Wonder Woman #750 delivers “a Brave New World” by Scott Snyder, Bryan Hitch, Mike Spicer, and Tom Napolitano. Get a First Look.

Wonder Woman #750, on shelves this Wednesday, is an all-star 96-page celebration of the Amazon Princess by longtime favorites and acclaimed new voices! This oversized gem tells tales from Diana’s past and present, along with major implications for the future of DC’s first Super Hero!

With the publication of Wonder Woman #750, DC returns to legacy numbering for Wonder Woman, gives a glimpse into Diana’s distant past, and heads boldly towards the future!

Storytellers contributing to the issue also include Colleen Doran, Mariko Tamaki, legendary Wonder Woman creators Gail Simone, Liam Sharp, Nicola Scott, and Greg Rucka returning to the character, and more! Wonder Woman #750 also features pinup artwork by Ramona Fradon, José Luis Garcia-López, Emanuela Lupacchino, Bilquis Evely, and Travis Moore.

One of those major implications was teased in 2019, that Wonder Woman’s legacy precedes all other Super Heroes in the DCU’s overarching narrative. A hint at what that looks like can be seen in Wonder Woman #750’s “A Brave New World” eight-page story by Scott Snyder, Bryan Hitch, Mike Spicer, and Tom Napolitano.

Catwoman Celebrates 80 Years with a 100-Page Super Spectacular in April

DC’s feline fatale celebrates an 80th anniversary this year, and that calls for a grand soiree, invite only, attended by some of comics’ top creators! Stock up on both catnip and champagne!

Since the character first appeared alongside Batman in 1940’s Batman #1, Catwoman has become an icon to millions of comic book fans. The undeniable magnetism between Batman and Catwoman has been one of comics’ most reliable constants: wherever Catwoman goes, Batman is sure to follow, if only to take her down. As deadly as she is beautiful, infamous cat burglar Selina Kyle uses her nine lives to walk the razor’s edge between light and darkness in Gotham City.

On April 15, 2020, DC will celebrate Catwoman’s 80th anniversary with a landmark one-shot, Catwoman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular #1. Featuring a cover by series writer/artist Joëlle Jones, this must-have tribute comic includes stories by Ed Brubaker, Cameron Stewart, Paul Dini, Ann Nocenti, Adam Hughes, Tom King, Mikel Janín, Mindy Newell, Will Pfeifer, and Emanuela Lupacchino, as well as pinups by Steve Rude, Tula Lotay, Jim Balent, and others.

In a story that expands their monumental run, writer Ed Brubaker and artist Cameron Stewart will reprise their Catwoman collaboration with a new 12-page story, “The Art of Picking a Lock,” that takes place near end of their original dynamic story line that started with iconic storyteller Darwyn Cooke. And no stranger himself to writing dangerous antiheroes, Harley Quinn co-creator Paul Dini debuts a new character for Selina Kyle’s anniversary in a story about an exotic cat taxidermist who intends to add Catwoman to their collection!

Cameron Stewart has teased a bit of his contribution with Ed Brubaker.

In addition to Jones’s dynamic cover, fans and collectors can also look forward to eight variant covers spotlighting Catwoman throughout the decades, drawn by some of comics’ premier artists:

  • 1940s variant cover by Adam Hughes
  • 1950s variant cover by Travis Charest
  • 1960s variant cover by J. Scott Campbell
  • 1970s variant cover by Frank Cho
  • 1980s variant cover by Stanley “Artgerm” Lau
  • 1990s variant cover by Gabriele Dell’Otto
  • 2000s variant cover by Jim Lee and Scott Williams
  • 2010s variant cover by Jeehyung Lee

The Catwoman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular #1 is a prestige format comic book retailing for $9.99 and available at local comics retailers and digital retailers on April 15, 2020.

