Spider-Man: Meals to Astonish #1

Chef José Andrés joins the Marvel Universe with Spider-Man: Meals to Astonish

Next month, experience a heroic adventure that’s sure to satisfy your every craving in Spider-Man: Meals to Astonish #1! The first-of-its-kind one-shot will deliver a story by writer Steve Orlando and artist Roi Mercado that sees Spider-Man team up with a real-world hero—Michelin-starred and James Beard Award-winning chef, restaurateur, and humanitarian, José Andrés, alongside his fearless team at World Central Kitchen! Spider-Man: Meals to Astonish #1 will be the first in a series of one-shots this year celebrating José’s life-changing and impactful work to provide food and nourishment to communities in crisis around the world.

Comics crossing over with the world of food and chefs has been a popular thing lately. Marvel launched Meals to Astonish in August 2025 (which had the same cover as Spider-Man: Meals to Astonish) as a spin off of the T.E.S.T. Kitchen Infinity Comic which itself had releases going back to 2022. DC Comics launched their own Taste of Justice in 2024 and José Andrés was even a part of it in 2025.

In Spider-Man: Meals to Astonish, Peter Parker heads downtown to photograph the opening of world-class chef José Andrés’ brand-new restaurant at New York’s famous Mercado Little Spain but soon finds it crashed by an insatiable villain: Electro! The electric fiend came prepared for Spider-Man, so José must chip in with Spidey to save the day—and everyone’s dinner!

In addition to the main story featuring Andrés, fans will be able to experience the T.E.S.T. Kitchen Infinity Comic for the first time in print! The story follows Chef Anna Ameyama whose dream of running her own food truck has finally come true—until it’s crushed into collateral damage during an Iron Man fight! But when Tony Stark tastes the deliciousness he just devastated, he offers her a new job: as his personal chef! The best part? Anna’s recipes (created by Michelin-starred chef Paul Eschbach!) are included so you’ll see how surprisingly easy it is to eat like an Avenger right in your own home!

Following that, readers will witness the return of the most delicious hero in the Spider-Verse in a new SPIDER-RAMEN adventure by Ken Niimura that will leave your mouth watering for more!

And finally, True Believers can take a seat at Jeff’s Table, a new Jeff the Land Shark series by Gustavo Duarte! Jeff has captured the hearts of fans…now he’s going to win over your stomachs! Discover a Land Shark’s appetite as Marvel’s most adorable super hero makes a mess in the kitchen!

José Andrés whips a tasty treat with Andrew Aydin for DC’s Taste of Justice

José Andrés comes to DC Comics… as a writer! Andrés is teaming with Andrew Aydin for a new entry for Taste of Justice, a series about superheroes and cooking. Aydin and Andrés connected through writer Steve Orlando who had previously collaborated with Andrés on Feeding Dangerously, a graphic novel about the work of World Central Kitchen.

Taste of Justice was announced in 2024 and combines DC’s character with cooking. Recipes are shared while the heroes prepare the dishes themselves with a step-by-step guide taking readers through the baking experience.

Being a superhero is a hungry job, but someone’s gotta do it! Enjoy this special Holiday Taste of things to come with the preview episode of Taste of Justice, where The Flash learns there’s more to speed when baking holiday cookies!

The upcoming entry in the series features Aquaman cooking up… something that “doesn’t require any cooking.” Could it be sushi? Does Aquaman eat sushi?

Times are tough, and comic creator (and Hellboy creator) Mike Mignola is stepping up to help raise some money. Mignola is auctioning off sketches on eBay to help benefit Chef José AndrésWorld Central Kitchen. 100% of the proceeds are going to the effort.
