Joel Adams, Denys Cowan, Jae Lee, Carla Speed McNeil, Rod Reis, and Paul D. Storrie are coming to Baltimore Comic Con 2025

Make your way to the 2025 Baltimore Comic-Con this October 17-19 at the Inner Harbor’s Baltimore Convention Center. Baltimore Comic-Con has announced comics creators Joel Adams, Denys Cowan, Jae Lee, Carla Speed McNeil, Rod Reis, and Paul D. Storrie as guests of the 2025 event. Joel Adams is the eldest son of famed comic book legend Neal Adams. He graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York, in 1988, and moved to Los Angeles to work at Neal’s west coast offices of Continuity Studios. While at Continuity, he dabbled in comic books, helping out on Continuity titles such as Ms. Mystic and Bucky O’Hare. Outside of Continuity, he did covers for Alpha Productions’ Blood Thirst and penciled for Penthouse Comix’ Young Captain Adventure.

In 1996, Joel went to Marvel Animation to do all the character design for The Hulk animated series. From there, he went to FOX/Film Roman to design the Emmy Award-winning King of the Hill, then to FOX Family to design Nascar Racers.

While working for animation companies, Joel was picked up for all of the licensing art for these shows and others by the licensing companies handling them. Joel’s art has appeared on products from The Hulk, Nascar Racers, King of the Hill, Captain Scarlet, The Mask (animation), Mighty Morphing Power Rangers, Power Rangers: Light Speed Rescue, Power Rangers: Wild Force, Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire, and more. 

Denys Cowan is an accomplished and celebrated comic and animation creator and illustrator. Founder of Milestone Media, which sold over 10 million copies of groundbreaking comic books, Cowan has numerous credits to his name, including: Black Racer, Deathstroke, Black Lightning & Hong Kong Phooey, Batman: Lovers & Madmen, Blind Justice, Black Panther: Flags of Our Fathers, The Question, Hardware, and Static.

Static became one of the most beloved characters in the Milestone Universe, spawning a hugely successful animated series, Static Shock. During its run, the series was the only animated show not produced by Nickelodeon to dominate ratings. Denys directed and produced the series, which was nominated for an Emmy.

As Senior Vice President of Animation at BET, Cowan was responsible for the creation, development, and production of animated programming for the network. This included the development and production of the Black Panther animated series. Prior to his time at BET, Denys was instrumental in developing and producing the first season of the prime time animated series, The Boondocks. Serving as Senior Vice President of Motown Animation and Filmworks, he created and developed a number of shows with Fox, ABC, Disney, and Nickelodeon. Cowan also co-created the character of Henri Ducard, as played by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins.

Jae Lee is a Korean-American comic book artist, known for his dark style. In 1990, he became one of the youngest artists ever to work for a major publisher. He is an Eisner Award-winner for his work on Marvel’s The Inhumans. His art can also be seen in Stephen King’s Dark Tower and Batman/Superman. Jae is also the co-creator of The Sentry for Marvel Comics.

Carla Speed McNeil is the author and artist of Finder. She started working in comics in 1997 and hasn’t stopped since. She has also worked on a variety of projects like providing art for Queen & Country: Operation: Stormfront from Oni Press, adapted and drew Pendragon: The Merchant of Death (based on the prose book by D. J. MacHale) for Simon & Schuster, and drawn fan-favorite Frank Ironwine for Apparat/Avatar, as well as two pages of Transmetropolitan for DC/Vertigo, both by Warren Ellis. Bad Houses was released in 2013 by Dark Horse Comics, after which she began a long series of collaborations with writer Alex De Campi, including Ashes, My Little Pony (IDW), and No Mercy (Image) beginning April 2015. Other smaller projects have included drawing Legends of Red Sonja (Dynamite), the short story “Here. In My Head” (with writer Elizabeth Genco) for Comic Book Tattoo from Image, and shorts in notable anthologies such as The Sleep of Reason and Cautionary Fairy Tales of Africa. She has won an Eisner Award, Ignatz Awards, the Kim Yale New Talent Award from Friends Of Lulu, the L.A. Times Book Prize for graphic novel in 2012, and three Stumptown Comic Arts Awards.

