Sashimi and the Field Trip of Doom is a fantastic second volume… so says our youngest reviewer!

Sashimi is going on a field trip! Except he didn’t get his permission slip signed. And he accidentally boarded (and quickly got kicked off of) the wrong bus.

Uh-oh… is Sashimi… missing?

Sound the alarm! A child without a signed permission slip is on the loose!

It’s only a matter of time before Sashimi is able to find his way home. But not before he stirs up a lot of trouble first!

Aurora and the Orc is great for all ages and we get a second opinion from our youngest reviewer!

There’s something strange about the new kid in class. Maybe it’s because he’s from a faraway country where they practice different customs. Or maybe it’s because his skin is green, he carries a club, and his favorite pastime is slaying elves.

Her teacher and classmates are unfazed, but to Aurora, it’s obvious—the new kid is an orc! And as his unofficial chaperone, Aurora must teach him about human life and curb his outrageously orc-like behavior. But as she travels with him and sees more of his world, it becomes clear she also has much to learn, not just about him but her own family.

Read From Either Side: Yoann Kavege’s High-Concept Fantasy Epic Brings Two Stories Together in the Middle!

This fall, Mad Cave Studios’ YA imprint Maverick invites readers to choose where the story begins with Fantasy, an inventive fantasy graphic novel from writer and artist Yoann Kavege and letterer Justin Birch, with translations by Nanette McGuinness.

One on a quest for vengeance, the other on a quest for love! Their destinies intertwine in Fantasy—a graphic novel with two perspectives, and two stories. For Alma, it’s the big day: Chosen by the kingdom for the ritual of the bleeding of the gods, the crown princess will journey to the lands of the gods to slay one, and thus avenge an affront to humanity 500 years old. For Yourcenar, it’s the big day: The Oracle finally predicted that she will encounter her beloved. But the young giantess soon realizes that her beloved is human…and thus begins a wait that will last one thousand years. What happens when these two worlds collide? Read Fantasy and find out–with each perspective starting on opposite sides of the book and meeting in the middle!

Part high-fantasy quest, part love story, Fantasy pairs gods, giants, ancient grudges, and impossible destinies with a unique reading experience built around two characters moving toward the same inevitable collision. The result is two stories in one, inviting readers to decide whose journey they want to experience first!

Fantasy goes on sale November 24, 2026 (FOC November 2), in paperback (ISBN: 9781545836163 | $19.99) and hardcover (ISBN: 9781545836156 | $29.99) formats.

Graphix has obtained exclusive rights to develop five of Osamu Tezuka’s properties!

Scholastic has announced it will be partnering with Tezuka Productions, Co., Ltd., Osamu Tezuka’s IP company, to reimagine five of Tezuka’s original manga titles for children.

Tezuka Productions, Co., Ltd. is a Japanese mass multi-media company founded by Osamu Tezuka, who is often referred to as the “God of Manga.” Tezuka is famously known for jumpstarting Japan’s modern comic and animation industries, producing over 700 stories, including some of his most popular series, Astro Boy, Princess Knight, Kimba the White Lion, and many more.

Scholastic partnered with Tezuka Productions, Co. Ltd. first in 2024 with the reimagining of Tezuka’s Unico series. Since the Unico Awakening series launched in August 2024, Graphix has released three volumes from acclaimed author, Samuel Sattin, and Eisner Award-winning Japanese artist duo, Gurihiru. The series has become a national bestseller and sold in more than 17 countries around the world. Unico Awakening will culminate with its eighth volume, completing the story arc left unfinished by Tezuka in his lifetime.

In a similar vein to Unico, Scholastic is partnering with Tezuka Productions, Co., Ltd. to reimagine five properties from Osamu Tezuka. These titles will include, Three Eyed One, Princess Knight, Triton of the Sea, Zero Men, and Atom Cat/Astro Cat. Author Samuel Sattin is tagged once again to spearhead the efforts to develop and reimage these series, working alongside Japanese artists.
