Exclusive Preview: Get a sneak peek at Asylum Press’ Zombie Terrors: Undead Special #1

The skin-crawling, flesh-eating anthology is back – just in time for the chilly winter season. With Zombie Terrors: Undead Special #1, Asylum Press unearths a fresh quartet of stories from an international pool of talent pool for a truly satisfying feast of the flesh.

  • In Bloody Good Time, an undercover cop finds himself desperate and alone while trying to make his way out of a cursed biker club. Definitely not the ‘groovy night’ he was looking for. Based on a story by Mark Kidwell (‘68, Frazetta’s Dark Kingdom), with script by Jeff Vigil and art by the legendary Tim Vigil (Faust, Gothic Knights).
  • Meanwhile, over in Cellar Dwellers, a serial killer receives his just desserts when the bodies of his victims buried in the cellar start to rise again with murderous intent. Written and illustrated by Dwayne Harris (Heavy Metal, Warlash).
  • Continuing the blood-soaked horror, Cosplay Sacrifice, a group of fanboys have to defend themselves against a horde of cosplay zombies – dressed as their favorite comic book heroes! Written and illustrated by Asylum press founder, Frank Forte (Vampire Macabre, Heavy Metal).
  • And finally, Survival tells the story of cynical family of madmen doing whatever it takes to survive in an agonizing world full of rampaging zombies. Written by Pablo Barbieri with art by Carlos Vega.

Fans of horror and zombies will find themselves recoiling in delight at this unholy anthology of flesh-eating terror!

Zombie Terrors: Undead Special #1 (one-shot) was previously solicited for release before production delays put the project on hold and the Diamond bankruptcy delayed printing and distribution even further. The one-shot is now available to comic shops via Lunar Distribution with an in-store date of December 10, 2025. Fans are encouraged to place pre-orders in comic shops before the Lunar Final Order Cutoff date of November 10, 2025.

The issue features four blood-soaked variant covers, including Asylum’s own Frank Forte, Steve Mannion, a Blank Sketch Cover edition, and a NSFW Risque cover by Tim Vigil.

Asylum Press has launched Zombie Terrors: Undead Special #1 on Kickstarter. Featuring a creative cast of incredible international talent. Heavy Metal Entertainment has announced the release of Heavy Metal #298, the Furthest Reaches Special, coming March 2020. In the lead up to Heavy Metal’s landmark 300th issue, the world’s greatest illustrated science fiction mag will take readers to the edge of the cosmos and beyond with this specially curated issue.

Managing editor Tim Seeley (Hack/Slash, Halloween, Batman Eternal) helms the intergalactic Heavy Metal starship bound for Alpha Proxima 9! An amazing collection of all-new science fiction tales fills this issue. Stories so twisted they are sure to blow a circuit in that defective cybernetic implant you had inserted into your cerebellum.

In this issue:

  • “Murky World” Chapter 12, by Richard Corben, continues. In a bizarre land populated by hungry deadlings, cruel necromancers, and buxom cyclops, Tugat the warrior sets out to retrieve his lost horse Frix.
  • David Hine & Mark Stafford create bone-chilling intersections with insectoid life in “Bug House.”

  • “Philip K Dick’s Head is Missing” is based on the true story of the Android Head of sci-fi legend Philip K. Dick that went missing in 2005.  In 1980, Robert Faraday, assistant to Philip K. Dick, chronicles the author quickly losing his mind. While the author tries to explain staggering visions from space, his Android simulacrum gains a sentience of its own in the future.   • Carlos Huante, Artist and concept designer for the Ridley Scott films Alien: Covenant and Alien: Prometheus, is featured with a gallery of previously unseen images and concept designs. Also highlighted in a gallery is futurist visionary Josan “Deathburger” Gonzalez as he discusses his post apocalyptic worlds of Robo-City Prime and New Citadel 9. Interviews by Hanna Means Shannon.
  • In Omar Estevez and FG Dr. Stain Ortiz Rivero’s “Totemic”, a couple of bandits in a ravaged world discover that sometimes it’s better not to get what you asked for.
  • “Project Z”: An earth-shattering asteroid changed the course of mankind forever. The few who survived sought to rebuild what was lost, factions of people scattered across the earth, unbeknownst to one another, fight to survive on this now desolate earth. By Matt Medney & Morgan Rosenblum.
  • “Dowser” is a short story by Dwayne Harris. In a world nearly devoid of drinkable water, a vicious gang holds sway over one of the few remaining wells in the American Southwest. When their well runs dry, they seek out a legendary figure, the Dowser, to help them find another – whether he’s willing to or not.

May 1, 2012 (Los Angeles) Frank Forte announces that Asylum Press will release a 32 page sampler comic on Free Comic Book Day 2012.

Titled ASYLUM PRESS SAMPLER FREE COMIC BOOK 2012 #1, this book will feature 8 pages from four upcoming titles; Trenchcoats, Cigarettes and Shotguns, Black Powder, Farmhouse and Chopper.

ASYLUM PRESS SAMPLER FREE COMIC BOOK 2012 #1 will be available on Comixology, Comics+ (Iverse), Graphicly, MyDigitalComics.com as well as stand alone apps and epubs on KindleFire, Nook, Kobo, ibookstore, and Googlebooks.

Robert Young and his crew set out on the Mississippi River in search of Molly Livingston, who has been captured by the ruthless river pirate Samuel Mason.  As they make their way north, against the current, they approach hostile indian territory as well as the first in series of terrible earthquakes.  Farmhouse is a tale of a drifter who falls in love with an artist undergoing an experimental art therapy regimen, by Elizabeth J. Musgrave and Szymon Kudranski. Chopper #2 Preview: (written by Martin Shapiro, Illustrated by Juan Ferreyra) Christina and her rowdy girlfriends go to the Daytona Bike Week motorcycle rally and sneak into a nightclub to see a heavy metal band. After taking a hit of the supernatural drug known as Stairway to Heaven, Christina and Trish encounter the ghostly Reaper, a headless Hell’s Angel on a chopper who collects the souls of sinners in the afterlife.
