Mantic Games has announced that they’ll be creating a miniature game based on The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: All Out War.
In a new video Mantic’s Ronnie Renton discusses some of the philosophy as to why they want to do a miniature game based on the popular comic book series and promises more to come!
The announcement was teased earlier this week, but Mantic Games has announced they’ll be bringing the entertainment juggernaut that is The Walking Dead to tabletops in the form of a miniature game. The company announced on their blog yesterday that they have obtained the license.
The license gives the company the ability to mine the comic book series for material for the game, the television series would be different.

The Walking Dead: All Out War will be set in the engaging and immersive post-apocalyptic world of The Walking Dead comic series. Having the comic license gives us far more freedom to reproduce from all the rich and evocative artwork, and over 149 issues of the comics. This offered the biggest choice of factions and characters – in fact the widest scope possible to explore the setting and heroes. Finally the comic license also gives us direct access to the Skybound team, and insight into the world by the people who actually created it! We will bring the pages to life with fantastic models that will cry out to be painted, slick game play and it’ll all be part of an awesomely fun gaming experience.
Mantic’s goal was to find a property that people were passionate about and you didn’t need a ton of models to get folks interested in the painting/modeling aspect too. That led the company to The Walking Dead.
What stands out to me is the choice of title for the game. All Out War refers to a specific storyline that featured Rick’s group pitted against various other factions, more the living fighting the living than any versus the undead.
Some rumors of gameplay have leaked out on forums including the concept would have zombies being more of a random factor than what one side is playing, as well as ammo being limited, both sound very interesting.
The Walking Dead: All Out War will be coming to tabletops some time in 2016.
Gaming website Bell of Lost Souls received two images in their inbox today, one of some zombie art and another of two miniatures that are similar to the art. The mystery email challenged the site to figure out what the images were to.
The top image comes straight from The Walking Dead. The second picture has the name twd.02.jpg.
Are we getting a miniature game based on Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead? There’s a Doctor Who miniature game in the works, and currently one based on Batman and Spider-Man by Knight Models. Could the hit comic and television series be coming to the miniature tabletop.

Knight Models continues to crank out some impressive figure for their Batman the Miniature Game. They recently announced an expansion of their game line based on Batman the Animated Series, and the first two figures have been released.
New to the game are a Batman and Catwoman based on Batman the Animated Series. Also released for the game is Katana, Black Manta, a Militia Gattling Brute (for the Scarecrow’s gang), and The Riddler’s Mech (yes a bit odd unless someone can point me where this happened).

I love my comics and I love my games, and Knight Models have given us the opportunity to mix the two with their Batman the Miniature Game.
The game which uses miniatures that are 30-40mm in scale allows you to play as Batman, his allies, and some of his greatest villains too.

Knight Models is the company behind the Batman Miniature Game. In it you control 4-10 minis such as Batman, Joker, Bane, or simple thugs, and duke it out over territory and each other. In a very cool twist, you can get various incarnations of Batman, Joker, and others from throughout the character’s history.
Today, the company revealed a Batmobile based on Batman: Arkham Knight under their new Knight Models Legends brand.
The miniature will be out in 2016, and I’m working on further coverage of what looks like an awesome miniatures game.
