Care Bear Stare with a New Comic Series from IDW

Following the success of the new hit Boomerang cartoon, IDW Publishing and Cloudco Entertainment have announced an all-new Care Bears comic book and graphic novel program. Expanding upon the imaginative Care Bears: Unlock the Magic streaming series with new story content, IDW will debut its first fun-filled issue in July 2019.

Welcome to The Silver Lining in Care Bears #1 – a mystical realm full of mirth and magic! The Care Bears, along with their pals the Whiffles, protect this realm from the negative influence of the mischievous Bluster and his Bad Crowd! With engaging, unique characters and an irreverent and heartwarming sense of humor, this new comic book is perfect for anyone looking for more magic in their lives!

IDW’s Care Bears will be illustrated by all-ages superstar Agnes Garbowska and feature a story by Matthew Erman and Nadia Shammas. The launch will include a whimsical regular cover by Garbowska and a special variant edition by Tony Fleecs.

Hanna-Barbera, Looney Tunes and MGM on Video Subscription Service, Boomerang

Time Warner’s Turner and Warner Bros. have announced they have partnered on a new standalone domestic premium video subscription service – Boomerang – that will launch in the Spring. This will be the first time the two companies have offered the massive Hanna-Barbera, Looney Tunes and MGM animation library of over 5,000 titles on a streaming platform. Boomerang will provide audiences instant and exclusive access to both brand-new original series and timeless franchises like Scooby Doo, Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny, The Jetsons and The Flintstones among many others. Launching with a vast number of episodes, new content will be added weekly for kids, families and animation lovers of all ages to enjoy.

Boomerang will be the exclusive home to a slate of new, original series, including Warner Bros. Animation’s Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz, an uplifting comedic fantasy series that transports audiences to the magical land of Oz and follows the ruby slipper adventures of its brave and feisty princess protagonist; and Wacky Races, a full-engine overhaul of the Hanna-Barbera classic series that takes viewers on a ride filled with zany slapstick comedy, high-octane thrills and exotic locales around the world.  Additionally, Boomerang will be the only place to catch new episodes of three fan-favorite series, Scooby-Doo, Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry.

Boomerang will support its world-class content offering with a robust set of product features in the months following launch including: family profiles, personalized recommendations, download-to-go, Spanish audio and interactive features that will give users new and exciting ways to discover and share content. The Boomerang OTT service will be powered by applications and technology developed by DramaFever, a Warner Bros. Digital Networks company.

The service will be ad-free and launch domestically on Web, iOS and Android devices for $4.99 per month (with a 7-day Free Trial) or $39.99 annually (with a 30-day Free Trial).

The product will expand to several more platforms after launch, including Amazon, Roku and Apple TV. Turner and Warner Bros. is exploring additional distribution opportunities with both new and existing partners in the future.

Peanuts Comes to Boomerang May 9

Peanuts, the brand-new animated series based on one of entertainment’s most iconic brands, heads to Boomerang on Monday, May 9. For the first time, the individual Peanuts print comic strips come to life in vignettes filled with humor and heart for the whole family. New episodes premiere daily at 11:30 a.m. ET/8:30 a.m. PT.

The series captures the spirit of the timeless adventures of Charlie Brown’s gang and his wildly imaginative, supremely confident and world-famous beagle, Snoopy. The watercolor art style, textured backgrounds and framing deliver a viewing experience that will excite both classic Peanuts enthusiasts and new fans alike.

Viewers will be able to catch a sneak peek of Peanuts on Cartoon Network the week of May 9 at 10:30 a.m. (ET/PT) and further engage with the series as select individual shorts roll out on the Cartoon Network video app.

DC Super Hero Girls Animated TV Special to Premiere March 19 on Boomerang

DC_Girls_Action_Image_042015 _v FINALTune into Boomerang on Saturday, March 19 at 10 a.m. for an action-packed hour with Super Hero High, a special featuring the stellar lineup of female Super Heroes from DC Super Hero Girls, the new comic universe from Warner Bros. Consumer Products, DC Entertainment, Warner Bros. Animation and Mattel. In addition to the special, exclusive shorts inspired by this fun and immersive world that encourages girls to discover their own super-heroic potential are also now available to view on the Cartoon Network video app.

