MegaKat City Has Fallen in the First-Ever Swat Kats Comic

It’s been over three decades since Swat Kats first launched missiles (and hearts) across television screens worldwide. Now, the cult-favorite cartoon is back—and it’s getting its very first comic book series. On the project, co-writer Frank J. Barbiere teams up with Kevin Roditeli, the founder of Roditeli Productions and former co-founder of Massive Publishing. And fresh off his Golden Issue Award-winning run on Transformers, the series also marks the return of acclaimed artist Jorge Corona.

Joining the team is veteran editor Joseph P. Illidge, whose work at DC Comics on Batman and Milestone helped shape modern superhero storytelling. The upcoming comic will debut on Kickstarter this fall with exclusive content and surprises for fans old and new.

Created by Christian and Yvon TremblaySwat Kats originally aired in 1993, produced by the legendary Hanna-Barbera. The show has been broadcast in over 76 countries and remains one of the most iconic cartoons of the ’90s, thanks to its slick jet-fueled action, gritty art style, and cult fan following.

Titled MegaKat City Has Fallen, the story picks up with the city in ruins and the Radical Squadron facing their greatest threat yet. It’s the launch point for a bold new era of Swat Kats, with more stories planned across multiple mediums.

More contributors and variant covers will be revealed leading up to the Kickstarter launch, which is expected to feature exclusive editions, collectibles, and fan-first bonuses.

This fall, MegaKat City returns—louder, sharper, and more radical than ever. To learn more, check out the Kickstarter for Swat Kats, launching on Kickstarter in Fall 2025.

Massive Publishing Co-Founder and President Kevin Roditeli Departs

Kevin Roditeli

After three years as President and Co-Publisher of Massive Publishing, which he co-founded with Michael Calero and Trevor Richardson, Kevin Roditeli is stepping away to focus on his creative pursuits. The move comes at a time the publisher is shifting its focus, becoming a sub-distributor with its Massive Indies initiative, as well as its other programs like its high end Massive Select line.

In the past year, Roditeli authored two standout series as a creator, including Bad Omens: Concrete Jungle, created with the Billboard-charting band for Sumerian Comics. He also released his creator-owned series, Washed In The Blood, a post-apocalyptic tale about a teenager who becomes the messiah of a frozen wasteland after hearing the voice of the goddess of guns.

Kevin Roditeli is now fully dedicated to freelance writing, pursuing licensed projects that align with his unique voice, while developing his own original comic series with potential publishers. Beyond comics, he has secured initial funding for his debut film, which he will write and direct. Roditeli and the Massive team remain on good terms and look forward to future collaborations, including the release of one of his creator-owned series and his involvement in an upcoming licensed project from Massive.