Finder, the science fiction series Carla Speed McNeil started in 1996, was “born” in Maryland, and so were her two kids and three cats. She and her husband were born and raised in Louisiana, but they’ve lived here longer than they ever lived there, which is a funny thought sometimes. She’s won an Eisner, several Ignatzes, and the LA Times Book Prize. She teaches comics at MICA in Baltimore, and her COVID hobb-session was making teeny tiny doors.

A colorist since the late 90s for DC Comics titles such as Aquaman and Justice League, Rod Reis started working as a full artist doing interiors in 2015, launching two creator-owned comics at Image, C.O.W.L. and Hadrian’s Wall. Soon after, he did art for several Marvel projects such as Doctor Strange, Winter Soldier, and New Mutants.

Paul D. Storrie has been writing comics since the late ’90s, starting with Robyn of Sherwood, about the daughter of Robin and Marian, at Caliber Comics. Since then, he has worked for Moonstone Books, DC Comics, Marvel, IDW Publishing, Lerner Books, and more. His most recent publications are the Eisner-nominated Stanley’s Ghost and the follow up, Stanley & The Forgotten Forest. He’s perhaps best known for his DC Animated Universe mini-series Gotham Girls, which was reprinted in 2020 as Harley Quinn & the Gotham Girls.

Guy Dorian Sr., appearing courtesy of Comics & Gaming (Booth #1107), is a comic book artist, toy designer, and cinematic art designer with over 30 years of experience who has worked for some of the largest mainstream companies in the world, including Marvel, DC, IDW, JusToys, 20th Century Fox, Marvel Entertainment, and Storm King Productions, as well as on several Hollywood films. You can see his work as an inker for Marvel Entertainment products all over the world in magazines, coloring and activity books, video games, wall posters, cups, hats, t-shirts, and more. You name it, he’s done it!

In comics, Guy has worked on titles such as The New Warriors, Marvel Comics Presents, and Night Thrasher. He is also the co-creator of the character Scorch alongside Dan Slott, who has appeared in Marvel comics and the TV series Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. His more recent comic works include pencils in ROM for IDW, ROM and The Micronauts, John Carpenter’s Hyperbreed, GI Joe: A Real American Hero, and the list keeps going!

In toy design, Guy has worked on toys for some of the world’s greatest wrestlers including Bret Hart, Doink The Clown, Randy Savage, Shawn Michaels, and the Undertaker for the original “Bend ‘Ems” toy line from 1994-1998, and recently announced working with The Major Wrestling Figure Company’s Randy Savage design and trading card. He has also designed toys for The Tick, Hercules, Xena, and Youngblood.

In cinema and television, Guy has worked on the X-Men: Apocalypse movie posters as well as the character development for the Silver Surfer cartoon series. A great Easter egg is that his first cover for an independent company was used as a poster featured in Kevin Smith’s cult classic, Chasing Amy.

Mr. Dorian continues to work alongside many of the world’s greatest comic book legends, as well as major Hollywood producers to soon release new TV series and films of his own creations. Also upcoming comic and toys are Mounties vs. Werewolves with Larry Hama and Lost Landers (lostlanders.com) toys and comics with his partner and co-owner of Bamco Toys Inc., Thomas Chillemi. 

This man knows how to keep many irons in the fire and there’s barely a corner of the world his artwork hasn’t touched at some point!

Ron Randall is the creator/writer/artist of the scif-fi comic series Trekker, featuring bounty hunter Mercy St. Clair. He produces and publishes continuing volumes of the series through a wildly successful string of Kickstarter campaigns.

Stuart Sayger is a professional illustrator who works primarily in the comic book industry. Known for his moody atmospheric art, Sayger first broke into the industry as the creator of Shiver in the Dark, producing the comic independently from start to finish. Recent projects include producing covers for GI Joe, Dejah Thoris, Jeepers Creepers, Vampirella, and covers for KISS and Bloodshot. Past comic book projects include: Walking Dead, X-Files, 30 Days of Night, Xena Warrior Princess, Lego Bionicle, Micronauts, and Rom. Brenna Thummler, appearing at 5pm on Saturday courtesy of Third Eye Comics (Booth #901), has always known her life is haunted. Much like Marjorie Glatt, she grew up in a small Pennsylvania town, where piano practice and ghost stories were part of her daily routine. It wasn’t until she attended Ringling College of Art and Design, however, that she realized her passion for storytelling (as well as her hatred of laundry). Now back in her hometown, she spends her days drawing, writing, and suspicious of her sheets.

