is closer to what he sported in Frank Miller’s Daredevil: Man Without Fear. What do folks think of the look?
