SDCC 2024: Sony Pictures brings The Boys, Cobra Kai, and Twisted Metal

Sony Pictures Television will make its San Diego Comic-Con debut featuring panels, activations, giveaways, signings and exclusive content, as well as its first-ever booth on the convention floor (Booth #4745) featuring fan-favorite series The BoysCobra KaiTwisted Metal and For All Mankind. Additionally, two new animated shows from SPT, Universal Basic Guys and Sausage Party: Foodtopia will be previewed in special animation panels during the convention. 

SONY PICTURES TELEVISION BOOTH (#4745)For the first time ever, SPT will be on the convention floor with an interactive space showcasing fan-favorite shows The BoysCobra Kai and Twisted Metal. Over the course of the convention, Sony will host exciting and engaging activations, contests, exclusive giveaways, panels and surprise talent appearances. The SPT booth will showcase the latest BRAVIA TVs and home audio equipment from Sony BRAVIA eElectronics. 

Activities and events at the Sony booth include:

  • GIVEAWAY: The Boys Limited Special-Edition Custom-Printed T-Shirts in Partnership with American Apparel® | Exclusive to San Diego Comic-Con attendees, special limited-edition custom-printed t-shirts featuring exclusive designs of The Boys will be given away at the SPT Booth (#4745) on the convention room floor. 

In partnership with American Apparel, the giveaway will feature four original designs screen printed on American Apparel’s 2001 fine jersey, a classic tee in a variety of sizes. The activation aims to create a lasting experience for booth visitors, embodying the brand’s vision of ‘Crafting the Culture.’  By visiting the booth and following @americanapparel and @sptv on Instagram, fans can receive a custom t-shirt produced directly on-site and made to order. Supplies are limited on each day.

Marvel and Sony bring Spider-Man’s world to the small screen

Marvel and Sony Pictures Television are teaming up for a suite of live-action series spinning out of the world of Spider-Man. MGM+ and Amazon Prime Video have ordered the series.

Silk: Spider Society will be the first show with Angela Kang as showrunner.

The series will debut first on MGM+ (which is the relaunched Epic). It will then air on Amazon Prime Video in the United States. Internationally, the series will air on Amazon in 240 countries and territories.

Sony controls over 900 Marvel characters. Phil Lord and Chris Miller will exec produce the suite of series with Amy Pascal.

Silk was created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos. She cameoed in The Amazing Spider-Man #1 in 2014 with a full appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #4 that same year. The character, Cindy Moon, is a Korean-American woman bitten by the same spider that bit Peter Parker and escapes imprisonment to search for her missing family.

SDCC 2020: The Boys is Getting a Third Season and Aftershow with Aisha Tyler

Amazon Studios has announced it has officially ordered a third season of its hit series The Boysco-produced with Sony Pictures Television, ahead of its highly anticipated second season debut on September 4. The announcement was made today during The Boys Comic-Con@Home Panel. Additionally, it was revealed that Emmy Award-winning host Aisha Tyler will serve as host and executive producer of the official The Boys aftershow Prime Rewind: Inside The BoysIn each episode of Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys, members of the cast, creative team, and other special guests will join Tyler as they dissect the events that unfold in each episode.

Based on The New York Times best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys was developed by showrunner Eric Kripke (Supernatural), who also serves as writer and executive producer. Joining Kripke as executive producers are Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen (Preacher), Evan Goldberg (Preacher), and James Weaver (Preacher), Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz (Prison Break) and Pavun Shetty (New Girl), as well as Phil Sgriccia, Craig Rosenberg, Rebecca Sonnenshine, Ken Levin and Jason Netter. Ennis and Robertson also co-executive produce along with Michael Saltzman. The eight-episode Amazon Original series will be available on Prime Video in more than 200 territories around the world, and is produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television Studios with Point Grey Pictures, Kripke Enterprises and Original Film.

The even more intense, more insane Season 2 finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.

The Supes of The Seven also include Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), The Deep (Chace Crawford) and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell).

Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys, executive produced by Michael Davies, Aisha Tyler, Julia Cassidy, Eden Sutley and Jennifer Ryan, will debut on August 28 with a look back at season one and continues on September 4 to dive into each episode of Season 2 as it rolls out through the October 9 season finale. Amazon Studios, Embassy Row and Sony Pictures Television produce the companion series.

Prime members can stream The Boys exclusively via the Prime Video app for TVs, connected devices including Fire TV, mobile devices and online. Members can also download it to mobile devices for offline viewing at no additional cost to their membership. Cobra Kai: The Karate Kid Saga Continues

IDW Publishing brings the lifelong rivalry between Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence out of the dojo and into comic book stores with an all-new Cobra Kai: The Karate Kid Saga Continues miniseries, slated for release in Fall 2019.

In collaboration with Overbrook Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television, IDW will develop new stories set within the continuity of the YouTube Premium original series, based on iconic characters from the cultural touchstone Karate Kid film series.

The Cobra Kai: The Karate Kid Saga Continues comic book series will be written by Denton J. Tipton and illustrated by Kagan McLeod. The first issue, slated to debut in October, will feature cover artwork by McLeod, as well as photos of the beloved cast and other iconic surprises.

Starting with “Johnny’s Story” Part 1 (of 4) in October, readers will see The Karate Kid movie in a whole new light in this retelling through the eyes of Johnny Lawrence, two-time All Valley Tournament champion. When the new kid makes moves on the girl that broke Johnny’s heart, he vows to settle the score and win back his love… or so goes the story Sensei Lawrence tells his students nearly 35 years later.

Final Fantasy XIV is Being Developed into a Live-Action Series

Sony Pictures Television and Hivemind announced a new partnership with global video game powerhouse Square Enix to develop a first-of-its-kind, live-action adaptation of a beloved chapter from the blockbuster Final Fantasy series, which has sold more than 144 million units worldwide across three decades. 

The live-action television series will tell an original story set in the fantastic world of Eorzea, based on Final Fantasy XIV, the franchise’s blockbuster online role-playing game. Since it first debuted in 2013, the online title has continued to delight and amass millions of players around the world year over year and only further cemented Final Fantasy as one of the most storied and influential franchises in gaming history.

Inspired directly by the world and characters of the title’s fourteenth installment, the project will embrace the bold and genre-bending sensibilities of the revered and long-running Final Fantasy series as it explores the struggle between magic and technology in a quest to bring peace to a land in conflict. Filled with iconic hallmarks of the title’s revered mythology – magitek and beastmen, airships and chocobos – the forthcoming series will feature a mixture of new and familiar faces. Those will, notably, include the live-action debut of Cid – one of the games’ central and most beloved characters who has appeared in almost every installment of the franchise to date. 

Final Fantasy’s multibillion-dollar legacy is one of the most influential pieces of global pop culture of the past 30 years with a footprint that now encompasses all major home and handheld consoles, as well as toys, card games, manga, soundtracks, concerts and live events on three continents. The upcoming television adaptation represents a momentous new milestone for the franchise and will mark the first time a Final Fantasy world – and its many beloved inhabitants – will be realized in live action.

Jason F. BrownSean Daniel, and Dinesh Shamdasani of Hivemind will serve as Executive Producers on the series. Ben Lustig and Jake Thornton have been commissioned to write for the series and will also serve as Executive Producers.

New York Comic Con 2017: Dynamite Brings Charlie’s Angels to Comics

Once upon a time there were three very different little girls who grew up to be three very different women with three things in common: they’re brilliant, they’re beautiful, and they work for a mysterious man named Charlie. Thanks to a new partnership between Dynamite Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television, they now have something new in common: they will all reunite for brand-new adventures in Dynamite’s upcoming Charlie’s Angels comic book series, slated to hit shelves in 2018!

The 1976 Charlie’s Angels television series was created by Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts, with industry legend Aaron Spelling serving as Executive Producer for the show during its 5-season run.  The iconic series followed the crime-fighting adventures of three powerful women working in a Los Angeles private detective agency for the mysterious and unseen Charlie Townsend. The smash-hit series saw more than 100 episodes, and became a cult hit for decades to come thanks to subsequent syndication and DVD distribution deals.
