SDCC 2024: Sean Patrick Flanery is John Carter in a new audio series

Announced at San Diego Comic-Con, John Carter of Mars is getting an audio series featuring Sean Patrick Flanery in the title role. The project is currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter.

But, beyond the audio series the crowdfunding projects offers a role-playing game supplement compatible with both the Fifth Edition of the world’s most popular RPG and OSR (“Old School Revival”) rules, digital download of the audio drama, a double CD set with Frank Frazetta art, a foldable map of Barsoom, limited-edition novels published in English and native Barsoomian (Martian), and the first-ever plush of John Carter’s loyal companion, Woola!

John Carter of Mars: The Audio Series is produced by Pocket Universe Productions and authorized by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc.

The campaign runs until Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 2:59 AM EDT.

Patrick Stewart, Stan Lee, Eliza Dushku at New Orleans Comic Con

Star Trek: The Next Generation actor Sir Patrick Stewart, comics legend Stan Lee, Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Eliza Dushku, Reservoir Dogs headliner Michael Madsen and WWE® Superstar CM Punk® top the standout lineup of celebrities scheduled to attend Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con, Nov. 30 – Dec. 2, 2012, at New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.  They will be joined by an All-Star collection of well-known artists and a variety of activities, exhibitors and special attractions in the final event on Wizard World’s 2012 calendar.

Stewart and Lee will appear on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 1-2, while Dushku and Punk are scheduled to attend on Saturday and Madsen all three days.

Other headliners on the Wizard World New Orleans roster include Dean Cain (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, 90210), Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead, Henry), Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, Night at the Museum), Kevin Sorbo (Hercules, The Legendary Journeys, Andromeda) and the Boondock Saints trio of Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flanery and David Della Rocco.

The lineup of superstar comic creators in New Orleans is also impressive, with Eisner Award Hall of Famer Neal Adams (Batman, Green Lantern), Eisner nominees J.G. Jones (Final Crisis, Wanted), Ethan Van Sciver (Firestorm, Green Lantern) and Ron Garney (Captain America, Wolverine), Phil Jimenez (Spider-Man, X-Men) and Michael Golden (Hulk, Daredevil) leading the way.

Wizard World To Debut Oregon Comic Con, Feb. 22-24, 2013

Wizard World, Inc. today announced a new addition to its schedule of pop culture conventions as Wizard World Oregon Comic Con will debut, February 22-24, 2013, at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland.  The trio of Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flanery and David Della Rocco, who starred in the cult classic The Boondock Saints, and superstar artist Greg Horn are the first special guests scheduled to attend.

Additional celebrities, artists, exhibitors and other attractions will be announced in the coming weeks.

Wizard World Oregon Comic Con is currently the first event on the 2013 Wizard World slate, which also includes shows in Philadelphia (May 30 – June 2) and Chicago (August 8-11), with dates for others to be determined.  The 2012 schedule continues this month in Columbus, Ohio (Sept. 28-30), Austin, Texas (Oct. 26-28) and New Orleans (Nov. 30 – Dec. 2).

NEW YORK and ROSEMONT, Ill., June 22, 2011 – North America’s largest pop-culture tour continues as Wizard World Chicago Comic Con returns to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, August 11-14, with superstar guests Patrick Stewart, Bruce Campbell, Christopher Lloyd, Morena Baccarin, Felicia Day, Academy Award Winner® Lou Gossett Jr. and James Marsters headlining the list of celebrity attendees.  The event will bring together thousands of fans of all ages and dozens of celebrities and industry professionals to celebrate the best in pop-fi, pop culture, movies, graphic novels, comics, toys, video gaming, television, sci-fi, gaming, original art, collectibles, contests and more.

Stewart (X-MEN, “Star Trek: The Next Generation”) will attend on Friday and Saturday only.  Campbell (“Burn Notice,” ARMY OF DARKNESS) and Day (“The Guild,” “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”) are scheduled to appear on Saturday and Sunday.  The three-time Emmy Award winner Lloyd (BACK TO THE FUTURE, “Taxi”) and Baccarin (“V,” “Stargate SG-1”) will be available on Saturday only.  Marsters (“Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” “Caprica”) is scheduled for Friday through Sunday.

And Sunday, August 14, is Kids Day at Chicago Comic Con, with face painting, balloons, a “passport” treasure hunt and other activities designed especially for kids!  Other special events include card gaming tournaments, professional photo opportunities (Photo Ops) and more.

Chicago Comic Con is the seventh stop on Wizard World’s 2011 North American tour.  Hours are Thursday, August 11, 5 – 9 p.m.; Friday, August 12, noon – 8 p.m.; Saturday, August 13, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.; and Sunday, August 14, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.  Tickets are available in advance online at http://www.wizardworld.com/chicago.html at a savings over tickets purchased at the door.  Advance adult single-day tickets are priced at $25 ($35 on site); four-day all-session tickets are $50 ($60 on site), and tickets are free for children age 10 and under when accompanied by a paid adult (limit two children per adult).  VIP packages with special entry and exclusive items are also available on a limited basis.
