A Super-Model Super-Hero!

A SUPER-MODEL SUPER-HERO!

ASPEN COMICS PARTNERS WITH SUPER-MODEL RACHEL CLARK AND HIGH-FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER MICHAEL SCHWARTZ TO CREATE STUNNING PHOTO COVERS FOR IDOLIZED PLUS, ASPEN ANNOUNCES IDOLIZED COVERS FROM ART ADAMS, JOE BENITEZ, KERON GRANT AND MORE!

Aspen Comics is proud to announce that their upcoming new series IDOLIZED will feature a series of covers shot by renowned photographer Michael Schwartz, and featuring supermodel Rachel Clark.  For the exclusive IDOLIZED photo shoot, a special costume was constructed, allowing Ms. Clark to appear as IDOLIZED’s dark and disturbed super-powered protagonist, Joule.

“We’re thrilled to be working with such amazing talent for IDOLIZED”, said Aspen President Frank Mastromauro.  “Rachel and Michael are major names in the fashion industry, and they’ve brought something truly special, unique, and absolutely gorgeous to our covers.” Rachel has been the face of Louis Vuitton, D&G and Victoria’s Secret’s ‘PINK’ line.  She’s appeared in magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and Vogue, and in ad campaigns for Levis, Louis Vuitton, D&G, Barney’s and Neiman Marcus.  She’s walked the runway for the likes of Christian Dior, John Galliano, Hermes, Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, Donna Karan, Salvatore Ferragamo and numerous others. Perhaps most importantly, she’s also a total comic book junkie and a major World of Warcraft player.

Michael Schwartz shoots for an amazing list of some of the biggest names in the fashion and entertainment industries, including Victoria’s Secret, Hugo Boss, J Crew, Universal Music, Madewell, Polydor Records and editorial clients such as V Magazine, V Man, Harper’s Bazaar, Dazed & Confused, Dansk, Exit, Metal and now Aspen Comics.

“It was really exciting to bring a drawing to life,” Schwartz raved, “especially with such an amazing model to help make this happen.” The shoot took place on Sunday, January 15th in New York, and nearly 1500 images were taken over the course of the day. In fact, there so many spectacular photos taken, that the Aspen editorial team had a nearly impossible time narrowing them down to just 1 cover image for each issue. “At some point, we may have to collect all of our other favorites and publish them in a book of just the photos,” said Aspen Editor-in-Chief Vince Hernandez.  “They’re just really, really cool, stunning images and we want to be able to get as many of them out there, in print, as possible.” Of course, each issue of IDOLIZED will be having traditional comic books covers as well, and they’ve got an incredible line-up of some of the biggest names in comics providing those covers, including ART ADAMS, JOE BENITEZ and a painted cover from KERON GRANT.

IDOLIZED is Aspen’s first-ever superhero series, so they’re pulling out all the stops. It tells the story of girl with super-powers and a tortured past, who seeks revenge, and ultimately finds redemption, over the course of competing in a televised super-hero competition show.  Essentially, it’s “True Grit” meets “American Idol” with capes.  The series is written by Michael’s brother David B. Schwartz (acclaimed writer of Image Comics’ “MELTDOWN”, “Aspen Showcase: Ember” and “Fathom: Blue Descent”), with explosive art by Micah Gunnell (“Shrugged”, “Executive Assistant: Orchid”, “Dellec”) and colors by David Curiel (“Executive Assistant: Orchid”).  The first issue will debut in June 2012.

Zenescope Entertainment Announces Kickstarter Campaign For Grimm Fairy Tales Animated Series

March 16, 2012, Zenescope Entertainment is proud to announce the launch of the Grimm Fairy Tales Animated Series Kickstarter campaign. The animated series will be directed by Jon Schnepp as well as the Titmouse Inc. animation studio. The Kickstarter will launch on Friday, March 16, 2012 and will run until May 1st, 2012.

The project requires a budget of $175,000 to cover the cost of the pilot episode and to produce the foundation materials necessary to continue the series. The official announcement of this Kickstarter project will be at WonderCon during the Hollywood and Comics 12:30 pm PST panel on March 16th. Ben Jackendoff will make the announcement, along with Jon Schnepp. Both will be available to discuss the project in more detail at the conclusion of the panel at the Zenescope booth, booth #100, at WonderCon, where Jon will also be signing during the show.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/212378023/grimm-fairy-tales-animated-series

Zenescope Entertainment President Joe Brusha had this to say:

“We believe that our Grimm Fairy Tales comic book series would make an excellent animated series, and we’ve been pitching the idea to the Hollywood big-wigs for years. They’ve said “There is too much Fairy Tales stuff out there”, or “No one wants to see a gritty, dark, modern take on the fairy tales.” That’s where they’re wrong. We have tons of devoted fans that would love to see more of our series, and that is our chance and yours to make it happen.”

