Collectors Acquires Beckett

Beckett

Collectors, the company behind the grading service PSA, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Beckett. Beckett is another grading service as well as the respected price guide and marketplace. Beckett will remain an independent brand within Collectors and operate on its own. That includes customer experience, standards around grading, marketplace, marketplace, magazines and price guides.

Collectors has said there will be no change in pricing as part of the acquisition.

Dr. James Beckett published his first Sport Americana Baseball Card Price Guide book in 1979 to the launch of the first issue of Beckett Baseball magazine five years later. It eventually morphed into Beckett Media that includes grading services, business solutions, publications, digital tools, a marketplace, and more.

Collectors includes PSA, PCGS, SGC, and Card Ladder and is part of Collēctīvus which also includes Southern Hobby, Dragon Shield, Sales First, Card Manager, and Merchant Guild.

PSA Pauses Card Grading Submissions from Outside the US due to Tariff Concerns

PSA logo

Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) has announced that it is no longer taking submissions from outside of the US due to the recent tariffs enacted by President Donald Trump.

The move by PSA is temporary and in order to protect international customers from tariff expenses. The tariffs would be against the value of orders rather than the fee PSA charges for their service.

There are still options to submit to the service outside of the United States which you can read on their site as well as the company’s full statement.

In their example an order valued at $500 would be subject to an tariff of $50 at 10% and $100 at 20%. Some tariff percentages are far higher in some countries.

Where the negative really comes in are cards that have already been sent but not yet delivered. Orders entering the US after 12:01AM on April 5th may be affected by tariffs, and may also face “not-yet-announced” retaliatory tariffs when they are sent back.

Batgirl Fights for Equal Pay

In 1972 Batgirl, along with Batman and Robin, were in a PSA to advocate for Equal Pay. The fight continues 40 years later. Today is Equal Pay Day, it represents the additional 3 months and 14 days women must work every year to earn what men made the previous year. Gender pay exists and American women earn 78 cents for every dollar a man makes.
