Paizo and Mirrorscape are Bringing Starfinder and Pathfinder to Augmented Reality

Mirrorscape

Extended reality (XR) game development company Mirrorscape has announced its collaboration with Paizo to make acclaimed titles like Pathfinder and Starfinder available on Mirrorscape’s augmented reality tabletop gaming platform.

The Mirrorscape platform, which is slated for release in summer 2023, has generated excitement among tabletop roleplay gamers as an immersive and authentic AR virtual tabletop that allows players to interact with game pieces, terrains and minis exactly as they would in real life. The partnership with Paizo will bring its best-selling titles to Mirrorscape, allowing players and fans to bring legendary quests and gaming adventures they’ve enjoyed around the table to the AR world.

Mirrorscape has built its platform over the course of four years, and throughout this time has dedicated itself to open, community-based experiences that support gamer creativity and homebrew campaigns. This is in direct alignment with Paizo’s offerings, specifically its Open RPG Creative (ORC) License which is in the final stages of drafting.

Mirrorscape will soon launch as an open beta on iOS and Android devices, with Paizo titles available shortly thereafter for players to explore in augmented reality. Mirrorscape is also being developed for compatibility on AR glasses and headsets, which will enable enhanced hand- and eye-tracking tracking for gamers.

Paizo’s Starfinder Makes Its Epic Comics Debut!

Following the announcement and upcoming release of Dynamite‘s next hotly anticipated Pathfinder series, the first in several years, the publisher is announcing another huge collaboration with roleplaying industry leader Paizo. Starfinder, the tabletop innovator’s other smash hit game and mythos, is coming to comic books for the first time in Angels of the Drift!

For the first ever Starfinder comic series coming to stores, Dynamite and Paizo hand picked the best creative voice to take the helm. James L. Sutter served on staff at Paizo for over a decade, including as Creative Director for Starfinder, playing a critical role in developing the world and systems, translating the beloved Pathfinder formula to a science-fantasy landscape. Sutter writes Angels of the Drift alongside artist Edu Menna.

Paizo has been charting the paths of Starfinder’s “iconics” for over half a decade now in game art and supplemental material, but fans have been clamoring for a greater story focus on them, which is now here! Angels of the Drift is elevated by its fun, colorful cast of characters, like any great genre adventure. Navasi is a human woman and reformed pirate, serving as the group’s fast-talking, plan-crafting de facto captain. The hulking, reptilian Obozaya is the main muscle. Ciravel is a precog elf who uses a hoverchair. The hot headed mechanic Quig comes along with a pet robot, and a deadly flamethrower. Last but certainly not least is Keskodai, an insectoid medic… and priest of a death goddess. This squad will all be pulled together as a disaster in the hyperspace dimension known as the Drift has completely thrown off the galaxy’s ability to travel between worlds safely. It all goes south from there!

The series will feature a stunning trio of fantastic covers. Series interior artist Edu Menna is included in the pack, alongside Richard Pace and Biagio d’Alessandro. Pace’s covers across the series will connect to form a larger image. All covers are all printed on premium cardstock paper.

Each issue also comes with extra content for players of the tabletop game: the full series will include playable character stats for all the heroes, new character options inspired by the comic, a brand new playable species, and more—all officially sanctioned by the Starfinder Society!

Dynamite’s Starfinder: Angels of the Drift series will alternate publication months with Pathfinder: Wake the Dead through the remainder of 2023, giving Paizo fans a great chance to follow both series and their connected mythos. The first issue of Starfinder: Angels of the Drift debuts in June 2023.

Pathfinder returns to comics! Starfinder comics announced!

Dynamite Entertainment has revealed the next Pathfinder comic book series! Tabletop connoisseur and fan-favorite writer Fred Van Lente is revving up an all-new party and campaign for Wake the Dead kicking off this May! Writer Fred Van Lente and artist Eman Casallos will be guiding the next adventure!

It’s a new creative team, a new party of Iconics, new lands of Golarion to explore, and unforgettable moments galore in the brand-new adventure. Paizo and Dynamite are teaming up once more to offer not only a thrilling tale but also extra features that players can bring right to their next game nights! It’s been nearly five years since the last major Pathfinder saga in comics, the critically acclaimed Spiral of Bones from writer Crystal Frasier. Since then, the world of Pathfinder in-game and in real-world popularity has exploded even more. With recent record-smashing sales of guidebooks and more, it’s the perfect time for fans of the game to explore this other avenue of carefully crafted content!

The tantalizing prospect of a rendezvous with a Geb defector in possession of priceless secrets from that undead nation is bringing together a diverse group of adventurers to the Nexian metropolis of Ecanus. Van Lente is assembling a mostly all-new grouping of heroes. Readers will get to hang out with Quinn the investigator, Sajan the monk, Lem the bard, and Seelah the champion. All have appeared before in various Pathfinder materials and even comics, but never met each other and partied up until now. Readers of the original hit series by writer Jim Zub and others will be reacquainted with Harsk the dwarf ranger too though! When they all find themselves cornered by the city’s remorseless Deathsealers, can the Iconics band together for survival and escape a city full of hostile wizards alive?

For this new series, Van Lente is joined by artist Eman Casallos, who will bring his dungeon master-esque storytelling to the page. Artists Steve Ellis and Biago d’Alessandro also contribute covers to issues, in addition to Casallos. d’Allesandro’s covers for each issue of the series will also connect to form a larger image when all are collected.

Each issue of Pathfinder: Wake the Dead features premium cardstock covers for a top-tier product for collectors and something durable that will survive the rigors of the gaming table. Issues will also come with bonus material useful for players of the game. These will include playable character stats for the iconic paladin Seelah, new character options for inhabitants of the magical military city of Ecanus, and more. All of these extra features are officially sanctioned by the Pathfinder Society!

Paizo and tabletop fans can stay tuned too, as the first ever Starfinder comics are right around the corner too! More information about that series will be revealed soon!

Paizo Announces Starfinder, a New Interactive Alexa Game Featuring Voice Talent Laura Bailey and Nathan Fillion

The first three episodes of Starfinder are available starting today. The Starfinder Alexa game is a multi-part interactive audio adventure that transports players to a futuristic science-fantasy world where they can make decisions to advance and influence the outcome of the story just by using their voice. By simply saying “Alexa, play the Starfinder game,” customers can play one of the most captivating audio games available on Alexa-enabled devices today. Paizo, the team responsible for the popular Starfinder tabletop game, and Amazon collaborated to reimagine the game for Alexa. Pre-existing fans of the roleplaying game will enjoy this new extension of the familiar world, but previous experience with source material is not required.

Starfinder features an exceptional voice cast of 13 actors, including Nathan Fillion (Castle and Firefly) and Laura Bailey (The Last of Us Part II). Q Workshop Releases New Dice Sets for Pathfinder and Starfinder

Q Workshop has unveiled official Adventure Path dice sets designed and manufactured for the Pathfinder Extinction Curse, Starfinder Attack of the Swarm! and Starfinder The Threefold Conspiracy under a license with Paizo. Each is a complete set of seven polyhedral dice (d4, d6, d8, d10, d100, d12, d20) made from durable plastic and designed with precision engravings.

Two Pathfinder Extinction Curse Adventure Path Dice Sets

The Extinction Curse Adventure Path is a six-part, monthly campaign in which the heroes lead a traveling circus as they unravel a plot to eradicate all life from the islands of the Inner Sea. These sets include dice in red and blue, with yellow painting in complexly carved engravings. The Performer’s set contains a blue d20, d10, and d4. The Entertainer’s set is made with a red d20, d10, and d4. On the highest face, there is the symbol of a circus tent to help players take the stage and win the crowd.

Starfinder Attack of the Swarm! Adventure Path Dice Set

The theme for this campaign is the invasion of the Swarm – a highly intelligent and always hungry monolithic hive-mind with gargantuan living ships. This set is glacier blue with cloudy admixture that resembles mist covering dangers, emerging out of the blue. Q WORKSHOP adorned the faces with pale yellow painting to mark the digits looking like insects and larvae. On the highest faces of all dice, there are symbols of the archenemy of the campaign – the Swarm.

Starfinder The Threefold Conspiracy Adventure Path Dice Set

The Threefold Conspiracy Adventure Path is a six-part, monthly campaign in which the heroes unravel the machinations of insidious aliens who have infiltrated galactic society. Imagine that there are dice for revealing cosmic conspiracy theories. These dice could be a player’s best choice in their fight against twisted alien masterminds and their sinister plot. This set is dark gray with yellow paint to mark the digits and rich engravings. The whole design is inspired by science fiction movie thrillers, where the enemy is alien, unknown and hidden in dark corners of spaceships. On the highest face, there is the symbol of mysterious three triangles that symbolize three layers of space conspiracy.

Each dice set has a $13.00 MSRP. Pathfinder Extinction Curse Adventure Path Performer’s Entertainer’s Dice Sets are available today at paizo.com and q-workshop.com. The Starfinder Attack of the Swarm! and Threefold Conspiracy Adventure Path Dice Sets will be available April 24 and 29, respectively.

Archon Studio Takes Over the Starfinder Miniatures License Replacing Ninja Division

Paizo has announced that Archon Studio will be taking over the license for Starfinder Masterclass miniatures, formerly produced by Ninja Division. As part of the agreement, Archon Studio will fulfill backer rewards for the Starfinder Masterclass Miniatures Kickstarter.

Archon Studio will be producing plastic miniatures instead of resin. They will also be starting over with Kickstarter fulfillment; this means that backers who have already received resin miniatures from Ninja Division will receive those minis again from Archon Studio, this time in plastic.

Archon Studio will also be creating all-new Starfinder Masterclass miniatures. Each month, they plan to produce 4 or 5 of the minis announced during the Kickstarter plus 1 brand-new mini. These minis will be available for sale at your favorite local game store, on archon-studio.com, and on paizo.com. (The Kickstarter-exclusive miniatures of Candy, Cola, Seelah the Paladin, and Epic Obazaya will not be available at retail.)

Archon Studio plans to ship Kickstarter rewards in waves. Approximately every 6 months, the pledge rewards produced during the previous 6 months will be shipped to backers free of charge. Additionally, any time a Kickstarter backer purchases any Starfinder mini from Archon Studio—whether that’s a new mini or a duplicate of a Kickstarter mini—they will also ship any released Kickstarter miniatures due to that backer for no additional charge. Details of which minis are shipping when, and how to purchase other miniatures, will be posted on the Kickstarter page.

Archon Studio will be fulfilling backers in Europe, and Ninja Division will be shipping to the rest of the world. Paizo does not have specific answers to fulfillment questions: if you’re a backer with a question about your order, you’ll need to post the question to the Starfinder Masterclass Kickstarter page.
