SDCC 2026: Hasbro reveals My Little Pony: Forever Friendship, a new YouTube Animated Series

New era. New voices. Forever Friendship. At San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Hasbro revealed a new My Little Pony animated series, My Little Pony: Forever Friendship. The brand-new YouTube animated series introducing the next generation of pony adventures premieres on YouTube in early 2027.  

A feelings-first fantasy adventure, My Little Pony: Forever Friendship follows Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy as they embark on a new journey of friendship, magic and self-discovery. Building on the legacy of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and featuring beloved characters from that era, this new digital series introduces a fresh creative vision while staying true to the themes that have defined My Little Pony for generations. Through character-driven storytelling and heartfelt adventures, these bi-weekly, 9-minute episode drops on YouTube will explore individuality, belonging and emotional growth as the ponies navigate the everyday magic of friendship together.  

Led by Showrunner and Head Writer Gretchen Mallorie and Series Director Tayhan Mustafa, My Little Pony: Forever Friendship introduces a new visual direction for My Little Pony, defined by luminous color, iridescent magic and expressive design rooted in character and emotion. Developed in collaboration with Lil Critter Workshop and featuring key artistic contributions from acclaimed illustrator Nicholas Kole, the animated series brings a richly imagined vision of Equestria to life, balancing playful charm with emotional depth, while honoring the warmth and heart fans have long associated with the beloved brand. 

Bringing the characters to life is a talented voice cast featuring Jenna Weir as Twilight Sparkle, Ava Preston as Rainbow Dash, Kayla Samson as Fluttershy and Kaya Kanashiro as Pinkie Pie, delivering the warmth, energy and authenticity that defines this next chapter. 

Hasbro has also released a video that goes behind the scenes with the cast of My Little Pony: Forever Friendship as they step into the recording booth. Meet the voices bringing your favorite characters to life in this new series.

At its core, My Little Pony: Forever Friendship is a story about emotional growth, individuality and the everyday magic of connection. Through heartfelt adventures, humor and evolving friendships, the digital series invites a new generation of fans of all ages into a world where kindness and self-discovery take center stage. The series will come to life through bi-weekly 9-minute episode drops on YouTube, clipped and celebrated across social media platforms, ensuring we reach our multi-generational fans wherever they are.  

Building on the news, Hasbro also unveiled a brand-new music track titled “Forever Friendship,” a bright, feel-good anthem that celebrates the series’ themes of connection, self-belief, and individuality. Performed by vocalist Cali Rodi and produced and written by Super Weirdo Productions, the track is a special cover of the show’s theme song, which will be featured in the title sequence and performed by the pony voice cast. The anthem is available to stream now across major digital platforms, including Apple, Spotify and Amazon music.

SDCC 2026: Hasbro and Mattel team for My Little Pony Polly Pocket

My Little Pony Trading Card Game: Friendships Begin Starter Decks

Starting May 1st, friendship, adventure, and pony magic are coming to U.S. game nights! After capturing hearts overseas earlier this year, Kayou’s My Little Pony Trading Card Game: Friendships Begin will finally hit major retailers, including GameStop, Target, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, and various hobby stores. 

Co-developed with Hasbro, the two-player game is inspired by My Little Pojny: Friendship is Magic and blends storytelling with strategic gameplay, making it fun for families new to trading card games while also appealing to avid TCG enthusiasts ages 10 and up. 

Two players choose one of six starter decks featuring the Mane 6 (Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Applejack, and Fluttershy) and go head-to-head, drawing cards and playing clever card combos to move through your pony’s story. The first player to complete their story wins the game.

Like all of Kayou’s collectible trading cards, this TCG is filled with stunning narrative-driven artwork and quality finishes (shimmering foils, embossed textures, and laser etching) that make it as fun to collect as it is to play in competition.

Each starter deck includes a 70-card ready-to-play deck used to create a Main Deck, Scene Deck and Story Deck, and three booster packs with five cards in each pack. Players can collect 68 card types across nine rarity levels, including Shining Ruby Rare (RR) Cards that feature the Mane 6 and their elements of harmony illustrated with vibrant colored pencils and lush oil painting textures; and Shining Emerald Rare (ER) Cards that showcase iconic Equestrian landmarks themed for each of the Mane 6 with exclusive day/night variations.

Fans can collect all six starter decks and mix and match to create their own custom playing decks.

The starter decks just landed at GameStop for $19.99 each, but you can also look out for them at Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, Target and local hobby stores.

Hellraisers is due in December, Jem in August, Expanse in November, and another recent had shipping issues based on comments. But, BOOM! is owned by a pretty big corporation which keeps the overall risk low. You’ll get the project eventually.

BOOM! Studios Gets the Publishing Rights to My Little Pony

BOOM! Studios has announced that it has licensed from Hasbro the publishing rights to the longtime fan-favorite IP that taught us all the friendship is magic, My Little Pony.

Teased at New York Comic-Con 2025, fans can look forward to all-new stories in the My Little Pony universe coming from BOOM! Studios in late 2026, along with a BOOM! Direct Reserve Campaign collecting the previous runs of My Little Pony comics launching on Kickstarter early 2026.

BOOM! announced they received the license for Jem and the Holograms in October, around New York Comic Con. Both were previously at IDW Publishing which also had the rights to G.I. JOE, M.A.S.K., and Transformers, all three are now at Skybound.
