At the start of the year, Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto kicked off Marvel Comics’ new Ultimate line with Ultimate Spider-Man #1, a visionary take on Marvel’s most iconic character that set the standard for the first wave of Ultimate titles including Ultimate Black Panther, Ultimate X-Men, and Ultimates. Each series has captured readers’ imaginations, and to mark a year of extraordinary storytelling, the 13th issues of Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate Black Panther, Ultimate X-Men, and Ultimates will feature a One Year in Foil Variant Cover by acclaimed cover artist and Pixar animator Benjamin Su.

Told in real time, each consecutive issue of the Ultimate titles take place a month apart.  New year, new Ghost Rider! Continuing his acclaimed work on the character, writer Benjamin Percy will team up with artist Danny Kim to introduce an all-new Ghost Rider in Ghost Rider: Final Vengeance #1. Hitting stands in March, the series will see the Spirit of Vengeance turn down a dark road as he abandons Johnny Blaze and possesses a powerful Marvel supervillain instead. It promises to be a very different chapter for the iconic flamehead and like other highly-anticipated launches, it’ll stand out in comic shops with a special Foil Variant Cover. SDCC 2023: Marvel announces its next major crossover event, Gang War!

Each year, the Marvel: Next Big Thing panel is one of the most anticipated moments of San Diego Comic-Con as it’s where fans gather to learn about the most monumental sagas coming to the Marvel Universe. This year was no different as Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski and Executive Editor Nick Lowe were joined by were joined by Senior Editor Jordan D. White, Editor Sarah Brunstad, Amazing Spider-Man writer Zeb Wells, Guardians of the Galaxy writers Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing, X-Men writer Gerry Duggan, and Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant co-writer Sabir Pirzada to deliver a wealth of thrilling announcements including the reveal of the next milestone Marvel Comics crossover epic: GANG WAR!

Spinning out of Zeb Wells and John Romita Jr.’s hit run of Amazing Spider-Man, GANG WAR will see a war erupt between the gang lords of New York City, causing chaos throughout the Big Apple.