Super Hero High is buzzing with excitement over new student, Supergirl. But when Supergirl crash lands into the cafeteria, it’s evident that though she has incredible power, she has a long way to go before she becomes a Super Hero. Too intimidated by the other supers to ask them for assistance, Supergirl turns to helpful I.T. girl, Barbara Gordon. Barbara takes Supergirl under her wing and introduces her to the sweet, old librarian, Granny Goodness. As Barbara helps Supergirl learn to harness her powers, Wonder Woman joins them and becomes a mentor and friend to Supergirl. Meanwhile, the Junior Detective Club (The Flash, Bumblebee and Hawkgirl) investigates a mysterious rash of security breaches centered around the teleportation “Boom Tubes.” Could it all be because of reformed Super-Villain and Super Hero High Vice-Principal Gorilla Grodd – or something far worse?

The Super Hero High television special stars Anais Fairweather as Supergirl, Mae Margaret Whitman as Barbara Gordon and features an all-star voice cast of DC Comics universe veterans, including Greg Cipes, Tara Strong, Ashley Eckstein, John DiMaggio, Tom Kenny, Helen Slater and Dean Cain. Jennifer Coyle is the television special’s producer and director. Sam Register serves as executive producer. Shea Fontana serves as writer of the television special and animated shorts, as well as the DC Comics graphic novel.

The DC Super Hero Girls world centers on the female Super Heroes of the DC Comics universe during their formative high school years—prior to discovering their full super power potential. Featuring a completely new artistic style and aesthetic, DC Comics’ icons such as Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Harley Quinn, Bumblebee, Poison Ivy, Katana and many more, make their unprecedented teenaged introduction. Each character has her own storyline that explores what teen life is like as a Super Hero, including discovering her unique abilities, nurturing her remarkable powers and mastering the fundamentals of being a hero.

Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney, and Cara Delevingne are DC’s Suicide Squad

suicide squad logoThe Hollywood Reporter has reported, and Warner Bros./DC Comics has confirmed the cast of 2016’s Suicide Squad after lots of rumors and speculation. The Suicide Squad is a group of captured villains brought together for missions to work off their sentences, and has featured numerous different characters and line-ups. Think of it as The Dirty Dozen with a rotating cast, an awesome idea for a movie franchise.

We now know this Suicide Squad will be:

  • Will Smith as Deadshot
  • Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg (the team’s leader)
  • Jared Leto as the Joker
  • Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn
  • Jai Courtney as Boomerang
  • Cara Delevingne as Enchantress

David Ayer is both writing and directing the film.

The movie has a release date of Aug. 5, 2016 and begins filming in April.

David Ayer returns to the studio where he wrote Training Day and brings his incredible ability to craft multidimensional villains to this iconic DC property with a cast of longtime Warner collaborators Will Smith and Tom Hardy, and other new and returning favorites: Margot, Jared, Jai and Cara.

We look forward to seeing this terrific ensemble, under Ayer’s amazing guidance, give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero.

The film will star two-time Oscar nominee Will Smith (“The Pursuit of Happyness,” “Ali,” upcoming “Focus”) as Deadshot; Tom Hardy (“The Dark Knight Rises,” upcoming “Mad Max: Fury Road”) as Rick Flagg; Margot Robbie (“The Wolf of Wall Street,” upcoming “Focus,” the “Tarzan” movie) as Harley Quinn; Oscar winner Jared Leto (“Dallas Buyers Club,” “Alexander”) as the Joker; Jai Courtney (“Divergent,” upcoming “The Water Diviner”) as Boomerang; and Cara Delevingne (“Anna Karenina,” upcoming “Pan”) as Enchantress.

In making the announcement, Silverman said, “The Warner Bros. roots are deep on this one. Ayer is also writing the script for “Suicide Squad,” which is being produced by Charles Roven (“The Dark Knight” trilogy, upcoming “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”) and Richard Suckle (“American Hustle”). Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Colin Wilson and Geoff Johns are serving as executive producers.

The film is slated for release on August 5, 2016.