Grimm Fairy Tales has been the flagship series of Zenescope Entertainment since the company started. Zenescope has grown to a top comic book publisher due to its continued success. Grimm Fairy Tales is currently the longest running independent color comic being published today and has over 1 million copies in print.

Jon Schnepp will be directing this project. He is one of the hottest animation directors in Hollywood, having already seen a great deal of success working on such series as Aqua Teen Hunger Force , Metalocalypse, and the Venture Brothers. Not only will Jon be working closely with the creators of the comic book, Joe Brusha and Ralph Tedesco; Zenescope will be enlisting Titmouse Inc, one of the premiere animation studios, to help with this vision.

Titmouse Inc is a premiere animation studio with top-tier talent and experience. Jon Schnepp has worked with them before on many of his projects, and much of their work rounds out the Adult Swim animation block on Cartoon Network. Their variety of experience is suited well for the Grimm Fairy Tales animation series anthology.

About Zenescope Entertainment

Founded by Joe Brusha and Ralph Tedesco in 2005 and has quickly grown into one of the top comic book and graphic novel publishing companies in the world.  Zenescope’s Grimm Fairy Tales and subsequent spin-off series such as Escape From Wonderland, Neverland and The Piper, which put a dark twist on classic fables, are some of the best-selling and longest running original independent comic books on shelves today. This year, Zenescope will be bringing their comics to life in an animated series fans have been clambering for.

About Titmouse Inc.

Titmouse, Inc. was formed to sell the kind of bad ass t-shirts Chris P had been designing on the side for years. It started out great! The designs were great. The t-shirts were great. The vibe was great – but clients wouldn’t stop hiring Chris P to do animation. The networks and studios wanted to hire a company to do these projects, not just a dude freelancing. So Titmouse, Inc starting doing less clothing and more cartoons. We hired more and more employees, expanded into more and more offices in our West Hollywood location and eventually bought our own building in Hollywood to house the ever growing crew. We’re now over 100 people strong and rock multiple television series, movies, titles, shorts and commercials – all in house. We still even make an occasional t-shirt.

About Kickstarter

Kickstarter aims to let creative people of all kinds — journalists, artists, musicians, game developers, entrepreneurs, bloggers — raise money for their projects by connecting directly with fans, who receive exclusive access and rewards in exchange for their patronage. More than just a fundraising app, Kickstarter’s a publishing platform where project creators can communicate with the people that are supporting them.

Indie publishers take on Free Comic Book Day with a little help from Kickstarter

Indie publishers take on FREE COMIC BOOK DAY with a little help from KICKSTARTER

FUBAR PRESS, publisher of the Kickstarter funded New York Times Best Seller FUBAR: Empire of the rising Dead are teaming up with fellow Independent publisher 215 INK to bring free comics to shops all across the country via the brand new Indie comic distributor Liber on FREE COMIC BOOK DAY. Both publishers are contributing 28 page stand alone comics to the event and are launching a Kickstarter campaign to secure funding for the printing of those comics.

DONATE TO CAMPAIGN BY VISITING http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1607639297/fubar-press-215-ink-free-comic-book-day-2012

“Kickstarter has been an immense game changer for independent comics in general and small-press indie comics in particular. A few years ago we couldn’t even hope to participate in an event like Free Comic Book Day. Kickstarter has been great because not only does it help us raise funds, but it also is an excellent tool to help spread the word on events like FCBD and introduce comic shops to a new distributor like Liber.” says Jeff McComsey, Editor in Chief of FUBAR PRESS.

Andrew DelQuadro of 215 INK had this to add, “My only regret is that we didn’t start this project earlier and pull in a few more of our fellow indie publishers and make this a gigantic event. Next year We want to go bigger.”

215 INK and FUBAR PRESS are asking for a modest $1,200 in their campaign but have said,  “The more money raised, the more books will be printed and the more shops we can ship our books to.”
