Cross to Bear #3 (AfterShock) – The series has turned out to be so much more than a secret org chasing Jack the Ripper across America.
DC vs. Vampires #3 (DC Comics) – The first two issues have been fantastic at the setup of vampires infiltrating the DCU and we’re hoping this one delivers a lot more action as they strike.
Death of Doctor Strange #4 (Marvel) – Who will be the new Sorcerer Supreme? We already know the answer but we want the details!
Deathstroke Inc. #4 (DC Comics) – The comic has been silly fun so far with over-the-top action.
Devil’s Reign #2 (Marvel) – The first issue was fantastic as the Kingpin’s plans for Marvel’s heroes comes together.
The Human Target #3 (DC Comics) – The series has Christopher Chance attempting to figure out who poisoned him and his been so good hitting the noir vibe.
Mazebook #5 (Dark Horse) – A father attempts to bring home his lost daughter. It’s been a haunting series by Jeff Lemire and we want to see how it wraps up.
Mega #1 (Red 5 Comics) – A gigantic creature has been awaken from its eternal sleep in Antarctica and only another sleeping giant can stop it.
Night of Cadillacs #2 (Scout Comics) – Our heroes Stiv and Hope flee supernatural gangs commanded by the sinister godfather Papa Duke.
Power Rangers Universe #1 (BOOM! Studios) – What is the true origin of the Phantom Ranger? And what is his connection to the Morphin Grid?
Stray Dogs: Dog Days #1 (Image Comics) – The first volume of Stray Dogs was amazing so to get any more makes us happy. It being so good? Yeah, we’re beyond excited to get as much as we can.
Swamp Thing: Green Hell #1 (DC Comics) – The Parliaments of the Green, the Red, and the Rot all agree: it’s time to wipe the slate clean and start the cycle of life over again. Written by Jeff Lemire with art by Doug Mahnke? Yeah, this is one to check out.
Task Force Z #3 (DC Comics) – Red Hood leads his own Suicide Squad of zombified villains. The concept is crazy and works so well.
Timeless #1 (Marvel) – Marvel’s 2022 begins here!

DEATHSTROKE VS. BLACK CANARY! Now that they know the truth about the secretive T.R.U.S.T. organization, Black Canary and Deathstroke are at odds over what to do about it. But before they can set aside their hatred for each other, they are attacked by an army of the DC Universe’s deadliest villains!
Beginning in March 2022, Joshua Williamson is bringing fans Shadow War, a three-month crossover event where the worlds of Batman, Robin (Damian Wayne) and Deathstroke collide in an event that will have major ramifications in the DC Universe!
The action begins on March 29, with Shadow War Alpha #1, written by Williamson, with art by Viktor Bogdanovic. Slade Wilson commits an unthinkable act, and Talia al Ghul, the Daughter of the Demon, is out for blood! The League of Shadows is out to murder Deathstroke and destroy Deathstroke Inc., and it’s up to Batman and Robin to track Slade down and bring him to justice, but do they? This 48-page one-shot is priced at $5.99 and features a main cover by Jonboy Meyers, with variant covers by Bogdanovic and a card stock variant cover by Detective Comics artist Dan Mora, priced at $6.99.
Eager fans will have two chances to get a glimpse into the events unfolding in Shadow War before Shadow War Alpha #1 arrives in comic book stores. On March 22, Robin #12, also written by Williamson with art by Roger Cruz, features a changed Damian Wayne returning to Gotham after the end of the Lazarus Tournament, only to have one more opponent to battle to the death: Damian Wayne! Priced at $3.99, cover art is provided by Viktor Bogdanovic, with variant covers from Francis Manapul (main variant) and Crystal Kung (1:25 “ratio” variant).
Deathstroke Inc. #7 also arrives in stores on March 22, written by Williamson with art by Stephen Segovia. This issue spotlights a guest appearance by Slade’s daughter Rose Wilson, a.k.a. Ravager in father-daughter face off! Ravager wants to know why Deathstroke has proclaimed himself “King of the Super-Villains,” and she’s brought the mysterious character Respawn with her to find out! This is the issue where past secrets are exposed, resulting in a cliffhanger that leads directly into Shadow War! Frequent Williamson collaborator Howard Porter provides the main cover (priced at $3.99), with the main variant cover by Ivan Tao, and a 1 in 25 ratio variant card stock cover by Acky Bright (priced at $4.99).
The Shadow War action continues in April with Batman #122. Deathstroke Inc. #8, and Robin #13 and concludes in May with Batman #123, Shadow War Zone #1, Deathstroke Inc. #9, and Robin #14, concluding with the can’t-miss Shadow War Omega #1.

