Hardcore Gets Reloaded from Brandon Thomas, Francis Portela, and Leonardo Paciarotti this December

Image and Skybound Entertainment has announced a new action-packed, five-issue miniseries Hardcore: Reloaded—by writer Brandon Thomas, artist Francis Portela, and Leonardo Paciarotti—launching this December. It will showcase cover artwork by Nic Klein. The comic features lettering by Thomas Mauer and edited by Jon Moisan.

Hardcore returns with more bullets than John Wick! Agent Drake once used the Hardcore tech to take control of human drones to protect our nation… but now, that tech is out in the wild. And the only one who can help him put the genie back in the bottle is his greatest enemy.

The original run of Hardcore—upon which this new miniseries builds—was the brainchild of comics legends Robert Kirkman and Marc Silvestri.

Hardcore: Reloaded #1 (Diamond Code OCT190046) will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, December 18 with final order cuttoff on November 4.

Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!

Captain America #6

Wednesdays are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in!

Each week our contributors choose what they can’t wait to read this week or just sounds interesting. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look at!

Find out what folks think below, and what comics you should be looking out for this Wednesday.

American Carnage #2 (DC Comics/Vertigo) – The first issue was a solid set up of a former FBI agent who has to go undercover in a white supremacist organization. We’re intrigued and excited by this series and can’t wait to read more.

Black Badge #5 (BOOM! Studios) – One of the best new series this year! Basically, Boy Scouts who are recruited into doing black ops.

Captain America #6 (Marvel) – The first story arc wraps up and its hinted at something big happening. We’ve loved this series and can’t wait to see what’s next.

Dead Man Logan #2 (Marvel) – The first issue was fantastic and though this seems like on surface another “lets kill a hero and make some money” event, so far, it’s exceeded expectations.

Extermination #5/Infinity Wars #6/Spider-Geddon #5 (Marvel) – These three are on the list for the same reason… We want to know how they end!

Freedom Fighters #1 (DC Comics) – Head to Earth X for superheroes punching Nazis!

Hardcore #1 (Image Comics) – From Image and Skybound this new series written by Andy Diggle with art by Alessandro Vitti is about a program where anyone’s body can be taken over making them into human drones to target the bad guys. Interesting concept. We’re in.

Livewire #1 (Valiant) – The character takes the spotlight and we’ve already had lots of praise of this issue.

Andy Diggle and Alessandro Vitti Get Hardcore this December from Image and Skybound

Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics have announced Hardcore, a new comic book series by writer Andy Diggle and artist Alessandro Vitti, coming out December 12, 2018. The series will feature cover art by award-winning artist Dan Panosian.

Imagine being able to take over the body of anyone on Earth in order to track down a rogue nuke or assassinate a dictator. Sound crazy? Not for Agent Drake and the Hardcore Program. They can turn anyone—your neighbor, your co-worker, your spouse—into a human drone to get to targets that normal soldiers can’t.

Drake is the best soldier Hardcore has to offer. But when the Program itself gets hijacked, he finds himself stranded in a body—with only 72 hours to neutralize the threat. But who can he trust when his enemy can change their appearance as easily as the rest of us changes a shirt?

Story by: Robert Kirkman Art By: Brian Stelfreeze Cover By: Marc Silvestri
Price: $2.99

From the creative minds of Image partners Robert Kirkman & Marc Silvestri! Once the hard core is shot into the back of your neck, an assassin’s brain waves can be transmitted into your body–circumventing your brain functions–taking complete control of your body. When assassins use this technology–your killer can be anyone; your barber, your neighbor or your wife. They are the best assassins in the world–but what happens when one of their own turns against them? Who can you trust when your enemy can change his appearance as easy as someone changes a shirt?

Pick of the Week – Coldest City

This week brings a plethora of choices for solid comic books and graphic novels to read.  It was a very hard choice, and very thought out, but I kept coming back to Coldest City published by Oni Press.  The story by Antony Johnston with art by Sam Hart is a rather complex Cold War spy tale.  The story follows British spies in West Berlin as they uncover a murder mystery and an item of importance to nation security.  The story is solid and once I sat down to read it, I had to keep going to see how it ended.  If you like spy/noir reads, this should be at the top of your list this week.

  • Coldest City – see above
  • Dancer #1 – Another spyish comic that’s more Bourne than Bond.  The series has a man on the run from people trying to kill him, with an interesting twist at the end.
  • Hardcore #1 – It’s taken a bit to be released but Robert Kirkman and Marc Silvestri’s comic is finally being released.  The story is interesting, the art is cool.  My guess is, with Kirkman’s hot streak when it comes to television, don’t be surprised if you see this one on the big screen.
  • Saucer Country #3 – Politics?  Yes.  Aliens? Yes.  This is The West Wing (the campaign season), meets the X-Files.
  • Thief of Thieves #4 – Another Kirkman book, this series has blown me away with every issue so far.
