Terry Moore’s Abstract Studio comes to Dark Horse as an Imprint

Dark Horse Comics has announced a new partnership with Eisner, Harvey, Reuben, and Inkwell Award—winning cartoonist Terry Moore and Abstract Studio. The imprint launches October 2026 with the release of the Strangers in Paradise Omnibus, a new hardcover edition of the cult-classic story featuring newly designed pages and a brand-new cover by Moore created exclusively for this Dark Horse edition. The first volume will collect Strangers in Paradise Volumes 1 (issues #1—#3), 2 (issues #1-#13) and 3 (issues #1—#7) and will also include a curated selection of bonus content, offering readers a deeper look into the series. This edition will be perfect for new readers and is an essential upgrade for longtime fans.

Strangers in Paradise is the compelling love story of three unlikely friends who find themselves bound together by their pasts…

Katchoo is a beautiful young woman living in the spare bedroom of her high school friend, Francine. Brash and outspoken, Katchoo makes no secret of her love for Francine, but that’s not an option for the shy, insecure woman who looks for Prince Charming in a series of bad boyfriends. Enter David, a gentle but persistent artist who seems determined to win Katchoo’s heart. The resulting triangle is a touching comedy of romantic errors that takes the trio down a complicated road of murder, mayhem, and love, featuring an array of characters, including crime bosses, psychopaths, and well-meaning friends.

The Strangers in Paradise Omnibus Volume 1 (hardcover, 480 pages, 10.1875 x 6.625”) will be available in bookstores and comic shops on October 13, 2026. It is now available for preorder at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and your local comic shop and bookstore for $39.99.

Abstract Studio inks an Exclusive Distribution Deal with Diamond Book Distributors

Diamond Book Distributors has announced that it has signed a worldwide distribution agreement with Abstract Studio to exclusively distribute their books to North American and international book markets, as well as libraries. Distribution to the comic book specialty market is handled exclusively by Diamond Comic Distributors.

Under the banner of Abstract Studio, Terry Moore has been publishing his groundbreaking comics and graphic novels for almost thirty years. His seminal work, Strangers In Paradise, carved out a unique space for him in the world of American comics. Originally published in 1993, when The Death of Superman and other superhero titles were dominating comic book sales, Moore set out to explore a different narrative with Strangers in Paradise, one that would eventually be termed “slice-of-life dramedy.” The story centers around the lives of Francine and Katchoo, a pair of twenty-something best friends who eventually fall in love. The fan-favorite series features romance, action, intrigue, and Moore’s signature humor.

Strangers In Paradise was in publication for fourteen years, during which time it received great critical and commercial acclaim, including wins for an Eisner Award, a Reuben Award, and a GLADD Award for Best Comic. Terry would follow it up with Echo, Rachael Rising, Motor Girls, Serial, and the more recent Parker Girls. With consistent, thoughtful, and innovative storytelling, Moore has built a devoted following in comic shops.

Strangers In Paradise Volume 1 will be published with a new format and cover in June 2023, with Volume 2 releasing in October 2023.
