The Scourge assembles its Army of Corrupted Droids in Josemaria Casanova’s connecting Dark Droids Variant Covers

Across Star Wars storytelling, droids have served a variety of roles ranging from loyal sidekicks to deadly enemies, but after this summer, fans will never look at them the same way again! Starting in July, Star Wars: Dark Droids is an all-new Marvel crossover event that kicks off when a new threat is unleashed throughout the galaxy, corrupting droids, cyborgs, and everything in-between! The saga will bring horror to the galaxy far, far away as droids of all allegiances and roles unite for a bold new purpose, causing chaos for the Rebellion and the Empire alike!

The highly-anticipated epic will be told across a main event series, Star Wars: Dark Droids, as well as tie-in issues of four ongoing series that are currently bridging the gap between the films The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi: Star Wars, Star Wars: Darth Vader, Star Wars: Doctor Aphra, and Star Wars: Bounty Hunters. The event will also include a spinoff series, Star Wars: Dark Droids – D-Squad. Written by Marc Guggenheim with art by Salva Espín and David Messina, the four-issue limited series will see R2-D2 reunite with his team of droid heroes to combat the menace that’s dominating their kind. 

Fans can see just how chilling things will become in Josemaria Casanovas’ new connecting cover. The six-part piece will adorn all six Star Wars: Dark Droids installments in August and spotlights a breathtaking lineup of iconic droids, all with glowing violet eyes and lenses, indicating that they’ve been tragically compromised by the malevolent entity known as the Scourge!

An all-new Spider-Killer curses the Spider-Verse in Josemaria Casanova’s Edge of Spider-Verse #1 variant cover

On May 3, the hit comic book series Edge of Spider-Verse returns for another wild trip through the Spider-Verse, complete with revolutionary new Spider-heroes and further adventures for the series’ biggest breakout stars, all brought to you from an all-star lineup of talent!

In issue one, readers will take a dark turn down in the seediest part of town to meet Spider-Killer! Protecting a world filled with tragic versions of your favorite Spider-Man characters and villains, Spider-Killer will debut in a moody tale written by Zander Cannon and drawn by Guillermo Sanna. Lurking in the shadows and oozing with mystery, this strange Spider hero brings a new level of fear to the Spider-Verse. If they dare, fans can gaze into the eyes of SPIDER-KILLER on a newly revealed variant cover for Edge of Spider-Verse #1 by artist Josemaria Casanovas. Casanovas’ connecting cover will adorn all four issues of the series and spotlight a variety of new Edge of Spider-Verse characters.

Edge of Spider-Verse #1 will also feature the roaring return of Spider-Rex and the daring debut of Venomsaurus in a story by writer Karla Pacheco and Pere Pérez. This past week, the Spider-Verse as we know it was transformed! Edge of Spider-Verse #1 marked the beginning of a new era of Spider-Verse storytelling with a new status quo for Araña, the roaring debut of Spider-Rex, and more! And things are only just getting started as each issue of this new limited series will contain more thrilling additions to the Spider-Verse mythos in the form of new heroes, fresh journeys for iconic favorites, and the rise of a dark threat that could end the Spider-Verse for good. The series will serve as the foundation for Dan Slott’s next Spidey epic, beginning in October’s Spider-Man #1.

Here’s what fans can expect from the third issue in this exciting saga, Edge of Spider-Verse #3, on sale September 14:
