The Walking Dead and AMC have been doing an excellent job of keeping folks updated and entertained while we all wait for the second season to hit television.  In the mean time, here’s the latest behind-the-scenes video featuring Writer/Director/Producer Frank Darabont, Andrew Lincoln (who plays Rick Grimes), Jon Bernthal (who plays Shane Walsh), Sarah Wayne Callies (who plays Lori Grimes) and Steven Yeun (who plays Glenn).

AMC has released the first image from the second season of their hit television series based on a comic book The Walking Dead.

The image also comes with a statement from producer Frank Darabont:

At this moment, I’m standing on a stretch of post-apocalypse interstate in Georgia, littered with abandoned cars and blessing my good luck to be reunited with our amazing cast, and our fantastic directors and crew. Across the board, there are none better. It’s great to be shooting again. I think we’ve embarked on a great season.

Walking Dead CastAMC’s The Walking Dead based off of the comic book series with the same name has been nominated for Best New Series Category by the Writers Guild of America.  Series writers Frank Darabont; Charles H. Eglee, Robert Kirkman, Jack LoGiudice and Glen Mazzara are listed in the award nomination.

The shows competition includes, Boardwalk Empire, Treme, Men of a Certain Age and Justified.

The 2011 Writers Guild Awards winners will be announced during a ceremony on Sat., Feb. 5 simultaneously at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel-Grand Ballroom in Los Angeles and the AXA Equitable Center in New York City.

Walking Dead CastAMC acknowledged that they “are making changes to the writing staff” of the hit television series The Walking Dead after Deadline reported that Frank Darabont the writing staff of the series instead going with free-lancers for the second season.  The rumor of course spread like the zombie plague.

AMC also announced that the first six-episode season of The Walking Dead will be available on DVD and Blu-ray from Anchor Bay.  Amazon has the release date as March 8th for both.
