Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Nation Vol. 1

Story: Tom Waltz, Erik Burnham, Paul Allor, Caleb Goellner
Art: Vincenzo Federici, Mateus Santolouco, Jose Jaro, Ilias Kyriazis, Auguste Kanakis

Follow Raphael on a lone adventure that picks up after issue #150! Plus, stories featuring Mutant Island, Casey Jones, Pepperoni, and the Punk Frogs!

In the prelude story “Monster Island,” Old Hob has established a settlement on Mutant Island, but Colonel Wesley Knight is still suspicious and has been monitoring him. Wanting a closer look, Knight finds the bodies of several mutants strung up in spiderwebs on the island!

After the events of “The Armageddon Game,” the Turtles have found themselves at a crossroads, attempting to keep their family united while individually feeling the need to break away and explore life in a world that knows about mutants. To clear his head, Raphael jumps on his motorcycle and heads west on a solo road trip with the wind at his back and no destination in mind…until a dormant enemy out for revenge on the Turtles engineers a dangerous detour to Area 51. When Raphael is held hostage with some unexpected old friends, his soul-searching quest mutates into a crisis as he brawls in the desert to keep the E.P.F.’s cache of coveted technology out of the wrong hands. Will Raphael find his new purpose away from his brothers…or just more trouble than he can handle alone in “Ambush at Area 51!” by writer Tom Waltz and artist Vincenzo Federici?

Then, in “Casey Jones, Agent of the Foot Clan” by writer Erik Burnham and artist Mateus Santolouco, after the events of The Untold Destiny of the Foot Clan, can Casey tolerate Karai’s descent into ruthlessness, or will he turn his back on the Foot? Also included are two short stories, “Pepperoni on the Side” by writer Paul Allor and artist Jose Jaro, and “Frogs vs. Punks” by writer Caleb Goellner and artists Ilias Kyriazis and Auguste Kanakis.

Volume 1 collects “Monster Island” from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Alpha and Mutant Nation issues #1–5.

Brandon Easton Joins Lion Forge’s Incidentals

Incidentals, created by writer/producer Ramón Govea and co-developed by Lion Forge co-founders David Steward II and Carl Reed, has been a cornerstone title in comics’ most diverse and inclusive universe since 2017.

Now, as the series moves into its third volume, Brandon Easton will co-write the title’s most ambitious storyline, in a first-person look at the culture of celebrity and superheroes. Two Hollywood veterans will tackle issues that have long terrorized Tinseltown behind the scenes, pitting heroes against their greatest fears in an arresting fictional account of the uglier side of filmdom.

The Incidentals are making their mark in Hollywood! Marko is managing the group as the initial offering from Luminous Talent Agency—Bo Vincent Chen’s latest entrepreneurial effort to recruit superhero talent. But rather than enjoy their new celebrity status, the Incidentals still struggle with their lack of communication, which threatens to unravel the team. Meanwhile, a mysterious new power player enters the fold with an eye to recruit our heroes . . . but can the Incidentals really trust him, or is something more sinister in motion? While the City of Angels may be caked in a layer of glitz and glam, the team finds themselves faced with what lurks just beneath the town’s shiny exterior.

The ninth issue of Incidentals debuted in stores last week and will return in an all-new series and volume on July 25, alongside the second collection of the previous series. Incidentals #10 pairs the new writing team with artist Jose Jaro and features covers by Ryan Brown.

Upper Deck releases Marvel Premier on Halloween!

Upper Deck is raising the bar in terms of what collectors can expect from a pack of Marvel trading cards. Today Upper Deck releases the most premium comic trading card release of all-time with Marvel Premier. These exclusive packs are only for the most serious comic fans as each pack has a suggested retail price of $200.

Each pack of Marvel Premier contains five total cards, each one of them packing a punch! First fans will receive two premium base cards on a super-thick card stock from the 50-card base set numbered to only 99 copies. Next, they will receive a one-of-one sketch card from a top Marvel artist. The fourth card is an industry first where collectors will find either a dual, triple or quadruple multi-panel hinged sketch card.

The fifth card will be either a “Classic Corners” card, a Shadowbox card or an “Emotion” booklet card by Jason Adams and NAR! The “Classic Corners” cards pay homage to many of the famous Marvel Comics cover corners with a manufactured patch card. The Shadowbox cards use a patent pending layered technology on a super-thick card to create a three dimensional appearance of famous Marvel battles. And, the “Emotion” booklet cards have never been seen before in the entertainment industry. The cover will feature original art from Jason Adams, and once opened, the collector will find an emotion written on one side, and a corresponding Marvel character drawn by NAR! on the other. For example the “Anger” card features The Incredible Hulk.

Upper Deck’s 2012 Marvel Premier really is about the artists and the company has employed some of the best in the industry including Cruddie Torrain, Mike Mayhew, Lak Lim, Jose Jaro, Adriana Melo, Babisu Kourtis and NAR! With never before seen artwork from these great artists, passionate Marvel fans are in store for a real treat when they see the new imagery of their favorite Marvel characters.

Check out some of the cards below as well as a check list of the release!
