Horror comes to a Galaxy Far, Far Away in Star Wars: Dark Droids

The future of Star Wars comics was revealed at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023! Current Star Wars storytellers Charles Soule, Ethan Sacks, Alyssa Wong, Cavan Scott, and Marc Guggenheim joined Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski and Senior Lucasfilm Creative Executive Matt Martin to reveal the upcoming sagas gracing the pages of Marvel’s hit Star Wars comics including “Dark Droids,” an ambitious new event launching this summer!

Following recent events like “War of the Bounty Hunters” and “Crimson Reign,” Star Wars: Dark Droids will be spearheaded by Charles Soule who will write the main limited series alongside artist Luke Ross. Launching in August with Star Wars: Dark Droids #1, the event will also spin off into new series and tie into the four ongoing series that are currently bridging the gap between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi films: Star Wars, Star Wars: Darth Vader, Star Wars: Doctor Aphra, and Star Wars: Bounty Hunters. “Dark Droids” will be a rare horror-fueled Star Wars epic set that erupts when a new threat is unleashed throughout the galaxy, corrupting droids, cyborgs, and everything in-between!

Who or what is the Scourge — and why is no droid safe? As a corruption spreads from one droid to the next, the Rebel Alliance and the Empire both face chaos! What role does Ajax Sigma from last year’s Star Wars: Revelations one-shot play in all of this? And whose side is he on?

Star Wars Celebration Kicks Off with Two Exclusive Items from Gentle Giant LTD!

Three New Star Wars films revealed

At Star Wars Celebration Europe, Kathleen Kennedy was joined by Daisy Ridley to reveal three new films set in the Star Wars universe. James Mangold, Dave Filoni, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will direct the films that will be out in the coming years. No dates or titles were revealed but some details were.

James Mangold’s film will take place in the “dawn of the Jedi,” while Filoni’s will be set during the New Republic. Filoni’s film will connect with the streaming television series Ahsoka, The Mandalorian, and The Book of Boba Fett. The final film, directed by Obaid-Chinoy, will focus on Ridley’s Rey Skywalker and her quest to build a new Jedi Order. It will follow the events of The Rise of Skywalker with some stating it takes place 15 years after the events of that film.

James Mangold is the director behind such films as Cop Land, The Wolverine, Logan, Ford v Ferrari, the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and more.

Dave Filoni is the producer behind much of the television Star Wars universe, and has directed the various Star Wars animated series and a few episodes of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has produced numerous films and shorts and directed 16 projects including two episodes of Ms. Marvel.

Gentle Giant has New Star Wars Exclusives Coming to Celebration 2019!

Gentle Giant Ltd. Is traveling to Chicago, IL to attend Star Wars Celebration April 11-15, and they’re bringing two popular Clone Wars characters – Hera Syndulla and Darth Maul – as this year’s exclusive offerings!   

The captain and heart of the Ghost crew, Hera Syndulla was a gifted pilot and leader. While Hera was a strong commander – and especially adept at dogfighting with TIE fighters – she was also warm and nurturing. The Twi’lek could bring out the best in her team, which consisted of very different personalities, making them believe in themselves, each other, and their struggle against the Empire. Hera will be made available as a 1:6 scale resin bust, for a price of $120.00.

A deadly, agile Sith Lord trained by the evil Darth Sidious, Darth Maul was a formidable warrior and scheming mastermind. He wielded an intimidating double-bladed lightsaber and fought with a menacing ferocity. Though he fell in battle against Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Zabrak from Dathomir would prove to be much harder to destroy than originally believed. Darth Maul will be depicted with his Force-constructed spider legs in a 1:8 scale Collector’s Gallery statue, available for $200.00.

Star Wars: Rogue One Teaser

At Star Wars Celebration a teaser trailer and details on Star Wars: Rogue One were released. The film will center around the formation of the elite team and their mission to steal the plans to the Death Star.
