ComicsPro 2024: Mad Cave announces an entire publishing line for Gatchaman!

It’s Mad Cave Studios‘ 10-year anniversary, and what better way to celebrate than to announce their 2024 Gatchaman publishing program at ComicsPro!

The Gatchaman license, originally acquired in 2023 from Tatsunoko Productions, will feature an exciting new rollout of content featuring an ongoing series with a subsequent Vol. 1 trade release, individual character one-shots, and a Galactor miniseries! These new Gatchaman titles will expand upon the original Science Ninja Team Gatchaman continuity, with each project honing its own unique focus while contributing to the overall publishing line.

GATCHAMAN ONGOING SERIES

A mechanical terror has descended upon numerous cities and the world’s greatest scientists are disappearing. Our only hope: Science Ninja Team Gatchaman! As they battle these machinations from the international terrorist organization known as Galactor, their strength, willpower, and even vehicles are pushed to the absolute limit. If they fail…who’s waiting in the wings to take their place?

This all-new series begins with Gatchaman #0, available as a free promotional item at participating retailers worldwide on Free Comic Book Day 2024 (Saturday, May 4) and featuring cover artist Chris Samnee.

The ongoing story continues in Gatchaman #1 in June, with Cover A by Inaki Miranda, Cover B by Sanford Greene (which connects with the B covers for issues #2-5 to form a panoramic image), Cover C by Chris Batista, the Cover D Blank Sketch Cover edition, and Cover E retailer incentive by Francine Delgado. Trade paperback available in December, collecting the complete storyline from issues #0-5.

Debuts with Gatchaman—Ken: Deathmatch, focusing on Ken the Eagle. 

Ken goes undercover to infiltrate an underground gambling ring where martial artists from around the globe fight to the death. There, the winners are captured and brought to a secret Galactor recruiting base. If they refuse to join, the captives are dropped in the jungle and hunted as prey for Galactor’s training program. Can anyone make it out alive?

The second one-shot will be Gatchaman—Jun, focusing on Jun the Swan, which will be released in November.

On March 20, 2024, Dawnrunner #1 arrives wherever comics are sold. This comic series features the mankind entrenched in an ongoing struggle against an invasion of giant monsters called Tetza. Human civilization has combined their resources and efforts to construct the Iron Kings —imposing mechs built to fight their enemy toe-to-toe in epic gladiatorial combat.

NYCC 2023: Mad Cave Studios Unveils its Exciting Schedule of Events and Exclusives

Fans of comics, pop culture, and entertainment are in for a treat. Mad Cave Studios is heading to the highly-anticipated New York Comic Con (Oct. 12 – 16) at the Javits Center in New York City at booth #3441!

With a jam-packed schedule of panels, signings, exclusives and more, there’s a little something for everyone to enjoy including imprints, Papercutz and Maverick. Mad Cave Studios and Tatsunoko Production Partner To Publish Gatchaman Comics

Mad Cave Studios and Tatsunoko Production have officially partnered to publish Gatchaman comics for adult and teen readers. 

Science Ninja Team Gatchaman (科学忍者隊ガッチャマン) is a Japanese animated franchise about a five-member superhero ninja team created and produced by Tatsunoko Production, with the original anime series debuting back in 1972. The series centers around five young superhero ninjas employed by Kōzaburō Nambu of the fictitious International Science Organization to oppose Galactor, an international terrorist organization of technologically advanced villains who are trying to control Earth’s natural resources, such as water, oil, sugar, and uranium. Recurring themes of Gatchaman involve conservation, environmentalism, and the responsible use of technology for progress.

Under the agreement, Mad Cave Studios will be publishing new Gatchaman stories that take place in the world of the original series setting, staying true to the timeless classic.

The first Gatchaman release is slated for 2024.

In the 1500s, before humanity had successfully traveled the entire globe, it was believed that monsters ruled the oceans just beyond the horizon. “Here there be dragons…” was written on maps to denote the areas people dared not go.That is, until Sir Francis Drake circumnavigated the seas, visiting foreign lands and collecting treasure. That’s what history tells us, at least, but history does not have the full tale. Monsters did lurk yonder, living on an island that still doesn’t appear on any map, and among them was the king of them all-Godzilla!
