Tiny Onion reveals an Exclusive Spot Gold Foil Variant of Everything Dead & Dying #1 for Local Comic Shop Day this September

Tiny Onion has revealed an exclusive spot gold variant edition of the highly anticipated Everything Dead & Dying #1 that will hit shelves on Local Comic Shop Day on September 27. The special variant features co-creator Jacob Phillips’ Cover A artwork, framed by gorgeous gold foil lettering, popping against a green background. Everything Dead & Dying LCSD Cover F (Lunar Code 0725IM874) will be available exclusively at participating local comic shops during the ComicsPRO annual community event.

Everything Dead & Dying is a haunting new zombie series by Eisner Award-nominated creators writer Tate Brombal and artist Jacob Phillips, coming from Tiny Onion and published by Image Comics. The five-issue comic book series will explore a different kind of undead story, where love transcends a heartbeat, and a man fights for what’s left of his family. Fans of The Walking Dead, Essex County, and The Last of Us will love this original western horror series, launching on September 3.

Patton Oswalt and Jordan Blum named Local Comic Shop Day Ambassadors

ComicsPRO has announced that Patton Oswalt and Jordan Blum have been tapped as the first ever Ambassadors for Local Comic Shop Day and will help promote this year’s event. Local Comic Shop Day takes place on September 27, 2025 and the two will be the voice of a campaign to help build awareness and generate enthusiasm for the day that helps celebrate local comic shops and their communities.

This year’s Local Comic Shop Day has been revamped with increased retailer support. Local Comic Shop Day 2025 focuses on comic shops as community hubs and will feature new branding, new activities, and new ways to celebrate why we shop local when we shop nerdy.

ComicsPRO is adding the following features to Local Comic Shop Day:

  • A LCSD Official Ambassador, Blum and Oswalt
  • Discord channels for retailers and publishers to streamline the planning process
  • A marketing and events guide to help retailers easily take part in the event
  • And a catalog that will centralize the offerings for retailers as they plan their experience.

ComicsPRO revamps Local Comic Shop Day for 2025

While many know Free Comic Book Day, there’s a second day to celebrate comics and your local shop, Local Comic Shop Day. The celebration in the past used to mainly feature variants to get folks in to buy and support their shop, but ComicsPRO, the organization that manages it, is changing things up for 2025 with a revamp.

Local Comic Shop Day 2025 focuses on comic shops as community hubs and will feature new branding, new activities, and new ways to celebrate why we shop local when we shop nerdy. The event, which will take place at comic shops internationally, on Saturday, September 27, will shift from its traditional variant-driven sales day to an entire campaign of events that will truly highlight what makes comic shops special.

In addition to the reimagined celebration, ComicsPRO also unveiled a new logo for Local Comic Shop Day. The logo, designed by Tim Daniel, writer and designer known for his work at Vault Comics and independent titles industry-wide spanning the last 20 years, reflects the idea of comic shops as a part of a neighborhood, while also invoking the small business feel.

ComicsPRO is adding the following features to Local Comic Shop Day:

  • A LCSD Official Ambassador
  • Discord channels for retailers and publishers to streamline the planning process
  • A marketing and events guide to help retailers easily take part in the event
  • And a catalog that will centralize the offerings for retailers as they plan their experience.

Skybound reveals Universal Monsters: Dracula exclusives for Local Comic Shop Day

Skybound has revealed their two exclusive new limited edition covers debuting as part of Local Comic Shop Day, a celebration of comic book shops on Wednesday, November 22. Available exclusively in comic book shops, these new variants to Universal Monsters: Dracula #1 and #2 will only be available while supplies last and won’t be reprinted again. 

One of the most-anticipated new launches of the season, Universal Monsters: Dracula, is debuting two new connected covers by all-star artist Jason Shawn Alexander for Local Comic Shop DayThe covers depict Dracula biting an unsuspecting victim—with Dracula on the cover of issue #1 and the victim on issue #2.  

Skybound, in partnership with Universal Products & Experiences, will present Universal Monsters: Dracula #1, the debut issue of the extra-length four-part comic book limited series, in comic book shops next week. Image reveals an Eight Billion Genies #1 Sketch Cover Variant and Instagram Contest for Local Comic Shop Day 20222

Local Comic Shop Day is teaming up with Image Comics this year to bring fans a special sketch cover variant of Charles Soule and Ryan Browne’s Eight Billion Genies #1 and will co-host an exciting Instagram contest to get readers’ creative juices flowing.

This special Local Comic Shop Day exclusive variant will feature a cardstock cover showcasing a blank genie silhouette for fans to personalize with their own sketch. Image Comics will also be running an exciting Instagram contest for fans to join the fun online too (follow @imagecomics and stay tuned for details).

Fans will have an opportunity to submit their own genie illustrations for a chance to be one of five lucky entrants to win a signed and remarqued copy of the Eight Billion Genies deluxe hardcover for themselves and a local comic shop of their choosing. Marvel celebrates Local Comic Shop Day with two variant covers featuring Peter Parker and Miles Morales

Local Comic Shop Day returns for its eighth year on November 23! The annual event organized by ComicsPRO, comics industry’s trade organization, celebrates the independent spirit of local comic book shops and encourages customers to visit their local shops during the holiday season! Marvel will participate once again, this time with two Local Comic Shop Day Variant Covers! In honor of the 60th anniversary of Spider-Man, they’ll grace the covers of November’s issues of both of Spider-Man’s current ongoing series: Zeb Wells and John Romita Jr.’s Amazing Spider-Man and Dan Slott and Mark Bagley’s Spider-Man. Drawn by acclaimed artist Francesco Mobili, these dramatic pinups showcase everyone’s favorite webslingers—Peter Parker and Miles Morales!

Image Comics has announced three exciting Local Comic Shop Day editions to join the lineup of releases for next month’s celebration of the Direct Market comic shops: The Walking Dead Deluxe #27, Friday #1, and Grrl Scouts: Stone Ghost #1. These three special LCSD editions will not be reprinted—so don’t miss out and be sure to support your local comic shop on Wednesday, November 24 (and every day!)—and visit the Local Comic Shop Day website for more information about the event.

Robert Kirkman, Charlie Adlard, and Dave McCaig’s The Walking Dead Deluxe #27 Local Comic Shop Day edition (Diamond Code AUG219266) will feature a foil treatment on the cover logo.
