Black Eye Books Kickstarts Jay Stephens’ First Comic Series in Over 20 Years

Dwellings

Black Eye Books has launched Harvey and Eisner-Award nominated cartoonist Jay Stephens first ongoing comic book series in over twenty years. The first issue is currently available on Kickstarter. The project has already passed its goal and ends on October 31.

Blending retro cuteness with classic small-town horror, Dwellings will feature one complete and self-contained story each issue. The first issue features a tale of murder and crows entitled They Know.

Set in southern Ontario, Dwellings is a series of horror tales, lovingly drawn in a vintage comics style to most perfectly invoke those half-remembered terrors of youth. The true meaning of the word nostalgia is, ‘to return home in pain’. So lets get nostalgic, shall we?

Dwellings will be printed for a December release as a 36 page, full-color, stapled comic book, and is being offered to readers as a pre-order via crowdfunding. The digital edition starts at $5 Canadian (about $4 in US dollars) with a print copy being $10 Canadian (about $8 in US dollars) plus shipping. Also available are signed copies, previous releases from Stephens, inked blue-line production art, and more.
