Art Brut goes back to print for its first two issues

Bestselling Ice Cream Man creators W. Maxwell Prince and Martín Morazzo have hit the mark once more with a new hit series—Art Brut. Image Comics will rush issues #1 and #2 back to print this week in order to keep up with increasing customer demand. The reprints will feature new covers by Morazzo and Lopes.

Alongside the Bureau of Artistic Integrity, Arthur Brut the Mad Dreampainter (and his trusty sidekick, Manny the Mannequin) must dive back into the very paintings that made him insane…or reality itself might just crumble to pieces. A colorful, gonzo romp through art and art history, Art Brut is equal parts police procedural, hyper-fantasy, and psychological thriller—a veritable Pollock-splatter of comics genres tossed onto one giant pulpy canvas.

Art Brut #1, second printing (Diamond Code DEC228536) and Art Brut #2, second printing (Diamond Code DEC228537) will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, February 22.

Available on Wednesday, February 15:

From Ice Cream Man to Art Brut this December

The first major work from W. Maxwell Prince and Martín Morazzo of Ice Cream Man fame will come to Image Comics this December—fully re-lettered, remastered, and re-titled as originally intended—Art Brut.

This NPR-lauded series was first published under the title, The Electric Sublime, and will be brought to a whole new audience of readers through this carefully-crafted revision.

The world of fine art is falling apart, and only Art Brut knows how to fix it. Alongside the Bureau of Artistic Integrity, Art Brut follows the titular Arthur Brut the Mad Dreampainter (and his trusty sidekick, Manny the Mannequin) as they dive back into the very paintings that made him insane…in order to save reality itself from crumbling.

A colorful, gonzo romp through art and art history, Art Brut is equal parts police procedural, hyper-fantasy, and psychological thriller—a veritable Pollock-splatter of comics genres tossed onto one giant pulpy canvas!

Each issue features new covers, new design, and a new Silver Age-style backup story featuring the art hero that no one’s ever heard of—until now!

Art Brut #1 will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, December 7:

Double D is a grade-A read

Written by Eddie Argos—singer and lyricist of critically-acclaimed classic rock band Art Brut—with art by Steven Horry, colors by David Cooper, and lettering by Colin Bell, comes Double D, an all-new coming-of-age story about a teen who finds power in his shortcomings.

In Double D (after what is officially The Worst Day Ever) overweight bully magnet Danny Carter discovers he can use his excess body mass to fuel superpowers. Obviously he’s going to be a superhero and fight crime, but when you’re fifteen years old and you live in the suburbs it’s not quite as easy as expected…

This all-new original graphic novel is set to coincide with a recorded soundtrack album, featuring Mark Hefferman and Grant Purser as well as Argos and Horry, and will be released on Post/Pop Records in late November/early December.

Double D OGN (Diamond Code SEP150525) will hit comic book stores on Wednesday, November 11th and book stores on Tuesday, November 24th. The final order cutoff deadline for comic book retailers is Monday, October 19th.