Peter J. Tomasi, recipient of the 2018 Inkpot Award for achievement in comics, is a New York Times best-selling author known not only for his writing on Superman, Batman and Robin, Super Sons, Green Lantern Corps, Batman-Detective Comics, and many more, but also as an award-winning group editor at DC Comics for 15 years where he ushered in new eras for Batman, Justice Society of America, Green Lantern, and the best-seller, Kingdom Come. 

Tomasi is also the author of House of Penance, nominated for best graphic novel at 2018 Angouleme International Comic Festival, Light Brigade, The Mighty, Blood Tree, and the critically-acclaimed graphic novel The Bridge: The Building of the Brooklyn Bridge published by Abrams ComicArts. Tomasi also wrote the screenplay for the popular animated film Death of Superman, and his screenplay for The Bridge was on The Black List as one of the best unproduced Hollywood scripts of that year.

Robert Venditti is a New York Times bestselling author whose characters and stories have been adapted to film, television, animation, and video games. Some of his works include the monthly comic book series Superman ’78, Hawkman, Green Lantern, and Justice League for DC Comics, X-O Manowar and Wrath of the Eternal Warrior for Valiant Entertainment, and the graphic novel Six Days, inspired by the story of his uncle’s participation in D-Day. He has also adapted Rick Riordan’s global bestselling Percy Jackson and the Olympians and The Heroes of Olympus series. Visit the 24th annual Baltimore Comic-Con on September 8-10, 2023 at the Inner Harbor’s Baltimore Convention Center. The Baltimore Comic-Con is pleased to announce the appearance of comic guests Ron Garney, Adam Hughes, Ron Randall, Alison Sohn, Paul D. Storrie, and Billy Tucci in 2023. Tickets are available now so attendees can avoid ticket counter lines.

Ron Garney, over the course of his established thirty-five year career, has built a large fan following, illustrating some of the industry’s greatest characters, such as The Amazing Spider-Man, Incredible Hulk, Silver Surfer, X-Men, JLA (for DC), Captain America, Ghost Rider, Moon Knight, G.I. Joe, Skaar: Son of the Hulk, Wolverine, Ultimate Captain America, Uncanny X-Force, Thor: God of Thunder, his creator-owned Men of Wrath, Daredevil, Savage Sword of Conan, and is currently working with film legend Keanu Reeves on the comic BRZRKR, which has also been picked up for a live action film and anime series on Netflix. Ron has been nominated twice for the industry’s coveted Eisner Award for Best Artist and Best Serialized Story (Captain America) and an Inkwell nomination for BRZRKR. Ron has also worked in the film industry, notably on I Am Legend (starring Will Smith) as costume illustrator and did illustrating for Marvel’s Netflix series, Daredevil. He is also a songwriter and musician, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu blackbelt and instructor, and resides in Connecticut with his wife and four children. Adam Hughes is, arguably, the single greatest artist in this entire paragraph. With an illustration career spanning 37 years, he has worked for everyone from Hugh Hefner to Mickey Mouse. He’s produced comic book artwork for all the Stars, both Wars and Trek. He’s drawn Betty, Veronica, AND Hellboy. You name it: if they’re in funnybooks, he’s drawn them. Except Daredevil. He’s never been asked to draw Daredevil professionally, and he’s a tad bitter about it.

Born in New Jersey, he escaped when he was 25, spending the remaining years in Atlanta, Georgia. He likes Georgia. It’s close to DisneyWorld. Adam has won most major comics awards, like the Eisner, Harvey, and Inkpot awards. He’s even had a book on the New York Times bestseller list! It peaked at #2, because of those damned TWILIGHT books. Seriously, though. I coulda been #1. I can sparkle. He! We mean “he!” *cough*

When backed into a corner, Adam can also write. Not this bio, no; we mean REAL writing. COMIC BOOKS. In fact, he can do just about everything, except lettering. Comic book lettering is sorcery, it’s chaos magic, and anyone who can do it well is obviously some sort of necromancer.

