Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!

Cobra Commander #2

Wednesdays (and Tuesdays) are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in

Each week our contributors choose what they can’t wait to read this week or just sounds interesting. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look at!

Find out what folks think below, and what comics you should be looking out for this week.

Animal Pound #2 (BOOM! Studios) – The first issue was an interesting update to Orwell’s classic and we’re intrigued where this goes and how it might differ.

Blasfamous #1 (DSTLRY) – We’re intrigued to see what this new horror comedy from Mirka Andolfo and DSTLRY is like.

Blitmap #3 (Titan Comics) – We’re here for the unique covers but the story concept and the fact anyone can riff on it is something to watch.

Cemetery Kids Don’t Die #1 (Oni Press) – A kid’s consciousness is locked in a horror game and his friends attempt to rescue them.

Cobra Commander #2 (Skybound) – The first issue was an amazing mix of old and new building off of the mythoes that came before in new ways. Add in the connection to the Transformers world and this is a series that has deserved buzz.

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #304 (Skybound) – Great action and solid art. It’s G.I. Joe dialed up to 11.

Invasive #3 (Oni Press) – Super creepy body horror that’ll make your skin crawl.

Not Sew Wicked Stepmom Vol. 3 (Yen Press) – A great new spin on the classic Snow White.

The Six Fingers #1 (Image Comics) – The companion series to The Red Hand that we all loved. This one focuses on the killer?

Taking Care of God (Yen Press) – Days after reading this manga, we’re still contemplating its deeper meaning.

Ultimate Spider-Man #2 (Marvel) – The first issue was the shot in the arm the new Ultimate Universe needed and cemented this series as one to watch.

Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!

The Agent #1

Wednesdays (and Tuesdays) are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in

Each week our contributors choose what they can’t wait to read this week or just sounds interesting. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look at!

Find out what folks think below, and what comics you should be looking out for this week.

The Agent #1 (Ablaze) – For some, magic is a myth. For others, it is a weapon. What if witchcraft really existed? If our beliefs, superstitions, and legends were material? This is what Rhym, a young narcotics lieutenant, must question when she finds herself confronted with the impossible. The concept sounds pretty cool and we’re digging that cover.

Animal Pound #1 (BOOM! Studios) – It’s a new take on the classic Animal Farm but with another series that’s similar will this stand out? The preview release showed there could be two on the shelves and we’re excited to check this out!

Batman/Santa Claus: Silent Knight #3 (DC Comics) – The concept might seem silly but it’s been fantastic so far.

Blitmap #2 (Titan Comics) – Every comic has a unique cover and the series is “open source” in that anyone can build off of it. For those reasons alone, this is on our radar.

Borealis #1 (Dark Horse) – Winter nights last months, temperatures can hit seventy below, alcohol is illegal… and something mysterious is emerging on the remote ice. We’re already cold thinking about this supernatural thriller!

Dark Moon: The Blood Altar Vol. 1 (IZE Press) – The seven most popular boys at Decelis Academy all share a secret-they’re vampires. Keeping their identities concealed and dealing with their werewolf rivals is trouble enough, but the appearance of a mysterious new student only further complicates things.

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #302 (Skybound) – The previous issue kicked off the Skybound era and we’re excited to see what’s next.

Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong #3 (BOOM! Studios) – Some times you just want superheroes punching kaiju.

Original X-Men #1 (Marvel) – Marvel has teased something major coming out of this, so we’re intrigued.

Rooster Fighter Vol. 5 (VIZ Media) – A rooster fights kaiju. It doesn’t get much more complicated that that.

Tomb Raider King Vol. 5 (Yen Press) – The latest volume is full of twists and turns as the race to get relics kicks into overdrive.

Blitmap heads to Tokyo Comic Con 2023

Blitmap #2

Sup Comics has announced that it will be exhibiting at Tokyo Comic Con 2023, booth E-32, December 8-10th. This will be the first time that readers will be able to pick up a copy of Blitmap #2 ahead of its official release date on December 20th, which features new cover artists (Dudu Torres and Toni Infante), added action and a deeper dive into the Blitmap world.

In partnership with Titan Publishing, the first issue in the thrilling new 6-issue sci-fi series set in a vibrant solarpunk metropolis launched worldwide in October, and became highly sought after by collectors, including it hitting the #1 bestseller spot at Midtown Comics.

One of the factors of its success is that every foil-wrapped blind bag of Blitmap comes with a completely individual cover variant. No, really. Like every single cover

Sup’s team of engineers and artists took 6 months to develop a new patent-pending printing technology called “Hyperpress” so that every single copy is a collector’s item. So you discover your cover when you open it. A feat achieved without using Artificial Intelligence.
