Comic Blitz Folds into Cinedigm’s CONtv App

And there was one less? Sort of? Comic Blitz, which dubbed itself “the Netflix of comics” is no more, having been absorbed into parent company Cindedigm‘s CONv App. CONtv is now known as CONtv + Comics and promises a “less janky” experience along with more for your money including video.

CONtv is a geek-centric subscription-based video streaming service with a curated collection of sci-fi, horror, fantasy, anime, cult, and grindhouse movies all complete & uncut. And on top of that, they have loads of episodes of anime, classic cartoons, and other cool TV content.

CONtv + Comics is available for $5.99 a month. The new app includes a new “cleaner” look, with “improved” navigation, flow, and expanded functionality.

ComicBlitz will officially be shutting down July 31st, 2019.

CONtv Has Some Free Comic Book Day Promotions

CONtv Launches Original Series Comic Book America with Mike Carbonaro

Comic Book America with Mike CarbonaroPop Culture and Comics guru and Wizard World, Inc. favorite Mike Carbonaro travels near and far in search of the best books, toys and memorabilia in CONtv’s newest original series, Comic Book America with Mike Carbonaro.

The mini-series debuted this week on CONtv, where fans can catch up with Mike “Carbo” Carbonaro as he locates comic books, vintage playsets, classic artwork, and sports memorabilia in the first four episodes. CONtv director of programming, Nash Herrington, produces the series.

The show features the enthusiastic Carbonaro as he highlights some of the more unique and interesting collections he’s come across, such as one man’s Doctor Strange collection, classic Joe Palooka, Flintstone playsets, and others. Also, fans can play along at home while they watch by using social media to tell what they would pay for the items that Carbonaro buys in the show.

The highlight of the show is the host himself. An enterprising and successful entrepreneur, Carbonaro began buying and selling comics at age 10. At age 13, Carbonaro set up at his very first comic convention. Later, from 1981 to 1997, he ran his own very successful comic book store, Continental Comics, in Queens, N.Y. In 1996, Carbonaro began the very first Big Apple Convention at St. Paul the Apostle church on 58th St. and Columbus in Manhattan; 12 years later it was the most successful privately owned comic convention in New York City. “Carbo” is currently working as a buyer for Dave & Adam’s Cardworld (also seen at many Wizard World shows) and doing what he loves—buying comic and pop culture collections from around the world.

CONtv To Live Stream Tennant/Piper and Amell Panels Saturday

wizard worldCONtv, the new digital entertainment network devoted exclusively to the fanspace, will live stream Saturday’s top Q&A panels, including the one featuring Doctor Who stars David Tennant and Billie Piper (10:30-11:15 a.m ET) and another starring Arrow headliner Stephen Amell (3:30-4:15 p.m ET) from Wizard World Comic Con Philadelphia.

It marks the first time that Tennant and Piper have participated in a live streamed Q&A session; the appearance at the convention marks their first dual U.S. public signing and photo op appearance.

The live streams, titled “The Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey David Tennant And Billie Piper” and “Protecting Starling City with Stephen Amell,” are open to all fans who register for free at the links above.

Tennant, who starred as the Tenth Doctor on the long-running series Doctor Who, will appear at Wizard World Comic Con Philadelphia on Saturday and Sunday, while Piper, who was his love Rose Tyler, will attend Saturday only. On site, the panel is open on site to Doctor Who VIP attendees only.

Stephen Amell plays the title character in the CW’s hit series Arrow, based on the famous DC Comics superhero, The Green Arrow. Amell will appear at Wizard World Comic Con Philadelphia on Saturday and Sunday. The panel is open on site to all attendees, with VIP attendees receiving first entry. Seating is limited.

Jason David FrankCONtv, the new on-demand streaming service from Wizard World and Cinedigm targeted to Comic Con fans, has announced its third original series with My Morphing Life, helmed by fan favorite television and digital star Jason David Frank. Based on Frank’s popular YouTube web series, My Morphing Life will be a featured part of CONtv’s original programming slate. The new network will launch in early February 2015, with the new series set to premiere in early March.

A Power Ranger for over 20 years, Frank has truly embodied his role as the celebrated and heroic Green Ranger. My Morphing Life follows Frank through his daily adrenaline-fueled antics to give fans a thrilling look inside his base-jumping, high-flying, ass-kicking life as he breaks world records, greets fans, raises his daughter and tackles death-defying stunts.

Given the success of the series’ first season (originally titled My Morphin Life) on YouTube, Frank has become a new media star in his own right, engaging his loyal fans with regular video vlogs and messaging across YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. With support from Saban Brands, home to the Power Rangers franchise, Season One has generated over 1.5 million views to date.