Adam dislikes hugs, and one will cost you $20. In his spare time, he is married to the fabulous Allison Sohn.

Ron Randall is the creator/writer/artist of the scif-fi comic series Trekker, featuring bounty hunter Mercy St. Clair. He produces and publishes continuing volumes of the series through a wildly successful string of Kickstarter campaigns.

Allison Sohn is an illustrator who while she has contributed covers to comics books, is best known for her work in sketch and trading cards. Her work has graced such distinguished card sets as Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings, Women of Marvel and DC comics-themed sets. An avid advocate for animals, when Allison isn’t drawing comics or trading card subjects, she turns her skills to illustrating dogs for both professional and personal projects.

Paul D. Storrie has written comics for numerous publishers, including the recently collected Harley Quinn & the Gotham Girls for DC, Star Trek Alien Spotlight: Andorians for IDW, and The Viking Queen at Source Point Press, His most recent work can be found in the Eisner-nominated one-shot John Carpenter Presents Storm Kids: Stanley’s Ghost.

Inkpot Award recipient Billy Tucci is a cartoonist best known for his modern-day samurai saga Shi, which began with The Way of the Warrior in 1994. Through his company, Crusade Fine Arts, Shi has been printed in five languages and sold more than 3 million comic books. In addition to his own creations, the graduate of New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology has earned the prestigious Diamond Comics Gem Award and has been nominated for four Eisner Awards. Billy’s DC Comics graphic novel, Sgt. Rock: The Lost Battalion, was awarded the Military Writers Society of America Gold Medal for its depiction of the highly decorated, real-life 442nd Regimental Combat Team, which was comprised of Japanese-American soldiers. His earnest retelling of the Christmas story in A Child Is Born has quietly turned into an international blockbuster, winning the Christian Small Publisher Book of the Year Award. His critically acclaimed Miss Fury: Joy Division saw the return of the Golden Age Icon for Dynamite Comics. Billy has recently released Shi: Return of the Warrior, Shi: Haikyo, Shi: Omnibus Edition, and Zombie-Sama via Kickstarter and Indiegogo, uniting backers from over fifty countries and bringing Crusade Comics’ previous exclusive crowdfunding campaign totals to over $1,000,000.00.

James Asmus
Rylend Grant

James Asmus is an award-winning writer best known relaunches of Quantum & Woody, Gambit, and Kong of Skull Island. He’s also written original series like Thief of Thieves, Evolution, and The End Times of Bram & Ben for Image Comics, and the recently-launched Field Tripping for Comixology Originals. His most recent work includes Amazing Spider-Man, Spidergeddon, My Little Pony, Transformers: Bumblebee, and Rick & Morty.

Rylend Grant has been a steadily working screenwriter in Hollywood for over a decade, developing film and television projects with folks like JJ Abrams, Ridley Scott, John Woo, Luc Besson, Justin Lin, and F. Gary Gray. His latest effort, a collaboration with actor Matt Dillon and Academy Award-winning director Fernando Trueba, is set to begin production this fall. Rylend’s Ringo Award-nominated political action thriller comic book series, Aberrant, started a 10-issue run with Action Lab Entertainment in June 2018 and was quickly optioned for television by 24 and Felicity producer Tony Krantz via his Flame Ventures banner. Grant’s latest series, a dark superhero noir titled Banjax, is in comic shops now. Rylend also happens to be an ordained Soto Zen Buddhist monk in the lineage of Gudo Nishijima and Brad Warner. He once taught Mike Tyson how to meditate.

