Tank Girl Comes to Albatross Funnybooks

Tank Girl Albatross Funnybooks

Tank Girl has found a new home at Albatross Funnybooks, the comic imprint launched by Eric Powell. The franchise is coming to comic shelves later this year with brand new stories and joining Albatross’ other series like The Goon, Hillbilly, Galaktikon, Grumble, and more. Tank Girl had recently been published by Titan Comics.

Tank Girl co-creator Alan Martin is penning the first series for the character under Albatross, with art from Brett Parson. The comic series is called King Tank Girl, and will focus on the earlier years of the character.

A New Tank Girl Movie is in the Works with Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie‘s company has optioned the rights from MGM to make a new Tank Girl movie. Created by Alan Martin and Jamie Hewlett, Martin took to Twitter with the news.

Just heard that Margot Robbie’s company have optioned rights from MGM to make a new Tank Girl movie – now several months into development. We haven’t been contacted by any of the parties involved with the project, so not sure if there will be any input from the original creators.

Martin and Hewlett created the character who first saw publication in 1988 in the debut issue of Deadline. She has seen series published by Dark Horse Comics and currently by Titan Comics.

The character came to screen in March 1995 in a film directed by Rachel Talalay and starring Lori Petty, Naomi Watts, Ice-T, and Malcolm McDowell. Petty played the title character. With a budget of $25 million, the film went on to earn $4.1 million domestically and about another $2 million internationally. The film was generally panned by critics.
