Abrams ComicArts to Publish New, Expanded Edition of Alex Ross’s Fantastic Four: Full Circle

Alex RossFantastic Four: Full Circle was named 2022’s Graphic Novel of the Year by the National Cartoonists society and the Washington Post. Now, Abrams ComicArts is preparing to publish a new, expanded edition of the award-winning, bestselling graphic novel featuring over 250 pages of new material and running commentary from Alex Ross. Releasing on October 29, 2024, Fantastic Four: Full Circle (Expanded Edition) is a comprehensive look at the creative process of one of the most acclaimed and influential artists of our time.

Expanding on the original 64-page graphic novel, the oversized, new edition of Fantastic Four: Full Circle boasts 288 additional pages of jaw-dropping bonus material from Ross as he walks readers through his creative process and vision for the making of the book School Library Journal called a “pop art masterpiece.” Showcasing early visual concepts through final art, Ross takes readers behind-the-scenes, revealing for the first time his proposal, thumbnails, sketches, inks, color guides, models, and preliminary artwork, the majority of which have never been published before.

The book features commentary from Ross about his lifelong love of the Fantastic Four and his art and writing process. Fantastic Four: Full Circle (Expanded Edition) also reprints the complete run of Ross’ Marvel Comics covers featuring the Fantastic Four from 2023–24, in costumes designed for Fantastic Four: Full Circle. Also included is a reprint of “This Man . . . This Monster!” by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby—first published in Fantastic Four no. 51 in June 1966—the classic Marvel comic that inspired Fantastic Four: Full Circle.

Fantastic Four: Full Circle (Expanded Edition) will be available in bookstores on October 29, 2024, and in comic shops on October 30.

Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!

Fantastic Four: Full Circle

Wednesdays (and Tuesdays) are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in

Each week our contributors choose what they can’t wait to read this week or just sounds interesting. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look at!

Find out what folks think below, and what comics you should be looking out for this week.

Agent of Worlde #2 (Scout Comics) – Fantastic art plus crazy concepts are a nice bow about this secret agent who just wants to relax with his secret family.

Amazing Fantasy #1000 (Marvel) – Celebrate 60 years of Spider-Man with a hell of a group of creators.

Fantastic Four: Full Circle (Abrams Comicarts) – Alex Ross does the Fantastic Four in an original graphic novel. Nuff said.

Forever Forward #1 (Scout Comics) – A group launches themselves forward in time. Will they find the technology to travel back in their adventure?

Neverlanders (Razorbill) – A new take on Peter Pan we got a taste of on Free Comic Book Day. That introduction was great and got us beyond excited to read the full graphic novel.

Power Rangers Unlimited: The Death Ranger #1 (BOOM! Studios) – A Death Ranger you say? You have our attention.

Star Trek: Pickard – Stargazer #1 (IDW Publishing) – We’ve enjoyed the television series and want to see what comics can bring to the beloved character and new setting.

Thunderbolts #1 (Marvel) – With a movie in the works and the property still having lots of love, we get a new take spinning out of Devil’s Reign focused on the fallout from Wilson Fisk’s time as Mayor.

Transformers: Shattered Glass II #1 (IDW Publishing) – The first volume was interesting and we want to see what new twisted takes on the characters we love are to come!

The Variants #3 (Marvel) – The series has kept us guessing as to what’s going on. Fans of Jessica Jones need to check this out.

It’s a rainy night in Manhattan, and not a creature is stirring except for . . . Ben Grimm. When an intruder suddenly appears inside the Baxter Building, the Fantastic Four—Mister Fantastic (Reed Richards), the Invisible Woman (Susan Storm Richards), the Human Torch (Johnny Storm), and the Thing (Ben Grimm)—find themselves surrounded by a swarm of invading parasites. These carrion creatures composed of Negative Energy come to Earth using a human host as a delivery system. But for what purpose? And who is behind this untimely invasion?

The Fantastic Four have no choice but to journey into the Negative Zone, an alien universe composed entirely of anti-matter, risking not just their own lives but the fate of the cosmos!
