Verity takes the weekend box office while Digger isn’t dug. Avengers: Endgame passes Avatar.
Verity took the weekend box office with an estimated debut of $32.6 million domestically and $30 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $62.6 million. With a budget of just $40 million, it’s a good opening which makes it highly likely the film will turn a profit for Amazon MGM Studios.
Resident Evil slipped one spot to second place with $12.5 million. It’s just a 45.7% drop, not bad for a horror movie or “blockbuster” which tend to open strong then quickly drop. The movie has grossed $124.9 million domestically. Internationally, the movie added $27.5 million over the week and now has grossed $120.5 million. That brings the film to $245.4 million worldwide. It’s the top grossing film domestically in the franchise and currently third for worldwide gross, behind 2010’s Resident Evil: Afterlife and 2016’s Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.
Heart of the Beast held on to third place with $11 million bringing its gross to $38.4 million. Over the week, it over doubled its international gross adding $30.2 million to that total to bring it to $60.3 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $98.7 million.
Primetime remained in fourth place with a little over $8 million to bring it to $34.1 million domestically. Internationally, the movie has grossed $53,653. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $34.1 million worldwide.
Digger rounded out the top five with a disappointing $8 million domestically and $12 million internationally for a worldwide total of $20 million. Originally greenlit with a budget of $125 million, the budget climbed to $160 to $180 million. With a reported $100 million marketing budget, the movie would need over $300 million worldwide to be profitable. That’s highly unlikely at this point and a flop for Warner Bros. before its acquisition by Paramount Skydance.

Avengers Endgame: Encore dropped to seventh place after last week’s first place debut. The movie added $4.4 million to its domestic gross which is now $36.2 million. Internationally, it added around $29.8 million to bring that to $89.8 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $126 million. Including its original release, the movie has grossed $2.925 billion worldwide. It has now passed Avatar to be the top grossing movie worldwide ever. Avatar grossed $2.924 billion which includes its original release and multiple re-releases including one in 2025.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day slipped to tenth place, with $2.5 million to bring its domestic gross to $954.5 million. Internationally, it added $6 million over the week and has grossed $1.551 billion for a worldwide gross of $2.505 billion.
Coyote vs. Acme grossed an estimated $475,153 to bring its domestic total to $59.6 million. Over the week, it grossed $6.5 million internationally to bring that to $36.2 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $96.1 million. The movie would need to gross around $120 million for Ketchup to make a profit and it’d have had to have grossed $140 million if Warner Bros. released it.
Numbers have 36 movies grossing $97,909,034 from 35,761 theaters for an average of $2,737.87. That is compared to last week’s 71 movies grossing $124,578,204 from 36,035 theaters for an average of $3,457.15.