DC Reveals More of the Infected in November

Six corrupt versions of DC’s Super Heroes are coming to terrorize Earth this November and December, as DC Comics has teased early details of a series of six comics running parallel to the story unfolding in Batman/Superman by writer Joshua Williamson and artist David Marquez. Each one-shot or tie-in special spotlights a corrupt version of Shazam!, Supergirl, Hawkman and more, known within the DC Universe as The Infected. These six issues star DC’s beloved heroes, revealed to be secretly infected by The Batman Who Laughs with a toxin that violently transforms them into the worst versions of themselves. Their buried frustrations and pent-up anger will boil to the surface, unleashing dangerous results.

Kicking off these spotlight, one-shot issues is The Infected: King Shazam! #1 on November 6th by writer Sina Grace and artist Joe Bennett, to be followed by The Infected: Scarab #1 on November 20th, written by Dennis “Hopeless” Hallum with art by Freddie E. Williams II. Both issues will feature covers by David Marquez and Dean White. One is a story of a hero whose soul has been turned black and who has something to prove to the old guard, the other a tale of a hero fighting the evil inside him, with his friends and family about to pay the price…and then some.

While fans got hints of The Infected in The Batman Who Laughs by Scott Snyder and Jock and have seen the brutality of a jacked-up, Dark Multiverse-infected Shazam! in previews of Batman/Superman, the scope of the deadly pathogen unleashed by The Batman Who Laughs, himself a twisted Dark Multiverse version of Bruce Wayne, has yet to be realized.

Rounding out November are The Infected tie-in issues Hawkman #18 on November 13th, written by Robert Venditti with art by Pat Olliffe and Tom Palmer, and Supergirl #36 on November 13th, written by Marc Andreyko with art by Eduardo Pansica and Julio FerreiraHawkman #18 cover art is by Tyler Kirkham while Supergirl #36 cover art is by Dan Mora.

Through all this, neither Superman nor Batman know who’s been infected, they don’t know who has turned, and they don’t know who’s a sleeper agent for The Batman Who Laughs. Can they even trust each other? All six of The Infected will be revealed when Batman/Superman #4 by Joshua Williamson and David Marquez, with an acetate cover by Emanuela Lupacchino, hits shelves on November 27th

The final two victims of The Batman Who Laughs’ toxins, no spoilers here, will hit shelves with spotlight one-shot issues of their own in December 2019. Pick up The Batman Who Laughs (HC) by Scott Snyder and Jock along with Batman/Superman#1 by Joshua Williamson and David Marquez on August 28th at your local comic shop for clues to who the other two heroes turned by The Batman Who Laughs’ influence might be!

DC Announces Birds of Prey by Brian Azzarello and Emanuela Lupacchino

Harleen Quinzel, Dinah Lance and Helena Bertinelli are all-powerful as individuals and become an unstoppable force when together, but you need to break some eggs to become the Birds of Prey. Luckily, none of these heroes have a problem cracking heads, certainly not a post-Suicide Squad Harley Quinn. Debuting this October, DC present Birds of Prey, a new ongoing monthly comic starring Harley Quinn, Black Canary, and Huntress with more pressure and higher stakes than fans have ever seen before, brought to you by hard-boiled superstar writer Brian Azzarello and the bombshell art team of Emanuela Lupacchino, Ray McCarthy, and Trish Mulvihill.

Needless to say, the Birds are back in town!

When the new series launches on October 30, 2019, Black Canary’s life has spiraled out of control: her personal life is going through the wringer and her band is in crisis. An old flame resurfaces only to flicker out and set Dinah on an all-new mission against an all-new opponent: Las Esposas de la Muerte. The only thing Dinah can be grateful for is the fact that she’s not alone, as Huntress finds herself on a collision course with Black Canary’s quarry at Detective Montoya’s urging. Meanwhile, Harley Quinn has resurfaced outside of Gotham City and out of the Suicide Squad, with a new lease on life that is sure to make everyone’s life more complicated. And that’s only the first five pages of this dynamic new ongoing series!

Birds of Prey #1written by Brian Azzarello with art by Emanuela Lupacchino, Ray McCarthy and Trish Mulvihill, debuts in comic book stores and online retailers on Wednesday, October 30, with a cover by Lupacchino, McCarthy and Nicholas Filardi and a card stock variant cover by J. Scott Campbell.
