Roots of Madness #3 continues to tease the horrors while showing off a little scientific magic

Etta’s research is taking her to some strange places, but she’s also starting to see results—even if it’s not always the results she expected or even hoped for. Part of this could be down to that even though she is seeking a connection to the women in her family who preceded her, the land that they once worked—and that she now finds herself exploring—has a much darker history it would rather stay a secret than allow to be celebrated or exposed. The only trouble is, the more Etta uncovers, the more she is determined to find out.

And just what is happening with those rabbits?!

Jordan hates everything about this.

His twin sister Winter, on the other hand, thinks all of this is awesome! Too bad her connection with their monster-fighting father is driving a wedge between her and their mother. And just what is going on with their stepdad Gary Williams?

Things are just getting started in Just Brutal, the kick-ass new comic from Dennis Hopeless (Heart Eyes; Spider-Woman), Brahm Revel (Guerillas; Marvel Knights: X-Men) and Marissa Lousie (Mr. Terrific).

It’s every woman for herself in this wilderness…which makes her suspicious of the new guy who claims he wants to help her.

This second issue from Cullen Bunn (Deluge; The Sixth Gun) and Aneke (Future State: Batgirls) hits like a punch to the face. Features a very creepy cover by Jorge Fornes (Batman; Rorschach).

Madeline has immersed herself fully in Rook’s world. The art thief has infiltrated the luxurious Koh Kingfisher resort as a security guard, and he’s using his perch from the control room to spy on the guests via the closed-circuit cameras. When they leave their rooms, he enters on the sly, stealing the expensive paintings from the walls and replacing them with fakes. Madeline decides to speed up the process by luring the unsuspecting victims away herself to give Rook the access he needs. But can the crook handle the jealousy her scheme fuels within him?

No Place #2 has a cool mix of X-Files and classic fantasy stories

It’s Mariposa Montiel’s first day on the job with Nether Operations Place, a shadow organization responsible for protecting Earth against invasions from other realms.

This is the new purpose Mari’s been craving since she returned to the hostile real world after three years of thriving as a living legend in a magical alternate-dimension jungle paradise. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime, but Mari’s intensely intellectual field partner, Allen Dion, is openly envious of her first-hand experience with the extraordinary; and her boss, Dorothy Gale—yes, THE Dorothy Gale of the Land of Oz—has little patience for learning curves and may be carrying some baggage of her own into the mission.

No pressure, right? Good thing there’s no time to wallow in self-doubt when a wicked aquatic presence has a hold on Chicago’s waterways and all eyes are on Mari to crack the case. Let the team-building begin!

Bodies are piling up, and the police are no closer to finding out what is causing seemingly normal people to turn into homicidal maniacs. Unfortunately for Detective Nika, she may no longer need to go looking for answers, as the killers may be coming to her!

Also looking for clues are Mina and her friends, enthusiasts of true crime shows. They’ve been noticing the darkness creeping into their city, and they are starting to ask their own questions—especially since Mina survived a random attack herself. It’s only a matter of time before someone else hears the mysterious podcast and more people wind up dead.

Cover A by Jorge Fornes
Cover B by Aneke
Cover C by Maria Wolf
Ignition Exclusive cover by Patricia Martin

The drug known as “Ripcord” has become the scourge of the world. It’s extremely addictive, and it doesn’t just alter your perception, it fundamentally alters who you are.

Ripcord users have their whole bodies taken over by the substance, and it transforms them into mindless, frenzied killers who want nothing but to destroy. This makes every place the drug has grown popular dangerous.

Dillon is one of thousands who has lost a family member to Ripcord, but unlike so many others, she’s going to do something about it. Her sister has gone missing in the Outback, and Dillon is going to stop at nothing—and let nothing stop her—until she brings her home.

This latest foray into the darker depths of humanity from writer Cullen Bunn (The Sixth Gun, Deluge) is brought to vivid life by artist Aneke (DC Comics Bombshells, Bylines in Blood) and colorist Patricia Martin (Dune: The Graphic Novel). Ripcord is an ultraviolent exploitation comic in the vein of movies like Mad Max and Near Dark. Each issue features a cover by Jorge Fornes, the artist of Rorschach and Danger Street.

Every family has problems – but the Savage Family has actual monsters.

Jordan Savage is a normal 16-year-old kid barely holding it together after his parents’ recent divorce. His twin sister Winter is his opposite in every way—including how she is coping with the changes in the Savage family’s lives.

And those changes are bigger than they could even imagine. They are about to find out that the boring, bickering parents they’ve lived with this whole time are secretly ancient deathdealing barbarian warriors. They have been living quietly for 3000 years, having defeated their nemesis—the evil sorcerer warlord Farklar the Fleshless—leaving the world safe for humanity. Only now, Farklar has returned, and his army of hideous Mordorks are about to devour Des Moines. Now the Savages are piled in Mom’s minivan headed for Iowa to wage war against Black Magic Armageddon. Jordan is freaking out, Winter thinks it’s all pretty cool, and no one is sure if Mom and Dad can get along long enough to save civilization from destruction.

She isn’t sure which terrifies her more: the potential consequences of such dangerous actions, or the agony of not knowing what amazing things her formulas could do for her fellow man.

Yet, the more she thinks she understands how the science works, the less she comprehends the influence the otherworldly forces that fuel her experiments are having over her own life.

This tale of cosmic horror from Stephanie Williams (Wonder Woman) and Letizia Cadonici (House of Slaughter) intensifies.

Can Maggie lead one last push to find an escape before it’s too late?

Now more than ever, they find themselves desperately needing to crack the mystery behind why everyone is dying. Despite their estrangement, Nika updates Josie on what the police have figured out about Dead Sounds, and Josie rallies the team to go dig deeper on their own.

Little do they know, the cult who are helping the spread of the cursed podcast are mobilizing, as well.

Master storytellers Jeremy Haun (The Beauty) and Mike Tisserand take us closer to the source of the killings in another bone-chilling issue of Murder Podcast.

Arcadia #1 is some solid sci-fi that slowly teases the future to come

In a future where humanity has vanished, a new form of life rises from the ruins: the Serants, artificial beings born from mysterious technological chrysalises known as Superdragons. Each one carries a Pearl, a biotechnological core that holds their consciousness, their memories…their soul.

Halu is a Serant born late, emerging from a forgotten silo. He is rescued from destruction by Weedy, an eccentric scavenger obsessed with the remnants of the past and the search for meaning in their own existence. Soon after, Halu meets Fix, a practical, strong, and luminous young mechanic who awakens something deep within him. Together, in a world of ruins and dangers, they search for meaning, connection, and a reason to endure.

Arcadia is a work of existential science fiction–profoundly human, where memory and love endure as a precious mystery that refuses to fade. A story that explores what makes us human…when humanity is no longer there to tell us the answer.

Deluge #2 continues the tension, chaos, and guessing as the inmates deal with the unknown

The rain isn’t stopping, and the women incarcerated in the Sieverville Correctional Facility are starting to realize that no one is going to let them out, and no one is coming to rescue them either. The guards are useless to defend them against the incoming flood, and even more so when it comes to the monsters lurking in the depths.

Groups of prisoners are starting to break off on their own looking for a way out, but they can’t be sure what they will find hiding around each corner. If it’s not the deadly creatures the storm has stirred up from the muck, then it’s the muck they face every day, the ghosts they carry with them, which themselves now seem to be made real.
