SDCC 2025: Godzilla is set to dominate the convention with takeovers

San Diego Comic-Con 2025 is about to feel the roar as the King of the Monsters, Godzilla makes an earth-shaking return and unleashes a mighty presence like never before! Toho International, in collaboration with top-tier partners IDW Publishing, Super7, Bandai Namco, and Mondo, is bringing a full-scale Godzilla takeover to the convention week with exclusive products, immersive experiences, and special appearances that celebrate the enduring legacy of the iconic kaiju.

Kicking off the monster-sized festivities, IDW Publishing, the comic book publisher expanding the Godzilla universe with new stories and series, will launch their latest comic Godzilla #1 during the convention. IDW will also provide attendees a rare opportunity to meet the creators of the Godzilla Kai-Sei era series during an on-site press tour and press room interviews. 

Beloved Japanese-inspired toy brand Super7 is going all-out with a full Godzilla pop-up experience and store takeover, complete with rare collectibles, exclusive merchandise, and exciting fan engagements throughout the con at their San Diego store located at 701 8th Ave, San Diego, CA 92101. 

The Godzilla store takeover will also feature a press and influencer hour giving those invited an early access to limited-edition drops, and fans won’t want to miss a special in-store signing event on Friday, July 25 at 11am at the Super7 store with Shin Godzilla Director, Shinji Higuchi, making his appearance as part of Super7’s programming. 

Bandai Namco, the Japanese multinational toy manufacturer and distributor will also release an exclusive Godzilla figure from their Bandai Tamashii line at the con, plus 750 gold Godzilla Minus One figure posters with a few gold print limited edition copies available at the con. Bandai will also host a special signing with Shinji Higuchi at their booth on Saturday, July 26 at 1PM.   Den of Geek will host a live stream giveaway with a slew of Godzilla-themed products from several Godzilla licensing partners.  

Mondo will be joining in on the Godzilla fun with the release of two soft vinyls of the monster, Hedorah Godzilla (Cherry Blossom) + AP Godzilla (GID, Green and Heat).

Attendees can expect to see more exclusive Godzilla products and announcements at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 from Toho International, the Japanese studio’s U.S.-based subsidiary behind Godzilla, Super 7, IDW Publishing, and Mondo.

Super7 Makes a Statement about Layoffs and the Negative Impact of Trump’s Tariff Tax

President Donald Trump’s tariff tax is impacting numerous companies forcing them to make tough decisions. The increased costs have cancelled projects or delayed delivery of others, increased prices, and forced some to lay off staff. Super7, a company focused on toys and collectibles, are one who have been negatively impacted.

The company sent out a very honest and frank email to their subscribers yesterday titled “To Our Valued Super7 Supporters” laying out their new reality. On April 24th the company instituted an 8% surcharge to all non-apparel items ordered from them due to the tariffs.

To Our Valued Super7 Supporters,

Last week was really hard.

As you may have heard, we had to make the difficult decision to let team members go. These are people who were doing the best work in the industry, none of whom deserved to be let go. I want to be clear that this reduction in staff is a direct result of the tariffs applied to our industry. The preceding six months before the tariff announcement had been Super7’s best since the inception of the company nearly 24 years ago. Then the landscape changed overnight.

Make no mistake, the tariff is a tax on American companies and the American consumer. The people who lost their jobs last week were Americans across 16 different states. The 145% tariff effectively shut our business down, bringing new inventory leaving the factory to zero, compounded by massive tariffs on pre-order product already on the water headed to consumers. This week’s change in tariff to 30%, is still a massive increase to this industry that requires significant change to work within.

So what does that mean for Super7? Well, it means we need to be smaller and focus on the core of our business while being very specific about what we make. This allows Super7 to be safe for the future and continue to deliver the awesome product we are known for.

We still believe in the joy that making toys brings to all of us. We believe that the future will be better, and we look forward to continuing to deliver on that joy for the future. We hope to see you there with us.

Super7 is Increasing Prices Due to Tariffs

We’re admittedly behind in our coverage of the impact of President Donald Trump’s tariffs on the comic/toy/game industry but we’ll catch up, starting with Super7.

The company has announced that it has started an 8% surcharge to all non-apparel items.

Super7 features a lot of lines and properties including the popular ReAction line of figures.

To put it in perspective, a $20 figure would have an extra $1.60 added to its price.

While the current prices listed on the site (as of this article) don’t reflect the price increase, when we looked in our cart, the price increase was present.

Dear Super7 Community,

We want to share an important update about how recent changes in global trade and import tariffs are affecting us.

Starting today, April 24th, an 8% surcharge will be added to all non-apparel items.

We didn’t come to this decision lightly. For as long as possible, we’ve worked to absorb these rising costs ourselves—without passing them along to you. Unfortunately, the scale of these increases has made it unsustainable for us to continue doing so entirely. Even with this surcharge, it still doesn’t cover the full impact we’re facing.

We’re doing everything we can behind the scenes to minimize the effect on our community. If conditions change or a better solution becomes available, we’ll reevaluate this surcharge immediately.

Super7 has always been about more than just toys—it’s about the people who collect them. We’ll keep you updated every step of the way, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding and continued support during this time.

Super7 is partnering with the Bruce Lee Family Company to bring the martial arts legend into its world of ULTIMATES! and ReAction figures.

The collaboration kicks off with Bruce Lee ULTIMATES! figures, honoring two of his most memorable looks. “The Challenger” showcases the iconic yellow jumpsuit, while “The Warrior” variant features Bruce in his kung fu outfit. These 7″ scale, highly-articulated, made-to-order figures come with interchangeable parts and additional iconic accessories, making them the ultimate collectible for any Bruce Lee fan. 

The Bruce Lee ULTIMATES! figures are available for pre-order directly from Super7 at $55 each. As a made-to-order release, the pre-order window is open until March 4, with expected delivery of the figures in late 2022.

Super7 Reveals Run the Jewels ReAction Figures

Super7 is collaborating with Hip-Hop duo Run The Jewels to bring El-P and Killer Mike into its ReAction line of collectible figures. 
 
The first release from Super7 is inspired by the Run The Jewels’ hit song “Walking In The Snow” which was accompanied by a two-time Clio Music Gold winning stop-motion music video featuring El-P and Killer Mike action figures leading a toy room rebellion. Presented in a special 2-pack, these ReAction figures are available for pre-order directly from both Super7 and Run The Jewels from October 22 through November 22 at $45 each, with delivery expected in Spring 2022.
 
The Run The Jewels ReAction 2-pack is expected to be just the beginning of the collaboration between Super7 and Run The Jewels, with additional offerings later in 2022. Pre-orders are now open on Super7.com and RunTheJewels.com.
