Marvel’s Avengers is wrapping things up

Marvel's Avengers

Rumors that the games’ time was coming up have turned true as Marvel’s Avengers will be ending its support. Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix have announced in a blog post that:

To our amazing community,

After two-and-a-half years and introducing twelve of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, following Update 2.8 on March 31, 2023, we will no longer add new content or features to Marvel’s Avengers. All official support for the game will end on September 30, 2023.

Even after official support ceases on September 30, 2023, both single- and multi-player gameplay will continue to be available…

…As a show of our appreciation for our community, starting March 31, 2023 we will make all the game’s Marketplace, Challenge Card, and Shipment cosmetic content available to all players for free. Every single Outfit, Takedown, Emote, and Nameplate from the Marketplace, Challenge Cards, and Shipments will be free for all players from this date onwards if you own a copy of the game.

Gifting the full library of Marketplace cosmetic content is a way to thank our community by letting everyone experience the breadth and depth of content in Marvel’s Avengers.

We know this is disappointing news as everyone in our community has such a connection to these characters and their stories. We’re so, so grateful that you came on this adventure with us. Your excitement for Marvel’s Avengers – from your epic Photo Mode shots, to your threads theorizing who our next Heroes would be, to your Twitch streams – has played a large part in bringing this game to life.

We hope you continue to play and enjoy Marvel’s Avengers. We can’t thank you enough for your support and for being part of our super team.

– Marvel’s Avengers Development Team

The game will still be available to play, including multiplayer. Support and updates will just be ending in September with the final update and new content coming in late March.

The Winter Soldier Arrives in Marvel’s Avengers

Crystal Dynamics has announced that Marvel’s Avengers Update 2.7 is available. The Update brings with it a new playable Hero, Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, and an entirely new four-player Omega-Level Threat mission, Cloning Lab, where players team up to take on a newly revitalized MODOK in one of the game’s toughest end-game challenges.

A series of Marvel’s Avengers trailers are now available and offer an extensive look at what players can expect from Update 2.7.

Today’s update includes new gear and increases the maximum power level achievable in the game to 185, adding to a game already packed with content, and continues the game’s story through the ongoing Avengers Initiative. Marvel’s Avengers now offers several campaigns, 11 playable heroes (12 on PlayStation platforms), and endless multiplayer co-op action for up to four players.

About the Winter Soldier

Bucky Barnes, AKA the Winter Soldier, is a master assassin, brawler, and ranged specialist. Scientist Supreme Monica Rappaccini captured him to use him as her personal assassin and leverage his Soviet-era protocols to harness MODOK as a more pliable weapon. But Barnes escaped with the help of the Avengers, and now he’s looking to bring AIM to justice…and for a way to overcome his guilt and anger over the terrible things he has done.

Barnes doesn’t like to lose and doesn’t back down from fights. The battlefield is the Winter Soldier’s home. After all he’s been through, there are few things he is sure of other than his fighting skills and his devotion to his allies.

About the Cloning Lab Omega-Level Threat Mission

A large and familiar face is back with a vengeance: Scientist Supreme Monica Rappaccini’s latest experiment MODOK waits in the depths of AIM’s Cloning Lab. In one of Marvel’s Avengers’ truest tests of end-game teamwork, Cloning Lab requires advanced tactics and the full cooperation of a four-player team to beat the 175 Power Level challenge and obtain more-powerful gear. Along the way, players will be a part of Marvel’s Avengers’ unfolding narrative as they try to defeat MODOK before the Scientist Supreme can take control of one of the world’s most powerful minds!

Marvel’s Avengers Gets More Content from Crystal Dynamics

Marvel’s Avengers has been a bit of a rough game though been improving as more content has been released. At E3, new expansions for the game have been revealed by Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics.

“Cosmic Cube” and a trip to “Wasteland Patrol” were highlighted with new modes but it’s the cinematic trailer that was the highlight.

The “Black Panther: War for Wakanda” expansion was the big reveal for the game which features Black Panther and the Avengers taking on Klaw. It will be included at no additional cost.

Black Panther must defend Wakanda from Klaw, who seeks to steal Vibranium for his own desires. Watch the cinematic trailer for Marvel’s Avengers Expansion: Black Panther – War for Wakanda. Available in August 2021!

Square Enix, Eidos Montreal, and Crystal Dynamic’s Marvel’s Avengers Gets New Trailers

A new trailer has been released for the upcoming video game Marvel’s Avengers. The game is by Square Enix, Eidos Montreal, and Crystal Dynamics.

In it, we get a better sense of the storyline which puts Kamala Khan at the center of reassembling the Avengers after an event they’re blamed for. In the new video, we get a sense of some gameplay and cinematics which… are a mixed bag. There’s also hints as to what sort of currency system will be in the game leading to some speculation that you may be spending out of pocket to get everything. The game will allow you to team up with three players to take on AIM.

Marvel’s Avengers come to shelves September 4, 2020.

Square Enix Reveals Marvel Avengers

During their E3 press conference, Square Enix revealed our first look at Marvel’s Avengers developed by Crystal Dynamics.

“The Avengers Project” from Marvel, Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics, and Eidos Montreal

After a “tune in” announcement yesterday, Marvel and Square Enix have revealed a much-speculated video game collaboration right now being referred to as “The Avengers Project.” Being developed by Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics, and Eidos Montreal, it’s unknown exactly what we can expect but the teaser video hints at a bleak future where the heroes we know have been defeated and a new generation much rise… kind of like Old Man Logan and who knows how many similar dystopian stories Marvel has published.

The video’s voice-over states:

They say the time of heroes is over. That if you’re different, you’re dangerous, but I know the truth. The world will always need heroes, we just need to reassemble.

The announcement between Marvel and Square Enix is a multi-year, multi-game partnership leading with this project. I’d speculate Marvel will be bringing the type of world building we’ve seen in their movie franchises to the video game realm, interlinked stories across multiple titles. Marvel has worked with publishers in the

Marvel has worked with publishers in the past and released notable games like Marvel Ulitmate Alliance and the Capcom vs. Marvel series, but has yet to match it’s movie or comic popularity with the video game platform. There has been a realignment in the company’s strategy in recent years with more cross-media projects such as their Contest of Champions which saw a video game and comic tie-in as well as more mobile/web game releases.
