Sony Pictures has landed the live-action film rights to D’Orc, the comic series written and drawn by Brett Bean and published by Image Comics. Bean is attached to adapt it. Yes, the announcement said “live-action,” not “animated.”

The series is fantastic, and you can check out our reviews and previews of the series. The story follows D’Orc who is part dwarf and part orc and might bring about the destruction of the world. The light side and dark side are both out to stop him. Did we mention that D’Orc’s friends include a bloodthirsty enchanted shield and the ghost of a decapitated chicken?

The series is a hit with the first issue up to its eighth printing with other issues also receiving multiple printings.
