Dead Rabbit at Large this October

Image Comics has revealed a teaser trailer and preview pages for the forthcoming new series from Gerry Duggan and John McCreaDead Rabbit—launching this October.

Back in the ’90s, Dead Rabbit was a prolific Boston stick-up man and hoodlum, until he took down one last big score and disappeared. Nobody ever discovered the truth: he retired to be with the love of his life. Now he’s back in the mask to save her, but no one—not his wife, the mafia, or the cops—is happy that he’s out of retirement.

Fans of Kill or Be Killed and The Departed will love this new action-comedy-drama tale and its main character Martin Dobbs, aka: Dead Rabbit—the man who says he’s descended from one of the original gangs of New York City.

Dead Rabbit #1 will hit stores on Wednesday, October 5th. The final order cutoff deadline from retailers is Monday, September 10th.

Review: Infinity Wars #1

As the Infinity Stones come to Earth, so too comes the war for control over them. But none who wield the stones know the truth about the power they contain…or what it would take to bring them to their END. The nature of the universe itself hangs in the balance and a shocking event is learned.

I haven’t been too keen on Marvel‘s Infinity Wars up to this point. The “Countdown” lead up has been interesting but as a chapter in the story goes, it generally wasn’t too exciting. It put the pieces of the puzzle in place setting up what’s to come. Infinity Wars #1, and the previous “Prime,” are winning me over from what felt like a rather poor imitation of some classic stories. Instead, we’re getting a fractured Infinity Watch, and a twist on the villain who’s not who we expect (for now).

The issue revolves around Doctor Strange gathering the wielders of the Infinity Stones together to explain the situation and come up with a plan, fully expecting that Thanos will soon come to collect the Stones. There’s a lot of ideas thrown around, some actually intelligent, but there’s no way this group is going to get along.

What’s solid is the group gathered. This isn’t just one Stone wielder, it’s their crew. That creates an opportunity for so much more entertainment, case in point Bullseye and his comments about Groot and Rocket as well as Black Widow. There’s so much opportunity and is a different feel that the usual single individuals coming together. It also emphasizes that who’s in play is very different than the past. It’s a different dynamic and writer Gerry Duggan nails the interaction.

I haven’t been too keen on the art in the lead up but Mike Deodato, Jr.‘s art is fantastic. The characters look great and each moment’s beat is nailed. Bullseye’s responses again are perfect examples of this. There’s a lot of characters here and they really run across the Marvel Universe and it all works and works effortlessly. There’s nothing that stands out as odd, it just flows and comes together nicely.

While the issue feels like the group catching up to the events of “Prime,” the interaction of everyone is beyond entertaining. It drives the issue and turns around an event that hasn’t quite hit the beat. It’s a righting of the ship in many ways and takes me from ho-hum to excited to see what happens next.

Sayonara Wade! Your New Look at Deadpool Number 250 – the Death of Deadpool!

That’s right! Add up all the Deadpool series (creatively), and April’s Deadpool #45 marks Wade Wilson’s landmark 250th issue! How is he celebrating? He’s dying! The end of the line comes for all, even one such as Deadpool, but he’s not gone yet! Say your condolences with this new look at the colossal-sized series finale!

First, Gerry Duggan, Brian Posehn and Mike Hawthorne serve up a 30-page main story, as the villainous Ultimatum finally makes their move. They’re coming for Deadpool – every last one of them! It’s going to be a bloodbath, but Wade’s going to go down swinging.

Then – Gerry, Brian and Scott Koblish bring you a long lost, full length Deadpool tale. Remember when Wade got a hold of the Infinity Gauntlet? No? Don’t worry – that’s what the story is for. And yes, you should be worried Wade Wilson is in possession of nigh-infinite cosmic power. First order of business? Summon the entire Marvel Universe for the ROAST OF DEADPOOL!

Finally, a killer (see what we did there?) line-up of celebrities, comedians and friends of ol’ Wade as they pay tribute to the Merc With a Mouth. Say goodbye alongside Paul Scheer, Nick Giovannetti, Scott Aukerman, Ben Acker, Ben Blacker, Jason Mantzoukas, Mike Drucker and more!

Wade will soon be gone, but never forgotten! Especially as he’s poised to make such a grand exit. And you can be there for the ride. No fan can afford to miss the massive 250th issue this April!

Preview: Madness & Mayhem Continue in a First Look at Hawkeye Vs. Deadpool #1!

This October, the no-holds-barred antics of the Marvel Universe’s most unlikely duo continue in Hawkeye Vs. Deadpool #1 – the official first issue of the blockbuster comic event of the fall. Even though this is really the second issue, but who’s counting? Gerry Duggan and Matteo Lolli return for the battle of the century (maybe) as the Merc with a Mouth battles the Avenging Archer! It’s Halloween night in Brooklyn, and that can only mean one thing – disaster is around the corner! And candy, always candy. The names and addresses of every active S.H.I.E.L.D. agent are about to be released, and it’s up to one Avenger and one (sometimes) X-Man to stop it. But is it trick or treat when they encounter bad guys dressed like good guys? Will Deadpool and Hawkeye kill each other before the night is through? Find out when the clash continues this October in Hawkeye Vs. Deadpool #1!
