Fanhome Announces its First Releases In Its Star Trek Die-Cast Collection

Fanhome has announced the first releases in its new line of die-cast scale model replicas of starships featured in the iconic Star Trek franchise that will launch this Fall.

The Star Trek Die-Cast Collection subscription will cover all the modern Star Trek series, including Strange New Worlds, DiscoveryLower Decks, and ProdigyA new die-cast model ship will be released every month starting with the U.S.S. Titan NCC-80210-A, which was featured in the third season of Star Trek: Picard. The latest new additions expand the previously existing fleet of Star Trek die-cast replicas.

The first three ships in the Fanhome Star Trek Die-Cast Collection will include:

  • U.S.S. Titan NCC-80201-A – Captain Shaw’s Constitution III-class ship from Star Trek: Picard.
  • U.S.S. Stargazer NCC-82893 – Rios’s Sagan-class ship, which featured in season 2 of Star Trek: Picard.
  • U.S.S. Farragut NCC-1647 – The ship on which Captain Kirk serves during the Strange New Worlds era.

The ships in the Fanhome collection are constructed with a combination of die-cast metal and high-quality resin. The typical model measures between 7 and 9-inches (180-225 mm) long.

There will also be several oversized replicas for major and capital ships that will be around 11 inches (280 mm) long. Fanhome has worked with Star Trek licensor CBS to make sure the models are as accurate as possible. Designs are all based on the original visual effects models that were in producing the shows.

Each ship also comes with a 16-page magazine that profiles the ship in the Star Trek universe and explores the design process with exclusive art and brand-new interviews with the production team.

The Fanhome Star Trek Die-Cast Collection is being supervised by Ben Robinson, who has written a wide range of books and publications about various Star Trek series and ships and is considered an expert on the franchise by fans and show producers.

Vision gets a series as Paul Bettany returns and Star Trek: Picard’s Terry Matalas is tapped as Showrunner

Vision

Looks like we’ll finally find out what happened to Vision after WandaVision as a new series starring the Marvel character is in the works for Disney+. It’s set for 2026 and Paul Bettany will return for the role. Terry Matalas, who was an executive producer on Star Trek: Picard, will serve as the showrunner.

Vision has had a rough go in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The character died at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. The character was resurrected by his beloved Wanda Maximoff in WandaVision. He was also rebuilt as a ghost white version with no memory of his part. The two versions battled it out at the end of the series with Wanda restoring the memory of the ghost white version and the one she resurrected to fade from existence. The show will presumably follow up on those events.

Review: Star Trek: Picard – Stargazer #1

Star Trek: Picard - Stargazer #1

I can’t say I’m a hardcore Star Trek fan. I’ve watched a lot of the various series, all of the movies, and read a decent amount of the comics. I’m very familiar with the property but a rather casual fan. To me, it’s very “comfort food” being able to escape with characters I enjoy to see their adventures. With the resurgence of the property, we’ve gotten new characters to enjoy, a lot of new adventures, but also to revisit old friends as well, like Jean Luc Picard. Played by Patrick Stewart, the character is the leader so many of us want. Wise in decision but also willing to fight for what’s right. Set between season two and three of Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Picard – Stargazer #1 lets us see exactly what makes this character so great

Written by Kirsten Beyer and Mike Johnson, Star Trek: Picard – Stargazer #1 feels like we’re visiting old friends. With a focus on Picard and Seven, the story takes us back to the early years of Picard as he brokered peace over a planet but the decades haven’t been kind since. Asked to join the Stargazer to explore the planet Picard saved, they discover a mystery and possibly death.

There’s an interesting theme in the issue that Beyer and Johnson are going with. Picard makes it clear that not everything is a fight, diplomacy must come into play. But, Seven points out that at times a fight is at times all there is and not everything can be clean, clear, and easy. In the end, they’re both right and the two viewpoints are sure to come together in some way as the story progresses. It’s a little too obvious but in many ways follows a familiar and comfortable pattern that is Stark Trek.

The art by Angel Hernandez is good. With color by J.D. Mettler and lettering by Neil Uyetake, the characters are familiar and look mostly like the actors. That’s partially what holds the comic back as well. Things are slightly off visually, hitting an almost “uncanny valley” moment taking you out of things just a bit. But, it all still looks good. There’s nothing really bad.

Star Trek: Picard – Stargazer #1 is familiar. That both works for and against it. It’s hard to read the comic and not hear the actors’ voices. It’s hard to look at the panels and not see them. It’s easy to dive into the comic but it’s partially driven by the television show and actors we love. That aspect both sucks you in and takes you out of it at times. Still, there’s a nice flow to the comic and a lot of potential as to where it goes from here. For fans of Seven and Picard, this is one you don’t want to miss.