Matt Miner

Matt Miner is a New York Times-featured comic book writer, pit bull rescuer, and aging punk living in Queens, NY with his wife and millions of dogs. Matt is well known for his politically charged and punk rock infused work, including GWAR: Orgasmageddon for Dynamite Entertainment, Lab Raider, Toe Tag Riot, Liberator, and Critical Hit for Black Mask Studios, and Poser for Waxwork Comics. Matt also co-edited/spearheaded the political horror anthology This Nightmare Kills Fascists for A Wave Blue World, and the Ringo-nominated anthology All We Ever Wanted: Stories of a Better World that takes a look at a more positive future vision. Paul D. Storrie

Paul D. Storrie has written for numerous publishers, big and small. From Marvel’s Captain America: Red, White and Blue and DC’s Gotham Girls to IDW’ Star Trek: Alien Spotlight and Moonstone’s Sheena, Queen of the Jungle (which he also edited), Paul has proven to be a versatile scribe. Recently, you can read his Viking Queen title from Source Point Press.

Kasey Pierce

Kasey Pierce is an author from the metro Detroit area. Her prose horror novella, Pieces of Madness, gave her residency on the comic convention circuit in 2015. She joined the ranks of Source Point Press shortly thereafter and created the Norah series. This acclaimed movie-optioned sci-fi made her a household name in indie comics — eventually becoming a flagship creator for the company. Since then, Kasey has sold-out at many conventions in the US, Canada, and overseas. She’s presented her panel on selling indie comics, Good Luck with That, at many of those. Her latest published work is the Viking horror series, Seeress (May 2019), and issue #1 of Norah Vol. 2 is scheduled to solicit in PREVIEWSworld January 2020. Emily S. Whitten

“Pop Culture Maven” Emily S. Whitten writes and speaks about everything genre and pop culture. She is a fiction writer; a genre entertainment journalist; a media personality; a program moderator and panelist; and a convention organizer. Her graphic novel series, The Underfoot, debuted from Lion Forge Comics in April of 2019. Her columns, interviews, and webcomics have appeared on ComicMix, Movers & Shakers Unlimited, Reelz.com, MTV.com, and more. She is also known to some as her alter-ego, Ask Deadpool. When Emily is not writing, she’s sharing geeky thoughts via radio shows and podcasts such as Fantastic Forum, The CCC Podcast, and Made of Fail, as well as via TV and video. She is a regular moderator and panelist at several genre conventions. In her copious spare time, Emily enjoys exploring, reading, crafting, cosplay, and looking after her tiny hamster. Oh, and when she’s not doing all that, Emily holds down a regular 9-to-5 job – although that may just be her super-heroine cover identity.

Barrows, Bennett, McKone and Storrie Come to Baltimore!

Baltimore Comic-Con, has announced even more guests, giving you more reasons to get tickets for the show’s premiere inaugural three-day event. Joining their star-studded line-up this year are the extremely talented Eddy Barrows, Marguerite Bennett, Mike McKone, and Paul D. Storrie! They, and all the guests, will be appearing September 5-7, 2014, at the Baltimore Convention Center!

Flying in from Brazil to join us, Eddy Barrows has made a name as one of DC Comics’ premiere artists. Barrows’ lines have graced the pages of such noteworthy titles as Birds of Prey, Action Comics, Superman, Teen Titans, and 52. His art can be found in DC’s Earth 2 this summer, and Earth 2: Future’s End in the fall.

Marguerite Bennett is a relative newcomer to the industry, but has already begun to leave her mark in a big way. At DC Comics, Bennett has written Superman: Lois Lane and Batman: Joker’s Daughter, Batgirl, Batman Annual, the controversial Justice League #23.2: Lobo, a story in IDW’s In the Dark horror anthology, and her new BOOM! Studios series, Butterfly, coming out this fall. Keep your eyes on this one, folks!

Originally from England, Mike McKone has brought his artistic touch to titles like DC Comics’ Justice League of America, Justice League International, and Teen Titans, and Marvel Comics’ Avengers Academy, Exiles, Fantastic Four, and Punisher War Zone. He has recently worked on Marvel’s Ultimate FF and Original Sin.

Paul D. Storrie has written for numerous publishers, big and small. From Marvel’s Captain America: Red, White and Blue and DC’s Gotham Girls to IDW’ Star Trek: Alien Spotlight and Moonstone’s Sheena, Queen of the Jungle (which he also edits), Paul has proven to be a versatile scribe.
