Starburns Industries Press has launched a Kickstarter for their Comics Comics anthology which is completely written by stand-up comedians.

Backer rewards include the comic in print and digital, two Kickstarter exclusive editions, Starburns swag, our other comics, retailer tiers, and even a tour of the studio that produces Rick and Morty, HarmonQuest, and Animals.

Comics Comics is an ongoing collection of original stories with each issue containing at least 48 pages of brand-new stories written by headliners, cult favorites, and newcomers drawn by artists from every corner of the comics world.

Comics Comics features such voices as Patton Oswalt (MST3K, Happy!), Paul Scheer (How Did This Get Made?, The League), Sam Jay (SNL), Jackie Kashian (The Dork Forest), Quinta Brunson (Broke, Up for Adoption), Megan Koester (Coming to the Stage, Corporate), Sara Benincasa (Real Artists Have Day Jobs), Carolyn Main (Pitch, Please!), Eliot Rahal (New Comic Book Day), Rose Matafeo (Funny Girls), Nick Giovannetti (Bad Guys), with more announced throughout the campaign.

Review: Deluge #2

In case you missed the review of issue #1, Deluge is the story of an undercover FBI Agent trapped in New Orleans and on the run from a group of rogue cops in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina written by J.D. Oliva and illustrated by Richard P. Clark.

In Deluge’s post-Katrina New Orleans, some cops are crooked, some criminals are not what they seem and Hurricane Katrina might just prove to be one of the lesser problems this poor town has to worry about.

The plot thickens as the N.O.P.D open fire on a pair of men on a rooftop, only for one to escape.This pivotal plot point draws the line in the sand for who is in, who is out and who is playing a whole other game in the conspiratorial plot that was introduced in issue one and deepens in issue 2.

It keeps its cynical view of police brutality and the uselessness of bureaucracy to the point of out-and-out corruption in the highest ranks of America’s first line of defense and ties it all into a in a cliff hanger you won’t see coming.

Review: Deluge #1

Deluge is the story of an undercover FBI Agent trapped in New Orleans and on the run from a group of rogue cops in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Deluge is a triumph.

It is a buddy-cop, noir, comment on current events and culture in pre- and post Katrina New Orleans.

Writer J.D. Oliva and artist Richard P. Clark are a great team. Clark’s art matches the tone of Oliva’s story telling with perfect synchronicity.

The first issue sets up the social commentary of morality, race, class and police brutality in America. It also has more than a hint of a conspiracy that you just know goes all the way to the top.

It starts with introducing two sets of partners from two very different walks of life. And all four have their own ways of seeing the world, and they all become remarkably individual very quickly.

This issue will leave you wanting more. I can’t wait for issue #2.

Deluge #1 is available on comiXology January 13.
