Diamond and Alliance Launch “Back the Comeback” to Support Comic and Game Retailers

Back the Comeback

Diamond Comic Distributors and Alliance Game  Distributors, Geppi Family Enterprises companies, have announced the launch of Back The Comeback, a multi-phased campaign focused on supporting local comic and game stores as they reopen, restart and rebuild. Centered around the rallying cry of, “Our Comeback Will Be Bigger Than Our Setback,” Diamond and Alliance created the campaign in partnership with publishers and industry influencers to shine a light on the unique relationship consumers have with their local comic and game retailers while raising funds to support restart efforts.

Back The Comeback launches today with a social media challenge. In a video message posted on Twitter, Facebook, as well as various YouTube channels, Steve Geppi challenges five friends to #BackTheComeback and post messages of support for their favorite comic or game store while asking their friends and fans to do the same.

Viewers can visit the official website for additional information including tools to help make their own social messages and a link to purchase campaign T-shirts. All from T-shirt sales will be distributed to charities that support comic and game stores.

The second phase of this campaign begins later this summer when Diamond International Galleries (DIG) launches a Back The Comeback charity auction. Steve Geppi has kicked off donations to the auction with items valued at approximately $50,000. The winning bidders will donate directly to one of three charities that support comic and game retailers and submit proof of donation to DIG to claim their item.

The third phase of this campaign focuses on in-store promotion. Alliance will offer weekly promotions to retailers and Diamond will partner with publishers to place the Back The Comeback logo on the cover of select comics to commemorate this time period and the emphasis on rebuilding. More information on these additional phases of the campaign will be released in the coming weeks.

Shinobi 7 Goes Exclusive with Diamond/Alliance and Completely Acquired by Seven Seas Entertainment

Shinobi 7 has announced an exclusive distribution deal with Diamond/Alliance for all sales channels. Under this agreement, Diamond/Alliance will distribute all upcoming Shinobi 7 products to the hobby gaming market, specialty comic shops, bookstores, and mass market. Current products already released by Shinobi 7 will soon be relisted with Diamond/Alliance.

In conjunction with the deal, Seven Seas Entertainment has acquired the complete ownership interest in Shinobi 7, which was initially formed as a joint venture between Seven Seas Entertainment and Ninja Division Publishing. Shinobi 7 is now a subsidiary of Seven Seas Entertainment and will operate under an independent management and production team.

Shinobi 7’s main focus continues to be the production and publishing of high quality tabletop games based on exciting licensed brands. To date, Shinobi 7 has released the following product lines, which are available through Ninja Division Publishing until March 15, 2018:

Tokyo GhoulThe Card Game, a deck-building game adapted from the hit anime franchise about an alternate reality where monstrous ghouls and humans coexist.

My Little Pony: Tales of Equestria, a complete pen-and-paper roleplaying system based on the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic franchise.

Cryptozoic Entertainment Expands Game Distribution

CryptozoicToday, Cryptozoic Entertainment announced a change in their hobby gaming sales distribution strategy. The exclusive relationship with Alliance Game Distributors for board games has been modified to allow for additional distribution through a select number of other companies.

Historically, Cryptozoic has utilized Alliance, Diamond, GTS and ACD to help it with specific product lines in specialized markets. The new strategy expands its relationships with each distributor to include Cryptozoic’s entire line of products. These new partnerships strategically align for the long-term by combining the strength of expanded distribution systems with Cryptozoic’s dedicated focus and expertise as a leading card, game, and soon to be toy producer. This updated distribution plan will be implemented in May 2015.