Deathstroke Inc. #3 (DC Comics) – The series has been a solid take on the character without him going the “hero” route. He’s the asshole we love to see what he does next.
Harbinger #2 (Valiant) – The first issue was a solid debut that worked well for long-time fans of the characters and a jumping on point for new readers.
Hawkeye: Kate Bishop #1 (Marvel) – With a high-profile debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Kate Bishop is getting a new series that should be perfect for new readers.
The History of Science Fiction Vol. 1 (Humanoids) – What will be covered and what will be left out? We want to see what gets the spotlight in this graphic novel that covers the genre from the 1800s to present day.
House of Slaughter #2 (BOOM! Studios) – Something is Killing the Children has been a hit and we’re watching this spin-off series to see if it can repeat the magic.
Hulk #1 (Marvel) – After an epic run, where do things go? We’ll find out soon!
Joy Operations #1 (Dark Horse Comics) – Brian Michael Bendis brings his talent to Dark Horse with a new creator-owned series through his Jinxworld imprint.
Serial #8 (Abstract Studio) – The series has been growing on us as Zoe has been getting closer and closer to figuring out what’s going on with the serial killer Jenny and we learn more about Jenny’ motivations.
Task Force Z #2 (DC Comics) – The concept shouldn’t work but the first issue proved it can! Red Hood leads a team of revived “zombie” villains.

Deathstroke Inc. #2 delivers an issue that’s full of action in unexpected ways. Deathstroke and the team must go to space to rescue scientists who have been taken hostage on a space station. It’s the type of setup that is open for some potential and writer Joshua Williamson and artist Howard Porter take advantage in ways that are beyond unexpected.
Deathstroke Inc. #2 has Deathstroke, Black Canary, and Hiro heading to space where they come across the unexpected Cyborg Superman who’s trying to do some villainy thing. Those specifics aren’t too important, it’s just the fun action by which Porter can work his artistic magic with the issue. Williamson keeps the story fun and fast paced with lots of action and the quips you’d hope for this sort of story. Deathstroke is full of irritation as he must deal with strange situation after strange situation. And his reactions are one of a grumpy soldier thrown into a crappy situation they don’t want to be in.
It’s Porter’s art that stands out for the issue and takes a fun romp into space to the next level. Hi-Fi handles the color while letterer Steve Wands has an interesting task based on the layouts of the page. It’s those layouts that pop.
Porter takes the issue in a really interesting direction with nothing but two-page spreads. The choice by the team is one that opens up the flow and the action in a way that feels appropriate for space. A normal grid layout with some panels breaking them wouldn’t quite have the same impact.
What’s impressive about Deathstroke Inc. #2 is how it evokes the weightlessness of space in those pages with a look that’s fitting and shows the flow of movement so well. It opens up amazing page flows with work that’s just not regularly scene in comics. The issue is so unique in its style that it deserves to be bought for the art alone. The fact the story is fun too just adds to the enjoyment of it all.
The issue doesn’t waste a moment setting up the various personalities of the characters and letting them shine in the issue. It also does an excellent job of setting up the plot to come and the mystery being dangled in front of us. A fantastic issue that’s a must see.
