Witchblade passes the Gauntlet around with Team-Up Variants this September

Image Comics and Top Cow have revealed a line-wide Witchblade Team-Up variant covers in celebration of the milestone Witchblade (2024) #25 issue’s premiere this September. Some of the biggest names in comics will put their artistic spin on Witchblade as its iconic characters make an appearance across the covers of some of Image’s most popular ongoing series.

Witchblade is a comic book series published by Top Cow Productions, which ran from November 1995 to October 2015 and December 2017 to January 2020. The series was created by Marc Silvestri, David Wohl, Brian Haberlin, and Michael Turner. The comic series was made into a TNT television series in 2001 and was directed by Ralph Hemecher and starred Yancy Butler as Sara Pezzini. Later, Top Cow and Japanese animation studio Gonzo produced an anime adaptation of Witchblade, which debuted in 2006.

Marguerite Bennett and Guiseppe Cafaro’s current run on Witchblade (2024) features a reimagined origin, with contemporary takes on familiar characters, as well as fresh story arcs to hook new fans and rekindle the energy and excitement that fueled the ’90s Image Revolution. New York City Police Detective Sara Pezzini’s life is forever fractured by her father’s murder. Cold, cunning, and hellbent on revenge, Sara now stalks a vicious criminal cabal beneath the city, where an ancient power collides and transforms her into something wild, magnificent, and beyond her darkest imaginings. How will Sara use this ancient power? …Or will she be consumed by it?

Bestselling, fan-favorite cartoonist Wes Craig invites a star-studded cast of guest artists to join him for the extra-length, upcoming Colossal Kaya Special. This exciting jumping-on point for the ongoing series—Kaya—will hit shelves this November from Image Comics.

Colossal Kaya Special will be jam-packed with the artwork of Nathan Fox, James Harren, Mike Huddleston, Declan Shalvey, Ryan Stegman, alongside Craig. It will showcase 48 eye-popping pages of breakneck storytelling, bold visuals, and jaw-dropping extras—including a wrap around cover and classic centerfold by Jim Mahfood.

There are no plans for this shelf-busting single issue to be collected into trade paperback.

Presented annually at DragonCon, the nominations for the 2023 Dragon Awards have been revealed. The awards cover video games, movies, books, comics, and more.

This year, the “Best Comic Book” and “Best Graphic Novel” categories have been combined into one, “Best Comic Book or Graphic Novel.”

Image Comics has revealed ten more exciting team-up variants as part of a line of covers celebrating Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead hitting its milestone 20 year anniversary. These variant covers will add walker-fever to shelves throughout October and feature artists’ interpretations of the iconic horror series’ characters.

Multiple Spawn Team-Up Variants Sell Out and Head Back to Print

This month’s Spawn team-up variants campaign struck the industry with a bolt of energy and Image will be rushing twelve of the covers back to print this week—with a slight color variation for added collectability—in order to keep up with customer demand. 

Fifty of Image’s most popular books, in addition to many of DC’s as part of the Batman/Spawn crossover, saw an appearance of Spawn on covers this month.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Image Comics—and of Todd McFarlane’s iconic, history-making, record-breaking Spawn—and December’s Spawn team-up covers give fans the perfect way to celebrate the beloved character’s lasting impact and influence on the medium.
